Several people at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport spoke to CNN's Nick Valencia on Thursday about their travel experiences with Southwest this holiday season.
"I mean, it's just par for the course. This is flight travel, everyone's trying to get everywhere at the same time. Unfortunately, Southwest took the brunt of this year's travel unfortunate situation," Roderic Hister told CNN.
When asked what he thought about the lack of lines at the Southwest counters at the airport, Hister said: "Maybe speaks to the improvements that they're trying to make, because there's not long lines, people aren't here complaining. So, maybe you know, the efforts to redeem themselves are working."
Winston Williams, standing near Hister, said he intends to still use the airline in the future.
"I like Southwest. I mean, the bags are free," Williams said.

That's just terrible they wouldn't offer a voucher at the counter. This airline is such a dumpster fire. How long do you think it will take them to reimburse tens of thousands of people? If they do at all?

You couldn't pay me to fly southwest again. Made it home today on a Delta flight without incident. They were paying people $1000 each in Visa gift cards and free hotel stay to give up their seats that's how bad it has gotten.This was at DTW.

If you were stranded for 4 days somewhere instead of the comfort of your own home I think your outlook may be just a bit different just saying. Luckily I had the means to fork out the additional money for hotel rooms and food for four days not to mentiona flight home with a different airline. Some people weren't so fortunate and having been living at airports! Now I have to submit everything for reimbursement and hope they consider it "legitimate ". Thanks Southwest for bending us over Merry Christmas!

There were hotels. They didn't give me a voucher because they stated cancelation was solely due to weather, which we all know now is a lie. Put me thru hell for no reason.

I would think reasonable expense would be standard lodging for myself and 3 children, meals and flight on another airline since they could not accommodate me.

Southwest has been booking hotels, rental cars and tickets for customers impacted by the delays, Ryan Green, Southwest's chief commercial officer, told the Journal.
Where us this happening? I asked the counter staff at DTW for a hotel and meal voucher and was flat out refused because they were blaming the flight delays on the weather!

No airline has had the catastrophic failures of Southwest, none. I have been stranded in Detroit for 3 days while other airlines are flying out and I did rebook with another airline for a flight tomorrow as Southwest would not have gotten me out of here until after the new year. Their catastrophic failure has been worsened by their lies that it was the weather. Had they been honest I could have rebooked with another airline sooner. I fully expect reimbursement for lodging and food under their policy as this was a controllable cancelation under their policy.

Southwest has denied thousands of folks vouchers for hotels and food the are entitled to by lying saying it is the weather when really it is a catastrophic failure of their airline. Hopefully they do make it right and meanwhile I have filed a complaint with DOT and will not stop until they do.
