@Nicolay it sounds like you are already starting off on the wrong foot with SWA. Mistakes do happen, but In my opinion SWA needs employees who are flexible, reliable, dependable, and hospitable. If I would have been in your situation, I would be waiting by the phone for the call from the Recruiter. I would take the phone call so seriously, that nothing else mattered. If the time I was supposed to get called came and went, I wouldn’t go back to sleep... I would try to figure out if I did something wrong. Perhaps my time zone is different, etc. Don’t forget that you are the one looking for a job, not them. You need to be available when asked. I sincerely hope that you re-think the unprofessional comments made by you questioning the Recruiters professionalism (As you can see from other poster, the lack of professionalism won’t get you far). Attacking the performance of someone when you haven’t even had a first interview says a lot about character.

@rickyricardo make sure you check your spam folder. Often times, SWA’s emails have gone to spam. If you check spam, and still no email, be patient and stay positive. Good luck on the process.

@Rachelanne you can definitely pre-board after group A is called and before group B. The down side is I cannot promise someone will be able to help you get on the plane with all of your baby equipment. Good luck on traveling, and remember... other passengers might get impatient, but that’s okay. Unless they have experienced the joys of traveling with children, they can either offer to help or keep their thoughts to themselves. Take your time and take a deep breath. One day you will miss traveling like this (or so I’m told) by my mother in law. 😀

@Tuttyfruity90 the 2 checked bags do get loaded into the belly of the plane. Your carry on items do not count towards the checked bags. One thing to keep in mind, one carry on bag and 1 personal belongings (purse). Over head bins do fill up, so plan ahead. Have a a great flight!

@Horton234 I’m sure you will be a travel pro after your adventure concludes back in Austin. The good news is your only have to check in for your flight in Austin. You will only have to endure TSA once (unless you leave the security screened area in the terminal. When you get off the plane in Houston, look at the departure screen and locate what gate you are leaving from. Once you get to the gate, have your boarding pass ready. It’s actually very simple to change planes(just as long as the flights are on schedule). Hope you have a great trip.

@DD2 perhaps the position was filled by another candidate? SWA does receive tons of application submissions. That would be my first thought, not that the Recruiter remembered you and rejected your application. One thing to always keep in mind when applying for a position (this comment is not personally directed to you or your situation, just for understanding) accurate information on your resume is important since Recruiters have the capacity to verify actual employment dates, education, etc. If there is an integrity issue from the beginning, chances are not good for employment.

@brmari422 did you contact SWA and let them know you could not make it for the interview? Life happens and Companies like SWA understand that. Where this situation can go wrong is if you didn’t have the courtesy/professionalism to contact and notify. If you did notify SWA that you could not make it in, I see no reason why you could not apply again.

@Cywillia below is what I found on SWA’s career FAQ page: Can I call or email someone regarding the status of a submitted application? We love that you’re excited to hear from Southwest. Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide individual updates; however, your application status is on your dashboard. Once we’ve filled the position, the job status will change to “closed.” “Under Review” means we’re still in the process of reviewing candidates. Please be assured all applications submitted online are carefully reviewed by our Recruiting Team, but we do receive a high volume of applications. Only the most competitive applicants will be contacted for an interview. You can also check out the FAQ’s by clicking on the link below: https://careers.southwestair.com/faq Unfortunately, you will more than likely have to wait it out and see if you get contacted for an interview. Good luck to you!

@roxanmcgill your enthusiasm is a great way to show interest in a new career, however you might want to put more effort into showcasing your interest and talents. I was a recruiter for a different Company and like SWA, reviewed thousands of applicants on a daily basis. My biggest suggestion is not to make the employer do all the work. Spell it out for them! What position are you looking for? What experience and education do you have that will make you successful in the position? Have you searched SWA’s career site and created a dashboard? Are you proactive? All great ways to professionally show your interest. Good luck on fulfilling your career aspirations!

@dmtav327 honestly, checking the status on your dashboard is your best bet for communication with SW. Make sure you check your email often and check your spam folder. I have read on other discussion boards saying that SW’s emails were going to spam. Just remember that the hiring process is long, but detailed. Timeframes to hear something back vary by candidate pools and what the recruiters have to work with. Remember to stay positive and patient. Good luck!

@erinmarie28 sorry to hear about your flight. Sounds like you had a long drawn out day, and this experience pushed your exhaustion over the edge. I personally have not experienced a situation like this on SW, but since you fly often with them, it’s important to voice your concern. If I was you, I would reach out to them on Twitter. My experience interacting with SW on Twitter has always been great. Good luck and I hope you get the response you are expecting.
