My biggest problem with EVERY OTHER AIRLINE?   Having to pay exorbitant fees to put a bag in the baggage hold, then watching idiots fight for bin space with bags that are too big.    Want to bring home a $20 bottle of special wine or spirits?   Oops, it just cost you $30 to check that bag.   That bottle isn't cheap anymore.    Tell me again why you care where you sit?    ... I'm more selfish than you.   I want my SWA air fares to be cheap.  That means more of us need to fly to keep the seats full.      So I disagree with your notion that not flying is good for any of us.   In fact, it's downright counterproductive,  Covid or otherwise.    It's an FAA directive.   Do you find yourself berating children for following their parent's rules? Ugh... this is tiresome.   As someone who has flown over 50,000 miles with a mask,  and got Covid from someone at home... without symptoms...I can factually and definitively say:   Some (if not most) Covid transmission is asymptomatic.   My only symptom for a week was loss of smell.  One day of fever.   And NO ONE in the family ever had a cough.    Wear your mask.   Get out there and fly.   This plane to 🇵🇷 is almost full.    Buen dia! ... The key here is:   1.  Points earned on the credit card are redeemable for anyone, and are credit towards a companion pass for the person linked to the account.   The companion can be anyone else other than the card holder.    2.  Points earned flying are useful also towards A-list.   So someone who is flying a lot is better to be the card holder, so the companion is not losing the opportunity to earn A- list credit by flying free.    It sounds like you are the one flying, so if Chase won't swap you over, you should get a new card.      My wife and I have the same issue.   She has her own card,  and is a card holder on mine.   It makes a bit more sense to use my card, so I can earn a CP next year.   But beyond that, either of us can use our points to fly one another or anyone else.     Since I'm preferred,  I don't use points for my own flights.    ... I knew it was too late for me to be doing math.    Cents per point vs. Points per cent never makes sense.    So yeah,  I guess it makes sense.   Three other Points: (Pun intended)   1.  Short trips are relatively more valuable with Points due to eliminated taxes being a larger percentage of the flight cost.    2. International flights are less useful,  since taxes must be paid in cash.      3.  Points flights can be booked and canceled with impunity.   If you start doing that with your TF, you'll be chopping them up into new record locators,  which makes reuse a bit more complicated.   And any cash you attach to those new reservations with inherit the expiration date.   If you suspect Covid or other factors might make your travel unpredictable for the next year,  points might be the safer bet.  ...
