Our resident historian, Brian Lusk, goes way back to take a look at some big events in Southwest history in a piece we like to call the Wayback Moment. In this episode Brian recalls the steps that led to the implementation of the Wright Amendment.

Absolutely! There's nothing more annoying than having an overcrowded cabin because everyone has brought their oversized (not really carry on sized) bags instead of checking them.
Way to go Southwest!

Please... Mr. Fox - please post the music title & artists used in the videos - this one especially - it's a great tune and it is driving me nuts that I can't find any info on it. I've seen a number of other folks asking for the title/artist on different sites - thanks - entertaining videos and good use of music... just needs attribution!

What I want to know is why has Southwest cut back on the flights they had to and from the Baltimore/Philadelphia area. Seems like Summer would mean more flights, not less.

You make us want to fly through Houston just so you can handle my bags!! My daughter and I fly Southwest exclusively all the time between the East and West coasts because she is now a brand new young actress. Quite a lot of opportunity for our bags to get lost, but we've NEVER had even a small problem thanks to people like you.
So you wanted to do the commercial -- and you made it happen!! Good for you! Maybe one day you and she will get one together - the infrequent actress/frequent passenger and Freddie "the bags" Braggs! ha ha! We LOVE Southwest -- and we love people like you who make it such a fantastic airline. All the best to you, Mr. S!!

I think I want my luggage on return trips to fly in the T-7. I usually have a lot of dirty clothes by that time anyway, and this will keep things nice and aired out. That last suitcase was kinda rank by the time it got home - the T-7 could have really improved on that one!

this ad, this behind the scenes shoot and this entire campaign is fabulous on so many levels. However, my favorite is that you use real employees in real work situations. Keep it up.

Marilyn Wann-- realize that this airline cant afford to pay the passengers who had had an uncomfortable flight, and to be completly honest with you most "overweight" people that fly southBEST understand that this is what it is. the airline designs its seat for thinner people and if you larger then realize that you are in store for SOUTHBEST to ask you to purchase another seat ,ok?

Gary Kelly, I am loyal to SWA and I too share your birthday - March 12. I even was on a SWA Flight that day. It was my 55th birthday, so now I am a senior citizen in some places. Thanks for a good airline. Keep your employees happy and keep your customers happy!

Last year we were flying out of Orlando and my grandchild started getting chills from a bad sunburn. The flight was delayed because of weather and I went to the counter and asked if there was a way to get a blanket from the flight that had landed earlier. There were no clean blankets on that flight, but Southwest is always helpful so Emmuel (I think that was his name) went down to another gate to ask for a blanket. I think he had to go to four gates before he was successful. I meant to write a letter, but as time goes on...... Anyway, I hope somehow he learns of this. Just one more example of Southwest's dedication to service and their customers. Yeah Southwest!!

Its so beautiful how the "Luv of Southwest" was shared by all of its community, especially the loving couple with a great-smile, that only looks like Southwest. Thanks Southwest for the Luv, that only continues to grow, especially in Harlingen. Sincerely Jayne. PS your service was very much appreciated from California to Colorado and back home again, thanks.

Southwest Airlines understands how seeing, touching, hearing, and doing opens up a whole new world for students—they are teachable and impressionable moments, said Karen Price-Ward, Corporate Community Affairs Manager for Southwest Airlines. We must continue to show our youth that they can do whatever they set out to do, if they work hard and believe in themselves. To read more about Continuing the Legacy click HERE

I was at the Tennessee Titans Music City Miracle back in 1999. It was the AFC Wild Card game vs. the Buffalo Bills. About half the people in the stadium were pissed and heading for the doors until Frank Wycheck threw it across field to Kevin Dyson after the Bills kickoff, who proceeded to take it to the house. It was by far the best single special teams play I've ever seen. Everyone came running back to their seats cheering, jumping all over the place, hugging random people. It was just another wild card game until the last 16 seconds or so when we all got to witness something really special. Made it all the way to the Super Bowl that year, but a yard short from taking it down. Don't worry though. Chris Johnson is the future.

I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN SOUTHWEST CAME TO LONG ISLAND AND HAD FLIGHTS TO FY MYERS, FL. NOW THEY DO NOT HAVE DIRECT FLIGHTS ANY MORE AND ONLY ONE FLIGHT THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET OFF THE PLANE. I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE ENOUGH PEOPLE ON LONG ISLAND, ESPECIALLY EASTERN LONG ISLAND, THAT SOME FLIGHTS COULD BE DIRECT TO FT MYERS. I THOUGHT THAT BUYING AIR TRAN WOULD INCREASE THE ROUTES AND FLIGHTS, BUT NOW THEY ARE LIMITED TO ONLY TWO, IN JAN., THE PRICES HAVE GONE UP AND THE SERVICE LIMITED. WHAT GIVES WITH THIS ONCE PEOPLE FRIENDLY AIRLINE? IS PAYING FOR LUGGAGE NEXT?
PLEASE TRY TO CONSIDER THE OLDER POPULATION. I KNOW THE BOTTOM LINE IS PROFIT, BUT MAYBE A LITTLE LESS PROFIT ONCE IN AWHILE TO ACCOMADTE WOULD BE IN ORDER.
