@thecrew74 You've unfortunately missed the opportunity to get a refund via Rapid Rewards points by way of a travel fund to points conversion, perhaps all is not lost. That probably would have worked well for you. You did not say when your flight is scheduled to depart, but if Southwest has or does change your schedule you can probably cancel and get a cash refund. If the current schedule for your flight is different than when you originally booked it, contact Southwest and inform them that the new schedule does not work for you and request a cash refund. If no change has yet occurred, wait until the day before your flight before canceling, a change could still occur enabling you to get a refund. You can find your current schedule in My Account on southwest.com or on the Southwest app while logged in as the ticketed passenger. There's no benefit to canceling now versus the day before the departure if a schedule change has not occurred so wait it out. --TheMiddleSeat

Southwest is being incredibly greedy and money hungry right now instead of showing compassion for everyone. They should be rewarding responsible customers who are not traveling during this time. Now, they want to penalize responsible citizens by not showing any mercy to the travel fund policy that WE ALEADY PAID for when we choose southwest. Customers do not just choose airlines because they have a cute logo. We choose our airline based on what they offer. They are acting like they didn't just suck us in with their policy only to hang us dry during these difficult times.

The "accounting" for the tickets is done at the individual passenger level.

@CindyRD I would send Southwest a written letter explaining the situation and your request. Most of us here are other customers so I don't know if it will work though it can't hurt. Click "Contact Us" to get their mailing address. I'm really sorry to read about everything you wrote 😞

A lot of people hear and understand your frustration however what southwest is doing is no different from any other airline right now. The Other airlines are letting people change/cancel for free and those who cancel get a travel credit to use within a year of when they booked there flights. All the other airlines are temporarily matching Southwest's policy. One idea is you could wait to cancel and hope the flight is cancelled by southwest or delayed by over an hour and they could then look in to a refund. If you would like Southwest to look in to your specific case you can reach out though one of these methods: Submitting a Suggestion and/or Complaint -Blake
