@Passenger1C wrote: One thing I am taking away from your story is the amazing flexibility SW had with the flight voucher extensions. I have never heard of a carrier extending that many times. Just to be clear, as the terminology can be confusing: Southwest doesn't extend travel funds, or vouchers. Southwest will reissue expired travel funds as a voucher, good for 6 months. Vouchers generally cannot be reissued.

@jtbedell my suggestion is to be patient and continue to check your dashboard for updates. I would not contact HR as mentioned above. Remember that the hiring process takes time and potentially hundreds of other candidates are also being looked at. Until your application status changes to “No Longer in Consideration” you still have a chance. Now is the time to show your worth. Word of advice... watch your tone on the discussion boards. Your frustration is coming across in your words. You don’t have the job yet, do you want to come across as difficult?

@flybkmh77 yes, the position needs to be posted before you can apply. I’m sure you can imagine how much interest there is in this position. Have you set up your dashboard with SW? If not, you should. My advice to you is that if you are serious about being a FA with SW, it’s not a question of if you have to check for the posting daily, it’s a “I want to” check daily. With that being said though, you can sign up to be notified workfor.us/southwest on the link below: https://flightattendants-southwest.icims.com/jobs/intro?hashed=-435768595&mobile=true&width=414&height=617&bga=true&needsRedirect=false&jan1offset=-480&jun1offset=-420 Also- For privacy reasons, you should edit your post and remove your email address. The dashboard is the best way to communicate until SW reaches out to the hopeful candidate.

@skydragon continue to check your dashboard for updates. Yes, 6 weeks is long for any hopeful candidate, but remember that hundreds of other applicants are in the same boat as you. Hopefully you will hear something soon, but until then focus your interest into searching what strengths and skills make those currently in the position successful.

@Ccervantes5 that’s awesome that you were contacted for a language test. That is one step closer to becoming a FA. I’m sure you know that the selection process is long, so don’t be surprised if you don’t hear something tomorrow. Remember to practice patience and continue to check your dashboard for updates. Sending you luck!

@Krista_Salvati yes, you are correct. There are certain times SW posts for FA. I believe AA, and most major carriers follow this hiring process. When the positions are available, the posting goes up. No need to be alerted when the job posts. I’m sure as an eager FA applicant, you will be checking the career site on a regular basis. Best wishes, and good luck!

@Firesmear are you able to edit your submission on the dashboard? If you can, that’s your best bet. Mistakes do happen, but it’s important not to rush during the applying stage. Important detains can be missed therefore leaving your application incomplete. Hopefully SW will be able to edit. Good luck!

@venisembrown Just remember that you learn something everytime you apply and don’t get the position. When the timing is right, you will know and that’s when you are going to soar. Don’t get discouraged, working for SW is a very competitive with thousands of applicants. In my opinion, you are already 2 steps ahead of the next round of applicants because of what learnings you have received to date. Good luck, and please continue to do your best. You will get there.

@Janene889 thank you for sharing your story and for recognizing Bobby. What Bobby displayed cannot be taught. SW made the right choice by having Bobby as a FA on their planes. It says a lot about you and your character that you were able to recognize a stranger, an employee while you were facing life changing news. Very humbling! Please send SW a DM via Twitter and tell your story again. It is one that deserves to be said again. My thoughts are with you and Kris.

@mjoos1814 wrote: Hi! I've been travelling (exclusively) with SWA for years as a disabled person, and the only issue that I sometimes have is that one of my disabilities can sometimes be invisible (that is, I don't always need to use my cane or other assistive mobility devices). When I check in and say I don't need a wheelchair, I'm told to get a pre-board ticket at the gate, which is fine. When I get to the gate and ask, though; I'm often given the side-eye and reluctantly given the pre-board ticket because I don't look disabled. I don't feel as if I should have to prove my disability to the gate agents, nor do I think I should have to use my assistive mobility devices on a rare day when I'm actually feeling well enough to not have to use them just to justify needing to pre-board. You may ask why I need to pre-board if I'm feeling well, which is fair. The way my disability works, it's basically an either/or situation - I can either walk around the airport or I can use my energy (my spoons, if one is familiar with The Spoon Theory) standing in line with my carry-ons, looking for a seat, etc. By the time I've done all of that, I will most likely need a pre-board at my layover, so it's just easier to initiate the process from the beginning and save my spoons for the rest of the day. Is there a way this can be addressed? Thank you so much! Our Agents ought to ask whether the Customer needs help to board and in the event that they require a particular seat installed to oblige an inability to decide whether a Customers meets all requirements for preboarding. Our Employees get preparing and ought to perceive that not all inabilities are promptly evident; in any case, I'm sad if your collaborations haven't been charming before.

