I think some flights are available on the 31st if you do a same day return flight it will be costly.

Baggage will go to the final destination listed on the bag tag. You can fill out a report at the BSO at baggage claim so they can contact you when your bag arrives for you to figure out your next step

Yep same situation happened to my mom however she didn’t find out until boarding they told her your not on this flight and when she got to the gate agent they were able to get her a seat but it was rough
hopefully it works out or even if you get 2 of you on the flight it will be easier to rebook 1 instead of 3

Some airports have no hotels to give out the airline partners with several hotels when they are full they will say they have no hotels. Your best bet is to book a hotel (not the 5 star $900 suite) and keep the receipt and same with meals keep the receipt and submit to Southwest once travel is complete

So your daughter made it the same day not sleeping in the airport for days If so I need your daughter to pick my lotto numbers. At this point be glad she made it that hasn’t been the case for many others.
now with the bag I’d go to the BSO at baggage claim and file a delayed bag report so they can call you when the bag arrives. There is a major mess going on right now so it may take several days before the bag arrives while it may be tough patiently waiting will be the best option after the repot is completed

Unfortunately no one here will have phone numbers to BSOs and even if we did those phone numbers BSOs are full of people so agents won’t pick up the phone.
Your best bet is to go the BSO and talk to someone face to face

I’ve been told by multiple baggage service agents that bags will be sent to the final destination the question of when they have no idea.
my bag was checked in Austin back on the 24th I finally arrived the 26th after lots of cancellations however my bag is still in Austin
if you arrive I would go to the baggage office and file a report and they should call you when your bag arrives for you to pick up for a voucher or set up delivery

Did you speak to a SW employee to cancel that one leg it’s possible that they rebooked you then if you missed that flight you become a no show
I would look up your confirmation number on the website and see if the return flight is still active
I really hope SW is waving the no show policy this week because that would be the right thing for them to do

So a very similar situation happened to my mom and I this morning. They swapped our plane from 800 to 700 which means 32 less seats the ops agent made no announcement about people being put on standby. After an hour delay they swapped back to the 800 yay well they left everyone on standby and when we went to board 32 people (including my mom) were told your not on this flight (awful word choice) they had to all go wait in line and be cleared on the standby list luckily in my case everyone made it but it was handled poorly. They should have just cleared everyone and asked those affected to reprint boarding passes or refresh app

If your not traveling within the next 2 days I would avoid calling hold times are long calls are being disconnected
you can try changing your flight online or on the southwest app
a SYSTEM WIDE waiver is out for flights though the 27th any flight you have booked between now and the 27th can be changed without a fare difference being collected.

On my last MAX flight the music was off or broken I think some FAs just don’t turn it on or think it’s distracting when they make the welcome aboard announcements.
before Covid and the MAX8 being suspended from air travel an admin did post the music list here on the community not sure if they still do though.

This brings up an interesting idea maybe for kids who get BS fares they should get a Wi-Fi code instead of the drink coupon
i am curious is it really worth buying kids a BS fare? I mean the points are nice as long as they have a RR account but you could just pay for upgraded boarding for them or EB check in and save a lot of money or points or the old save seats game with just you buying a BS fare.

The only time you are fare protected where you can change your flight without extra cost are in the following circumstances:
1. you bought Wanna Get Away plus or higher and it’s after midnight day of departure for the same day change feature
2. A weather waiver or airport/airline need creates a travel advisory/waiver in most cases you can change for free within 14 days as long as your city pairs don’t change
3. day of departure flight delay/cancellation then you could change for free to another flight
4. southwest made a schedule change ahead of your departure date then you can usually change 14 days earlier or later without fare difference
keep in mind in all cases if one free change occurs you would be required to pay fare difference on future changes unless you have a delay/cancellation or proactive schedule change by SW
in very rare cases they *might* be able to price protect if there was a Southwest related issue (system auto cancels when it shouldn’t have)

Personally I book direct though the hotel company 90% of the time a Marriott thanks to status but on occasion I’ll find a really good deal though priceline express deal and usually with about 2min of research I can figure out the hidden hotel and I can Google express deal coupon and usually find 5-15% off to make the deal sweeter then I call and add the rewards number to get the perks not always stay credit but late check out and upgrade usually without issue
I usually earn my SW status on segments so those few SW points don’t bother me I like my suite upgrades more
