No birth certificate

I’m unable to get a birth certificate at this time for my 6 month old that will be on my lap for the flight. What other options are there? Do I have to bring a certificate?

Medical records might also be used if they show a date of birth.

Just checking - this is for a domestic flight? Obviously you'd have a passport for international travel that would also have a date of birth.