If I don't want to take my medical supplies with me in the cabin as a carry on can I check them as luggage and not get charged for them? They would be in addition to my two regular pieces. Trina I generally keep my medicines in my handbag. This in an expansion.

@Bslotafly,
You got two great responses, and I echo the sentiment that we'd love to talk to you about your experience. Please reach out to our Customer Relations Department so a Representative can address the situation. We know that travel can be a stressful experience, but there is never an excuse for poor Customer Service.

Hi @FutureFA,
Thank you for your interest in a Career at Southwest Airlines! Unfortunately, due to the number of applications that we receive, we cannot provide a specific update on each individual application. However, you can find application updates on the specific Inflight dashboard here.
Due to the overwhelming number of applications we received when the Flight Attendant position was posted in February, it is taking longer than normal to complete the process. Applications will be reviewed in the order which they were received. We appreciate your continued patience through this process!

@Smivy wrote: I’m sad to say that I had a laptop stolen out of my backpack today. I got some food between gates B10 & B12 at around 6:05pm. I sat down at a charging station before quickly gathering my phone and phone charger and headed towards my gate to catch a flight #653 to Dallas. I realized I had left my backpack at the charging station between gates B10 & B12 and rushed back to that spot at 6:10. I was happy to see that it was still there. I noticed some of the same people sitting in the area, let out a sigh of relief, and headed back to catch my flight. I looked into my backpack and noticed that my work laptop was missing. I ran back to the same spot and saw the same people and called 911, who transferred me to the airport police. An officer showed up at 6:15 and wasn’t very helpful. I filed a claim and asked him to check the security footage. He said that is done by another department and couldn’t request for it to be reviewed. I have my suspicions of who took it, but I had a flight I was going to be late for if I waited around for a sergeant to come. I ran back to my flight and barely made it. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to handle this? Again, this happened at Chicago MDW at the charging station between gates B10&B12 at around 6:00-6:15. I’ve filed a police report but that isn’t going to go anywhere unless I get some help from Southwest. That's a tough situation, I would have been tempted to continue following up and miss the flight depending how hard it would be to catch another one to Dallas later. That said, keep following up with Midway and Midway police remotely, I don't think Southwest will be able to add much other than checking their own lost and found. If you were on a connecting flight at Midway and used your computer on the inbound leg, file a lost item report in case it was left on the inbound aircraft. I wanted to double check, only because I have seen this happen before: Did you have the computer out at the charging point? If not, think where else it might have gone missing between the time you noticed and you last remember handling it - for instance it might be in the lost and found at the checkpoint if it came out there. If you were at a hotel call them. If someone knabbed it and then decided after looking at it that it was too secure to hack or that it wouldn't be worth it to them, they may have ditched it where it could be found by custodial staff. If someone snagged your laptop out of your bag while you were getting food, they may not have waited around while you came back, I'd be less suspicious of anyone that was still sitting there in the same positions...but you mentioned having some suspicions, you'd need to convince the officer to a high degree before he'd be able to search anyone for it. I hope that it is found successfully.

@dfwskier wrote: @ One thing in your favor for the wait time will be that since you are on Hong Kong time, you can call during your daylight hours and find a time that shouldn't be as busy in the mainland USA. If you are A-list then use that number which also has shorter wait times. But even the general number should be relatively slow at 8 a.m. CDT which would be in your afternoon time, or call them during your morning which would be overnight hours CDT. A word of caution about making a call. A Hurricane is scheduled to hit the east cost of the US within a day. Thus lots of people will be calling to reschedule flights. A call at ANY time of the next few days is likely to have a long wait time. You might want to wait til next week. Concur with that @suzanne1009 - if you can wait until next week I wouldn't call now.

I've tried to find something about this and failed. That being said, I'm sure the percentage is not zero.
