Is carrying a hair dryer in your luggage permitted? We plan a trip in August 2017. If I purchase my tickets now;then, something comes up and we are to cancel, is there anyway we get our money back?

As conversion continues, our Ground Support Equipment folks are working hard to convert AirTran bag tugs over to Southwest tugs, 122 currently to be exact. Not much to that, right? Well, as we found out, this is not just about changing colors, but is an effort to save money with new systems and fuel efficient fuel injection engines. As you will see in this video, as equipment arrives from ATL, the DAL GSE “pit crew” immediately begins the conversion process. Their goal is to finish one tug per week, and as a result of their efforts, they produce a brand new tug ready to hit the Ramp.

Don't look now (or do... yes, please do), but it's time for SWA Stew: Episode 2. Included in this episode are our trials and tribulations of winter weather, how to download some Southwest Swag, and feeling like a honey-roasted NUT. Oh, and Brooks can't read.

I just checked on travel with AirTran & discovered they charge a flat fee of $20 for the 1st checked bag & $25 for the 2nd checked bag + if you want to assign your own seat, it's another $6. I expected a bag fee for domestic travel, & $0 for the 1st checked bag on international travel.
Will SWA's "no fee" policy roll over to AirTran? I certainly hope so.
I'm a loyal SWA customer for domestic travel, & I was looking forward to using AirTran for some international travel. But with their bag & seat assignment fees, I'll stick with other carriers who do NOT have these international fees.

I had not flown SW for years until last Sept. I went to Las Vegas, Spokane then to Portland on to Oakland and back to Phx. All of the flights had flight attendants and even a pilot that sang to us except from Oakland to Phx. It was wonderful to be entertained like that. Awesome crews that SW has working for them. Not to mention the luggage is free. SW is my airline now.

I was on an incredible flight from Midland to Luv, flight 2099, on December 29th, I was seated in row 12 on the left side of the plane. In front of me was a guy and a girl, and another girl. About 30 minutes into the flight the guy (Russell) got up and walked to the front of the plane. The long and the short he proposed to the yound lady that was sitting in front of me (Nicole). He asked her to come forward, down on one knee, and asked if she would marry him. There was tumulterous clapping and shouting, Nicole was a bright red color and throughly embarrassed. Above the noise I could not hear if she accepted. Shortly after the pilot came on and offerred his congrats for the new couple. Russell works for SWA and lives in Midland while Nicole lives in Tulsa, they met on a SWA flight. Russell said from that first flight he knew that he wanted to marry her. I have flown for many years but I have never seen all the flight attendants crying at one time, numerous camera flashing. My congrats to the couple, long life and many wonderful years ahead.

I have always been fascinated by weather, especially growing up in Texas and going to college in Oklahoma...weather just tends to happen there. With all of the crazy weather sweeping across the country this time of year and causing all sorts of problems for travelers, we thought it would be a great idea to sit down and talk with Southwest's Chief Meteorologist, Rick Curtis, to get an inside look at how Southwest monitors, predicts, and then communicates the coming weather to Employees and Customers. This is Part One of this series. In Part Two, I am going to sit down with our Proactive Customer Communication group which is responsible for getting the word out to Southwest Customers about the changing details of their flights. Come on into this podcast where the weather is nice!

Your video is funny and I can definitely appreciate not getting charged for luggage. I am reading the book "Nuts" for my Management 301 class, which talks about your company's culture and how it puts employees and customers first. I think it's amazing, and am very impressed how Herb Kelleher can lead a team of employees to work extra hard for the common betterment of the company, the employees and the customers! I have never flown Southwest before, but now I want to experience everything I have read in the book and will fly my next flight with Southwest!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointed that my son's computer was taken out of his bag in New York. It was in need of repair and he was taking it to Chicago with him and would have it repaired there. I don't understand why this is still going on, the stealing of items. This is where the camers should be, at least some type of security. I try to always fly Southwest but I'm not sure it this point what I'll do. The Apple Computer needs to be located.
Thank You

At Southwest Airlines, we're all about Going the Distance to keep LUV alive! That's why we are featured in the new film starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long hitting the big screen Friday. Going the Distance is a film about a long-distance couple who make their relationship work even though they are on opposite sides of the country. You may not know this but Southwest actually used our very own Employees from Long Island MacArthur and New York LaGuardia as actors in this film and if you don't recognize the ticket counter, that's because the production company built an exact replica of a Southwest counter to use as the set at a vacant space in New York's JFK Airport. The R-rated comedy premiered last week in LA and Southwest Airlines had a spot on the red carpet to capture all of the action. Check it out!

I would love to go back to Washington DC. I took a tour bus to DC last year and was really disappointed. I need a wheelchair to go and do things a wheelchair was taken on the bus but no one offered to wheel me around so I could see the sights. The best I got was seeing out of the bus window.

If you're going to go back to the 80s then lets go back to when you weren't taxing the most loyal fliers you have. The weekly or biweekly Unaccompanied Minors that can now no longer fly because of the $100 per trip. What difference does a bag flying free matter when the cost of a ticket has now doubled. We are no longer flying our daughter (who booked at least 20+ flights a year). I wish you would reconsider.
