Flying to Florida in the summer is rough

That it is "all the TSAs fault" seems to be the well rehearsed response by all Southwest phone support, check in personnel and gate agents, for the multiple impacts getting selected for a secondary security screening causes. It's TSA, not Southwest, so you get nothing from them to help rectify the situation of getting a late C group number when you went to all the trouble to checkin and your spouse on the same reservation gets A group. It is true that it is TSA for being selected for the secondary security screening for the one flight with the extra screening, but all the issues on subsequent connecting fights are caused by Southwest's reservation system and boarding process. There is no reason not to get assigned your legitimate place in line on the rest of your connecting flights as the TSA screening has nothing to do with them. Even worse then not being able to board with the rest of your party on the reservation on subsequent flights is losing your TSA Pre Check from paying for Global Entry on the rest of your connecting flights. On international flights you usually need to go through security again after clearing customs. On my recent trip back from Mexico, the rest of my party with TSA Pre Check cleared security in 5 minutes and then waited another 50 minutes for me to finally show up. This is very much Southwest's issue. Other airlines with different reservation systems have none of these issues.
There are things that Southwest could have and should have done on my connecting flight. I clearly should have had an A group number as all other folks on the reservation with me did. All the numbers are gone since the Southwest system would not assign my connecting flight boarding position since it wouldn’t assign the 1 st flight. However, Southwest lets "special circumstance" folks board after the A group, before the B group. When I asked the gate agent in Miami, Monica V., if there was anything I could do to board at least close to the rest of my party, she parroted the party line that is was TSA’s fault and that there was nothing she could do. When I mentioned boarding after the A’s, she got that hostile look like I was just another low life trouble maker trying to cheat my way onto the plane before my turn. She stated that was ONLY for disabled passengers and my issue was not a Southwest problem.
An even better solution is for Southwest to still issue you your boarding position number for your connecting flights and not remove TSA PRE from your connecting flight boarding pass.
This is Southwest's problem, they just don't care as it will cost them money to fix their reservation system.

I believe LGB is an airport where they board from both front and back and a lot of people try to rush the front maybe you can be the few who make the run for the back door and maybe the last couple rows will have a few seats available since that longer line of people trying to get the front will move slower
you can always ask for extra time boarding maybe they can help which is between A and B groups or check back later to see if you can upgrade boarding for 1 person and then save a seat

i click A list preferred, so just take me directly to the authentication screen that is NOT an iframe- please!!!!🙏
But do try going to the free texting page and accepting it, then going back to A-list preferred login. For some reason that worked for me, whatever setting it is that gets put in place by accepting the texting permissions.

Blake,
I will be qualifying for the companion pass in a few weeks. Can I book my flight for a summer trip now, then after I qualify, use the companion pass to add my companion to that flight? Or does the flight need to be purchased after I have qualified? Thank you for this clarification.
YES! I actually recommend booking and if the price goes down you can get a credit then once you have the CP you can add it
one other suggestion if you have points you can book your companion on points just to hold the seat until you can add your companion in case that flight were to be sold out you don’t want to end up with that problem so this just helps avoid it if you have points available

I forgot to mention, I also filed complaints with the BBB, CFPB, FTC, Attorney General and currently in the beginning steps of the arbitration process. I also tried to hire a lawyer and couldn't find one that would take on big bank Chase in the entire city of Tulsa Ok, so that just indicates how rigged the system is in my opinion.

I'm biased toward DEN because I grew up there, but the new renovations are looking nice!
Anyway, I currently have a mission to fly to or connect through SWA's largest airports, so far my favorites apart from DEN are DAL and BNA. I wasn't a fan of HOU when I went through there this past Christmas, but maybe that's because I was in the international gates area and felt far removed from the happenings of the airport. I have yet to try out AUS, BWI, LAS, FLL, MCI, MCO, OAK, SJC, SMF, STL, TPA - clearly I have a long ways to go. Not to mention, it's been awhile since I've been to both LAX and SAN.

I'm still wondering if SWA is going to compete with Frontier and United and add nonstop service between Denver and Montego Bay. Since both have added that service, I keep thinking that SWA would want to get in on that action, but so far it hasn't been announced. Maybe they'll announce on the 21st for this coming winter? Who knows.

If there are certain routes that only have a non stop one or 2 days a week I find them to be Saturday or Sunday so first search a random weekday (say Wednesday) if you don’t see a non stop search Saturday/Sunday then if you see a non stop then you will know usually the only non stop for that route is day specific for the schedule then you can just search flights on that particular day of the week. I know it’s a little extra work but once you see the trend of a schedule you can usually figure out what days a certain flight operates during that schedule.
You can also ask here and I’m sure some folks on here can help with telling you if a non stop from A to B exists.
That's a good method @bec102896 unfortunately the online tool can't be limited by day of the week or season (MDW to PNS for instance only during warmer weather but I fly the route only in January).

