I fly more than 50x per year in SWA and I can also state that the WiFi situation is terrible and seems to be getting worse.  On three of my last four SWA flights the WiFi was inoperable.  It does seem like the 800s/Max’s have more problems than the older 700s. Although your post is a few months old, I will chime in and say that the SWA WiFi seems to be getting worse.  I am only able to connect on about 50% of the flights I am on now.  The flight attendants are always "resetting" it, but to little avail.  I also think the issues are worse on the newer 800 series aircraft.  It would appear something has changed that makes connecting more difficult. ... I just wanted to say that on three out of my last four flights, the WiFi didnt work either and tat I have the same observation that you did:  The Newer 800 models Wifi is much sketchier than the older 700 Model aircraft.  In fact, it has got to the point where if I see the aircraft at the gate is an 800 model, I start letting people know (Whilei am onteh ground) that I likley won't be able to respond to their texts and emails until I get back on the ground.  Very frustrating since I fly a ton. ...
