Yes, I'm sensitive to gluten but thankfully not celiac, I really feel for that group. The amount of gluten in a pack of the honey roasted peanuts seems to be okay. Eating a whole container of lorna doone...uh oh....see you at the back lavatory!

Oh no, you'll get me blackballed! - I can eat peanuts, but that's my only snack since all of the other snacks are glutenous except for Frito's on the longer flights. If someone else has peanut allergy, then I'm SOL.

It ended up being like a 10k I think.

If they did have bigger snacks for sale, I hope the drink coupons could be used for the food too, and if needed to purchase them maybe buy them in booklets of ten or something in advance. I had one trip in the recent past to Vancouver, BC and obvisouly didn't fly Southwest there, I did enjoy the egg bowl from the other guys! But as long as you know the program, it's easy enough to bring something onbaord to eat. I need to do this anyway since I'm one of the gluten people, so on a short flight (no fritos) with a peanut allergy I'm SOL on the free snack department.

If you fly Southwest to MSP, leave enough extra time to take the light rail to the larger Terminal 1, that's a great spot for hustle and bustle. There are a few more restaurant choices as well, although I'm actually happy with the Surdyk's Flights on the Humphrey Terminal side. The light rail connects to the Mall of America too. (Not for free to go to the mall, its free between terminals.)

Southwest has a long history of being a shuttle airline in Texas between Houston, SA, and Dallas, I'm sure that there is a way to complete your check-ins even with a day trip. I had a day trip recently to ATL and was able to check in, although I forget the details on the timing, and being A-list I wouldn't have cared if my return flight position wasn't good, I'd just board at A61.

So we have booked several trips/hotels through the southwest website, and then used out southwest rapid rewards credit card to pay. Some of the hotels offer a bonus of 20,000 points, etc for staying at those select hotels. Do those bonus points get applied to the companion pass points? Or only the actual points for money spent on the hotel? Also, can you redeem any points while trying to earn the companion pass, or do you have to have 110,000+ points in your account at the time of being awarded? And does it take away any points when you recieve a companion pass? Or do you have all those points you've earned available to redeem at anytime then? Thanks so much! Bonus points aren't necessarily credited towards CP, but I've seen several posts on this forum that hotel booking through the Southwest family of websites has counted. 20,000 sounds like a lot though. Redeem away, it is totally separate about your balance of points to use comapred to the balance of points that you have earned for tier qualifying - redeeming points as you earn them doesn't affect your year-to-date qualifying total. No, the tier qualification for CP is based on how many points you earned in the calendar year, not your actual balance at any time. Points are available to redeem as you earn them.

Assuming she will be a lap child, you'll need to verify her age with a birth certificate, or I believe doctor's records. Here is a whole page full of tidbits: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/baby-on-board-pol.html Allow a little extra time to get the Boarding Verification Document from the ticket agent when you arrive at the airport. Good luck! There are several threads with additional information, but let us know if you have any other concerns.

@kailwhales @CareforNOLA consider it as practice - if you have to get up at 5 a.m. to check in, that means you have to get up at 2 a.m. the next day in order to actually fly, so it's more like running a half-marathon as a training run for a full marathon later.

No one said to throw away your phone, there are plenty of other methods to check in at home and print your boarding pass there, or at the airport. Maybe its possible to use your phone with web broswer instead of the app for the other features of the app, I'm not familiar with your particular device. This community is for user-to-user help, although the moderators can chime in at times it's not a direct to Southwest customer support line. You'd have to call them or reach out by mail to talk directly to Southwest about your concerns with the software.

One reply to my reply - was each person bringing their own points, or was one person providing all of the points? Having separate points accounts would also require separate transactions, even for purchasing two tickets all with points.

Marking a topic solved means that the question was answered, which in this case was that the older operating system wouldn't be supported.

