I use the drink coupons because I get them, but would rather have the discounted Wi-Fi.

Even then, I don't find the reclined position to be much more comfortable than non-reclined. I have my laptop crunched (luckily not permanently damaged -- yet) multiple times by people who slam their seatback back with no warning. As much as I hate the latest Southwest seats (slimline, in Max and some 800s) at least they've limited the range of recline. (One silver lining at least.) 😉 I don't prefer reclining most times either, and happy to let the person behind me keep their airspace/trayspace. I can't remember the last time I reclined my seat and personally don't see a need for it. The difference between the fully upright and fully reclined position really isn't that noticeable to me. Now that tray tables are used primarily for laptops instead of Coke and peanuts, the airlines would be smart to reduce or eliminate recline all together. On the flip side, I'm a tall guy and when I fly Economy on other airlines, my knees are planted firmly against the seat in front of me thanks to the less-than-adequate seat pitch other airlines get away with. Whoever sits in front of me isn't able to recline whether they want to or not. That doesn't happen on Southwest, thankfully.

HERE'S A SIMPLE AND EASY SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM: When a passenger asks for a pre-boarding pass, the agent should ask him or her if they need physical assistance getting down the jetway? If not, then simply ask them to go ahead and board with their group. Interestingly, I experienced this being done in Denver several months ago. I was not well at the time and asked the agent at the gate for a pre-boarding pass just to test it to see how easily this could be done. The agent asked me this question which I thought was courteous but also direct and to the point. I had to admit that, no, I would not have any trouble making my way down the jetway. I honestly thought that Southwest must be training their gate agents to ask this question. However, subsequently I have seen the same long lineup of people pre-boarding who look like the picture of health. There will always be people who are not truthful when asked this question. But most will respond like I did and board with their group.

Thanks, Bill. Southwest is so far ahead in other respects that I don't understand the indifference to the way the present practice makes you and me open to service from other airlines. We can get unpleasant flight experience, and sometimes more favorable pricing, from many carriers. If the favored passengers are those violating Southwest's baggage conditions, then why not be open to a pricing advantage or a schedule advantage elsewhere?

What isn't "fair" is that you expect that others shouls have to adjust their seating for your personal financial arrangements. If a family wants to sit together, they should book and check in together and should cetainly purchase EB. Then reimburse each other. Saving seats is just rude and makes others responsible for your personal choices.

I don't have an issue with the handsoap, but I'll support your effort. As someone who has other sensitivities/allergies, I know how frustrating the situation can be. Best of luck in getting a reply!

Yeah, I've always appreciated how lighthearted and upbeat the SW crews are. Makes the stress of flying a bit easier. I think my funniest moment was when the stewardess placed a bag of peanuts and a bag of pretzels on the floor at the front of the plane before takeoff and asked us to bet on which one would win the race to the back during takeoff. I forget which one did win, but I remember that everyone got a kick out of it.
