It ranges between 50-55 hrs a week. That number will go up or down depending on the last flight(terminator) into our station. Also, those hrs will go down most likely when we hire more people at our station which they have. I don't mind the OT since it's going into my 401k, which by the way is GREAT, I highly recommend starting one!

I am at SDF(Louisville). I had virtual training for two days at SDF. After that I was on the ramp for a month with my trainer. I followed his schedule and followed his lead for maybe 3-4 days. I have prior ramp experience which made it a little easier for him and myself. After that I was the lead on most ramp duties and my trainer was right there watching over me. After that I was released and went to nights(closing) and I have been on nights ever since. The workload is not that bad, but we are hiring all over. I have been getting my full time hours plus overtime.

I would make sure on the very first day of training you advise your supervisor and even talk to the station manager about your time off needed. Make sure it's noted somewhere and remind them as the time gets closer. My trainer was a great person to ask for advice and who to talk to if I needed anything. Congrats on your special day and Welcome to the SWA family!

Have you completed the finger print screen and the USPS background check? If you did and that comes back clean then you should get an email from your recruiter advising you the next step. The USPS background is the one that takes the longest. Are you applying for a ramp position, if so where? Good Luck !!!!!!

Might be 2-3 weeks with the hiring frenzy we are on. If you have your recruiters email address, You could always email your recruiter and just say you are checking in and that you did your drug test and finger prints. Keep your receipts for both of those as you never know what may happen.

I know it took me awhile back in August before I heard back, maybe 2-3 weeks. Right now I know we are on a hiring frenzy and have been since I was hired on in August. I would email your recruiter if you don't hear anything in the 2-3 weeks. Did you get a USPS background check emailed to you also?

That's a bin door protector. It's is supposed to be installed right after the bin door is opened for unloading and taken off upon completion of loading the a/c of baggage and freight/cargo. It's purpose is to protect the outside of the door from possible damage to the door in the above process since the cargo bin door swings inside. There are times when we have cargo/freight or even mobility devices that are just as tall as the bin door opening which puts risking the door being damaged. Door damage can result in delays or cancellations and cost more in fuel drag. Hope that helps and that's the best answer I can give from a SWA ramper.

Probation period is 6 months once you start your first day. As long as you show up on time, do what you are asked and your job, you should be fine. Don't know i you have had prior ramp experience? Please remember that out on the ramp to practice SAFETY and to keep your head on a swivel. There is so much around an aircraft that can hurt you. After probation period you will get a new hourly rate if I am not mistaken.

You will be notified through your supplied email on where to take your fingerprints(UPS Store) and your drug screen at. Those emails should be coming to you this week I would imagine. If you don't receive anything in your email about drug screening and fingerprints in the next week, I would email them. Was hired on for the ramp back in August. Good Luck and Welcome to the SWA team!

No, I plan on just working on the ramp. I was retired for 12 years before I got back into working on the ramp again. In my early 50's and I needed to do something active and keep my brain from turning to mush. I worked on the ramp in the late 80's and early 90's for Midway and Northwest Airlines. Always loved working around planes and being outdoors. Since I have been hired on I have met some great people and lost some weight and feel so much better!

Have you signed up to get emails from SWA about job openings? I was hired on in August for the ramp and still receive emails about ramp openings around the country. I know there are job openings on the ramp just posted last week for Denver, Co, San Jose ,Ca and Kahului, Hawaii, to name a few. If you click on a job on the careers page and pick your category, I think you can click a box that will notify you of similar jobs in other areas if I remember correctly.

Congrats and Welcome to the SWA Team. I was hired on for the ramp back in August. The worst part was waiting for the USPS background check to come back after I was offered the job on the ramp. Took around 6 weeks for it to come back, so hopefully that time has come down some. Be patient and if you have any questions please feel FREE to ask. Almost done with my 6 month probation, so I am excited to clear one of the last hurdles!

Every one of my interviews was virtual. Don't get discouraged if you don't hear back from your recruiter in a timely manner. Just make sure you have their email to correspond with them if you feel the need to do so. Good Luck!

Congrats and Welcome to the team. The worst part was waiting for the background checks to come back. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions

didn't I have tried replying three times and hopefully this one goes through. I work at SDF on the ramp. I go anywhere for training due to COVID. I had past ramp experience, so I had some knowledge of the job. I was teamed up with a trainer on the morning shift(0500-1330) for one month. After the one month I was signed off and went to closing shift(1600-0030). Where are you gonna work and GOOD LUCK!. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Did your email for the drug test have a link on where to go and set up an appointment to get that taken care of? I also received an another email on getting an appointment set up for my finger prints. If not you should email your recruiter back and ask them to resend.

Love the job. I was on day shift for a month on the ramp. Once my ramp training was completed I went to nights and I am closing now. I am low man on seniority which is why I am closing duties. I had previous ramp experience which is probably why I had only a month of training before they cut me loose. Good Luck!

Have you gotten the email to arrange for a finger print appointment? I remember that it was two different emails and one of them showed up in my spam folder. I would also email your recruiter back that you had your phone interview with. I was hired on for the ramp in August and it took just about 2 months to get everything done after I started the process. GOOD LUCK and welcome aboard!

I was contacted by the hiring department by phone call to watch my email for a link to set up an appointment for my drug test and finger prints. I had my finger prints done at UPS which was real easy. Congrats on the job offer and welcome to the family! Been with SWA now for 3 months and happy I got back into the airline industry, have met some great people!

Took them several weeks to get into contact with me after I applied for the ramp position. Then they will set up a phone interview and go from there. It's a slow process these days with short staffing. I'm glad I waited and got the job on the ramp! Good Luck!!!!!
