“It’s easy to give 110 percent because I’m working for one of the best companies in the world.”— Josephine Francois Bandy, Flight Attendant
Photo by Cade MartinFor Josephine Francois Bandy, being a Flight Attendant based out of Baltimore–Washington International Airport isn’t just a job. It’s about being kind, giving back, and providing Legendary Customer Service. For the past six years at Southwest Airlines, Josephine has done just that. Before moving to the U.S. in 2000, she was a flight attendant in Bahrain and Seychelles, the island off the coast of East Africa where she grew up. Although moving away was difficult, Southwest made her feel right at home. Josephine credits her Seychelles and Southwest Families for shaping her into who she is: a true Leader with a Servant’s Heart. She feels lucky to have found her home with Southwest, but we’re the lucky ones. We love having you in our Family, Josephine!

Southern Hospitality “My favorite U.S. city to travel to is San Antonio. I lived there for two years, and everyone was so kind. With warmhearted people and warm weather, it felt a lot like Seychelles.”
Island Life “Seychelles has the most beautiful beaches in the world, and the people are the most inviting and caring people you’ll ever meet. I’m so proud to call it my homeland.”
Fine Food “I love to cook, and my home is always open to those in need of friendship, a hug, or a simple meal—even a little meal can make a big difference.”

“I love coming to work every day and being myself.” — Stephanie Sumida, Flight Attendant
Since becoming a Flight Attendant in 2013, Stephanie Sumida has welcomed Customers onto planes with open arms. She enjoys amusing Customers by playing bingo mid-flight and donning elaborate accessories during the holidays. An avid runner and outdoor enthusiast, Stephanie carries her zest for life from the aircraft to the Rocky Mountains. She recently soloed her first 14er—a mountain that tops 14,000 feet. Stephanie also has a heart of gold: One year, she clipped coupons and used them to purchase supplies that she then donated to local charities. If she’s not out for a run, climbing mountains, or bargain hunting, Stephanie is providing the highest level of Hospitality to Customers.

Second Home “I’ve learned that Southwest will always be here for me. Southwest is my Family. It’s my safe place, my happy place.”
Lots of Laughs “I’m so fortunate to be able to spread the love to everyone I meet at work. Every flight, I use a pair of Groucho glasses to make Customers laugh—the kiddos get a real kick out of them.”
Bargain Bird “I enjoy my time in Midland–Odessa in Texas. Not only is everyone nice, I’ve found a gem of a place with the best chicken wings for 25 cents each.”
On the Move “I may start off my day in sunny San Diego and end up in breezy Amarillo—I’m in constant motion.”

Hello I was on Flight #1878 departing from Seattle on May 25 and I wanted to express how wonderful that flight was. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The flight attendant Ashley stood out the most to me. I was traveling with my in laws and two infants and she made sure we got all our questions answered. She also tried her best to accommodate us, we are so thankful for all her help. Wish there were more people like her that took pride in their job. I will forever be thankful and recommend southwest airlines to everyone I know. Thank you for having such amazing staff Southwest!