I wish they would bring back the kicktail coupons because an email to HQ doesn’t feel the same as there is not a guarantee the employee sees the thanks vs me handing that kicktail they feel the LUV even if there is no prize except knowing that you have made someone’s day (which is a prize in itself)

This is exactly why so many people stuff the overhead bins with riding lawn mowers, pool tables, utility sheds, tool boxes and so on. People hate the baggage claim system because it gives problems like this.
If the machine didn't work, then the lazy workers should have brought the baggage out by hand.
Ask for a partial refund of your flight.
Calling employees, lazy because a Baggage belt breaks is silly grow up!
The employees are busy trying to get other flights bags before they all pile up and get even more of a delay. If they all go and start grabbing bags one by one from behind the scenes, it would take even longer than a group of two or three people trying to fix the baggage belt.
Isn’t your home airport MCO? So would you call all the workers lazy for not bringing bags up during a thunderstorm or immediately after the thunderstorm ends? Guess what it takes time to catch up after a weather delay, as well as after a mechanical issue with the belt, in some airports, they have to call the actual airport maintenance team since the belt is owned by the airport

Wow...Where do I begin?
First, I echo what everybody else mentioned. Agree 100%. SW's unique business model makes it stand out from the competition.
One of my personal hobbies involves me taking day trips to various places and letting somebody take me there: Go in early in the morning, relax for the ride up, spend the day there, and come back in the late afternoon or evening. In the picture above, I'm boarding a local regional train bound to downtown Los Angeles. For the longest time, I've always loved taking train and bus rides aboard SoCal's local regional rail system, the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, and numerous regional and inter-city bus routes. SoCalFlyer97 not only likes to go to places; he tries to make most of the journey to/from too!
Yes, driving is would have been much quicker than taking buses and trains but I would then miss out in the opportunities gifted to me during the journey to/from while I battled hectic and congested freeways.
Back in 2021, my job required me to make periodic business trips to my company's production plant in Tijuana Mexico; thus I got Global Entry so I can cross back into the USA quickly via the SENTRI pedestrian lane. With short waits at the border coming home, that meant I could do day trips down south and not have to spend the night in Mexico during my daylong business trips there.
Global Entry also includes TSA PreCheck, and I wanted to see if I could take advantage of any new day-trip opportunities with this benefit via the airline industry.
The following year, when I found out that Southwest offered multiple hour-long departures daily from SoCal to destinations in Northern California, Vegas and Phoenix from early morning 'til late night, I learned there was a possibility to complete day trips to these destinations both for work and pleasure via the LUV airline for affordable rates that I could not find anywhere else:
Combine that with having Global Entry to get through TSA quickly and with plentiful public transit options to feed me from a suburban park & ride lot into my primary airport at SAN (or decent 24-hour parking rates at my convenience airport at ONT), I saw new opportunities thanks to Southwest for both work and play.
I would have to say that my short-haul day trips that I post throughout this forum would not be possible on any other carrier.

Sorry your flight was late
2 hours is nothing these days. My last 2 trips have both been 3* hours late but stuff happens things break. I’d rather it break before take off even if that means I’m stuck on the plane instead of having to deal with an emergency landing.
you can always send an email to southwest and maybe they can send you a voucher for the inconvenience.

I completely agree that sitting close to the front of the plane is key! Being one of the first people to exit the plane will save so much time! If you want to make sure you get an early boarding position, set an alarm to remind yourself to check in exactly on time, and if you still don’t get an A Group, you can always pay to upgrade. You can also check your bag so that you don’t need to potentially run through the airport while lugging a suitcase! Checking your bag also makes it so that you can ride in the very front row if there’s a seat available.

I have two fav must-do's to look forward to when I have a long connection:
1.) Bring my Kindle to binge a book (**and the charger!!**)
When buried in a good book, you're not at C19 waiting for your plane to arrive! You're in a make-believe forest or the 1930s or on a tropical vacation. Reading is the fastest way to make 4 hours feel like 15 minutes. I'm obsessed that Kindles don't take up much space or weight in my tote bag. Fellow Fourth Wing lovers, I know you know what a difference it makes.
2.) Talk to someone older and wiser to learn a lesson!
I know most people are blocking out the world with top-of-the-line earphones and endless texts to answer. But at almost every gate is going to be an older gentleman or lady who would be so happy to chat and have someone to tell their stories to. Over the years, I've met the most incredible people who have had the most wild lives who are patiently waiting out their long layover near the pre-boarding area. It's so special to share a connection with them and just ask about their lives, experiences, and lessons.

Since there's not a way to modify your application after clicking submit, I'm afraid there's no way to correct your application or fix that incorrectly-selected box. The only alternative would be to submit a new application with a secondary email address - be sure you are careful with those questionnaire answers the second time around!