The points reservation will be separate, it's a different starting point in the reservation system than the cash and cash equivalents option. Cash and the flight credit coudl be combined, but the flight credit would only work for the person whose name is on it - it couldn't be used to cover parts of both tickets. I'm not sure if that restriction would force you into splitting the transactions. However, points and cash equivalent can't be combined, so the third person will need to find a new strategy for the balance of their ticket. If the priority is to use the flight credit before it expires, then that person should pay cash for the balance. If the priority is to use points, then the third flyer would need to determine if it was worth it to buy points (usually only in small quantities) and save the flight credit. If the points were expiring soon - good news, using cash to buy the rest of the ticket with the flight credit will extend them.

We do usually gate check the stroller and use it through the airport, but curbside everything else. I have seen boosters at MDW in the unclaimed section without any bag on them. That's probably fine - for the car seat and stroller we wanted the bag to protect them from scuffing/soiling. A distinctive bag also helps when deplaning and the bag isn't brought up for gate check yet and the captain or first officer offers to grab it - grab the blue bag! A couple of additional tips: If you are transfering flights you can have the stroller gate checked to the connection or to the final destination. Verify this, sometimes the stickers get printed out for the final when you are expecting it to be the intermediate, and vice versa would be worse. Get the stroller/bag with gate check stickers in advance of boarding, you don't want to have the gate agent call family boarding and still be zipping things up and getting your tags. Curbside attenant will need your age verification for any <2 y.o. lap babies. If your lap child is not in your lap when the FA is making the final count at the end of boarding, let them know that you have a lap child so they don't count them and delay takeoff. If the child is in your lap they be counted. You can search about milk...there are quite a few other tips on the community about liquids for babies.

@Khoferwrote: Thank you! I wasn't sure if Southwest had curbside check in- that would be ideal, for sure! We haven't transitioned ours to booster seats yet, but since we're renting an SUV, thought we might be able to get all 3 across that way with something like this... booster seat from walmart ... they fit the size requirements for the kids, so for just the trip I think it should work fine until we fully transition them to boosters. But I saw the bags are $17 from SW, so I was hoping to either purchase one ahead for less- and hoping I can get away w putting the two small boosters and the carseat base all in one bag- less to carry and less to buy! You can purchase your own bags for the items, you don't have to use the Southwest ones. From the description I think it all would fit in one SW bag, or you can look for your own bag that would hold everything.

This thread might help: https://www.southwestaircommunity.com/t5/General-Travel-Policies/Changing-last-name-on-ticket/td-p/48709 Anyway - it's possible to change it by contacting Southwest directly by mail, twitter, facebook, etc., (Not through this forum which is user-to-user) - you may need to submit a photo of the name change documentation to have things changed. The best advice seems to be to keep things synchronized, at that time for the flight in July plan to have your ticket and identification have the same name, even if it is your married name before changing. Also get your Rapid Rewards account synchronized since that's how you login, buy the tickets, etc.

@ladidottidoowrote: I would like to bring my crochet tote with me as I have lengthy lay-overs going both ways. I woukd also like to bring my laptop plus I carry a purse. Is it acceptable to bring this on board with me if I can put my laptop and my purse into the same tote-bag? Thank you in advance. Sorry to see that you didn't get a response on this before. Crochet hooks are yes. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/crochet-hooks A laptop bag plus a purse is okay as-is. A laptop bag, purse, and tote bag would be too many items and would need to be consolidated as you described. The rules don't cover what you combine into the tote, i.e. if the purse goes in there it doesn't count separataely, it's only a tote as far as number of items is concerned.

If you have it at your airport and time is available, I recommend curbside check in for the kid stuff...don't take it through the airport at all. I can't say for sure what would fit - the bag is pretty roomy though, we had stroller and car seat stuffed into one bag. If the boosters are the same as what my nephews have then definitely yes. Maybe you can post a link to the product so we're sure.

Sort of! Technically the 7 year old wouldn't be included for family boarding, you get two adults per child six years and younger, but you likely wouldn't be challenged on that if you all walked up. I've seen more than two people go with a child before, so it may or may not be enforced. You could also ask the gate agent ahead of time if everyone can go through, although they may say no in which case you need a backup strategy. If bounced, have yourself or your husband go through with both kids and save a seat for the remaining family member either you or your husband when you board in your position as stated on the boarding pass. Unless either of you had A-1 to A-60 then have that person board as ticketed and the remaining three family members at family boarding.
