Companion Pass not being extended

I messaged Southwest on Twitter inquiring if they would extend the expiration date of the companion pass for those that earned it in 2020, and expires Dec 2021. Their answer is basically no: Hi, Natalie. Thank you for reaching out and for your patience. I'm sorry to say, but we're not currently making exceptions to extend Companion Pass status past 2021. I regret any disappointment this may cause, and we hope to see you and your companion onboard soon.

Maybe if we contact Southwest and express our unhappiness they will revise this stance. The 2020 people got an extension of 6 months, then a year, so why not extend that same courtesy so those that earned it in 2020 and lost a year of travel as well?

Not really surprising, there are plenty of opportunities to fly now.

You didn't lose a year of travel.   Plenty of places to fly in 2021.  I'm on my 13th vacation, courtesy of my CP.  Flights are extra cheap in many cases.

Any bonus you got last year was just that...a bonus.   And you could still fly.   I hit 50k miles last year.

So I'm really not sure what your issue is.    I don't understand why the people complaining about the CP aren't even using their CP.   Only a very few exceptions like Belize and Turks are closed,  and that's certainly not the fault of SWA

I could complain that I earned a CP for this year that I could have gotten for free.  But I don't expect to get another year out of it.   They already gave us the bonus points to get there.   Now I'm incentivized to fly and spend like crazy to get it for 2022.

My wallet already hurts.
