@SWDigits wrote: @emcadam2 a resource for you this morning if you're interested. You can check the real-time status of your friend's flight from ATL to BWI using Flight Aware here. It looks like the plane for her flight is almost to Atlanta (click on the link at the top of the page that states, "Where is my plane now?") that's cool, thank you! I'll share that with her as well. I'll watch her flight while I wait here in buffalo haha

Hopefully we can get a window too 😉 I'm lucky to have gotten A45 for my first flight, too, so hopefully I can nab a window for that one at least Also - it's a 700, so smaller Let us know how it goes. That's a little strange - since when you check-in for your first flight, you technically can "jump the line" to check-in to your next flight a little bit earlier than 24-hours prior so often you'll see the later connecting flights tend to have better positions than your first one. I guess in this case the connecting route is a busy one with lots of A-listers. That's a good sign - the A-list "business people" will tend to crowd the front of the plane so they can get off faster leaving more whole rows in the rear. I still think you'll be fine. And if no one had mentioned it yet, sometimes there is an option for upgraded boarding position for a fee at the gate, if available. I don't know that it would be necessary for you two - I think you'll be fine at low B's, but if it helps your anxiety then maybe splurge on it to get better posiitions and not worry about it. I think there are just earlier connecting flights. My friend is flying from ATL to BWI where she's meeting me, and while her flight leaves at 12:10, mine leaves at 2:05. It's odd though that we both checked in right away and I was only 10 spots after her for our connection. That's my guess, though.

I checked in to my flight today. I'm meeting a friend at a connecting airport, and she got B07 while I got B17 for boarding. Is it likely we will be able to get two seats together? If not, are people likely to let us sit together? I would feel bad asking but she's flying to my connection so I don't have to deal with as much anxiety lol

I'm flying out in a couple of days and am realizing i need more packing space than i realized - I don't want to have to check a second full suitcase, but I have a carry-on size bag I can bring. I was planning on bringing a backpack for my laptop and stuff, so would I be allowed to bring my backpack as my "personal item" and my carry-on suitcase as my carry-on? It's been a long time since I've been on a plane and can't remember what the space is like for fitting stuff under the seat.

Hello all, I'm looking at flying SW this upcoming May because I have a LUV voucher. However, I was wondering what a receipt looks like when you use one. I'm flying somewhere that will allow my travel costs to be reimbursed, and I'm not sure how it would be handled if my total showed at $75 vs. 275. Can anyone let me know the format of the reciept or link me to an image that shows what the reciept in the email looks like with one of these?

@CareforNOLA It's funny... I, too heard from SW today. A flight that was originally changed from max 8 to 800 was switched to a 700. However, it's been sold out for weeks. So, they called me to let me know it's been overbooked. Fortunately, there was actually a better flight option (saves over an hour of travel time, but didnt pick it originally because it cost more) so i got switched onto that one and they're going to send me a $200 voucher! I'm impressed. Lots of complains about SW's service lately... first time flying with them and I'm very happy!

@CareforNOLA oh nooo!! That's unfortunate I'm sorry 😞 but hopefully that means I'm in the clear, because I'm flying May 1-11. May I ask what flights they were?

I'm taking a trip at the beginning of May. 3/4 planes were always set as 737-700s but one (the very last leg) was scheduled on a MAX 8 and switched to 737-800. How far in advance would I likely be notified of a potential cancellation? Are certain flights being cancelled more often? I am a young and nervous traveler and am dreading being stranded somewhere. This is my intinerary: BUF-BWI-JAX JAX-FLL-BUF Seeing all these less than 24h cancellations is freaking me out !!

Thank you @bec102896 ! I have a couple of questions - you mentioned the mobile boarding pass. Since I will be out of Canada, I want to try to limit my cell phone usage (text, calling & data) as much as possible. Do I need internet access to get my mobile boarding pass? Is there a way for me to get a physical one printed when i arrive at the airport? Also, in regards to water bottles - am I allowed to bring an empty reusable bottle in my carryon and fill it once I am past security? I'm try to avoid disposable bottles as much as possible 🙂

I've never flown southwest, but I'll be flying alone for the first time and have anxiety. The first, short leg of my flight I will be alone, but a friend is meeting me at my connecting airport to fly with me the rest of the way. I'm really worried that we won't be able to sit together, because I'm going to really need the emotional support after flying alone & navigating the airport alone along with the nerves for the flight itself. I, of course, won't know our boarding positions until a day before, but if they aren't good then is there anythign we can do?? I was hesitant to put in any kind of special needs request because I'm sure there are people who need it more than me, but I am really concerned about experiencing a panic attack on-board.

Hi everyone, I'm 21 and I'll be flying by myself for the first time in just over a month. I'm Canadian but it ended up being more affordable to drive to BUF and fly from there. I'm a bit nervous, as the last time I flew was around 5 years ago, and I've never flown alone. Between the ~3 hour drive to Buffalo, staying at a hotel alone the night before, and navigating flying alone, it's causing me some worry. I know that BUF isn't too complicated, but I've never really done the whole check-in/boarding thing alone - it was always with my mom or, in the case of the most recent (5 yrs ago) trip, with school. Basically, I just want to know if anyone has advice to make it as seamless as possible. What are the Dos/Do nots?? I've scoured the internet but as a planner & a worrier some personal advice would be appreciated !!
