Hi @evanm4120,
Thanks for your interest in Destination 225°! You can apply to the program with previous flight experience, but the Cadet pathway is designed for someone starting without previous flight experience. Prior flight time does not provide any advantages during the application and selection process or reduce the cost of training.

Today Southwest Airlines is launching a new career program which provides pathways to becoming a competitively qualified candidate for future Southwest First Officer positions. Introducing Destination 225°.
On a compass rose, 225° is the southwest directional heading; therefore, Destination 225° was developed to lead aspiring pilots to Southwest.
We are proud to announce Destination 225° and the four distinct pathways that currently make up the program:
The Cadet pathway for those looking to start their flying career
The University pathway for collegiate aviators who attend a Southwest partner university or complete a Southwest Campus Reach Internship
The Military pathway that bridges the gap for active military pilots who do not yet meet minimum requirements
The Employee pathway for our own Employees—those with some flight experience as well as those who are just considering following their dreams. More information for Employees can be found by visiting SWALife >My Life >Career >Destination 225°.
You may have heard that there’s the potential for a pilot shortage across the industry. Our Destination 225° program will help Southwest reduce our dependency on the open market by allowing us to train future pilots on how to fly… and, specifically, how to fly the Southwest Way.
For participants, the program paves the way to a career at the nation’s largest domestic carrier based on passengers carried, Southwest Airlines. Implementing these pathways will not affect the highly-competitive process through which we hire Pilots. Whether a pilot is hired from our Destination 225° pathways or through the traditional process, the pilot will be held to Southwest standards.
Please visit the Destination 225° page on our careers site for more information! You can also checkout FAQs for the program here.

Hi @Clemlem65,
Thanks for your interest in joining Southwest Airlines! You will not need Colorado Driver's License, you just must have a valid driver’s license issued in the U.S. If you are actively planning a move to Denver, you can list that address on your resume and Southwest profile and answer ‘yes’ to the question that asks if you are a current Colorado resident. We look forward to seeing your application soon!

Southwest Airlines Emerging Leader Development Program (ELDP) is launching its newest program installment: ELDP California in October 2019. Applications open today (June 24, 2019)!
ELDP California is a 14-month job rotational program designed to develop the next generation of excellent Southwest Frontline and Operational Leaders through hands-on experience, training, and mentoring.
ELDP California will be offered in three host locations: Los Angeles (LAX), San Diego (SAN), and San Jose (SJC) and applicants must provide proof of current residency in the State of California. Selected participants will experience on-the-job training, rotation experiences, and Leadership placement in the host location they apply to.
During the program, participants experience two seven-month rotations serving in the Above the Wing Supervisor and Below the Wing Supervisor roles. The program’s structure helps highly motivated participants gain a 360 degree view of our Operation, learn about Southwest’s diverse business, distinctive Culture, and our People-first mentality.
Participants motivate Teams, develop others, and implement strategies that positively impact our business. Our future Leaders also work to hone their Leadership skills, and have great exposure to our Senior Leaders, who engage by providing their time, feedback, and advice during Development Days at our Headquarters in Dallas, TX.
Following the successful completion of the program, participants are placed in an Operations Leadership role that aligns with their strengths, professional goals, and business need in their location. Leaders commit to serving in a location for 12-months after completing the program and will have the opportunity to continue growth and development through optional post-program experiences.
Are you a leader in California looking to jump-start a successful, challenging, and rewarding career at Southwest Airlines? Click here to apply to ELDP California June 24 through June 28, 2019!
