@jksobonya wrote: Bumping this back up because TUL flights continue to give me grief 😅 I've been planning another PHL > TUL trip for May - Fri-Sun. My Friday flight moved from a departure of 8AM to 6AM (nothing I can do about that), and my Sunday flight got moved up an entire day to Saturday, because they cut flights entirely on Sunday. Here's the thing - there are "options" to get from Tulsa to Philly by booking one ways (or multi-city). They may not be totally convenient, but they exist. I ended up canceling the Saturday flight entirely and I booked 2 one ways for Sunday. TUL > DEN and DEN > PHL. There's a 7 hour layover 😂 but I don't care lol. Here's an update on how all of this worked out this weekend: My original DEN > PHL flight with the long layover got delayed even more due to weather and it was not due to leave DEN until after 8PM (orig 7PM) and arrive in PHL until after 1AM - closer to 2AM, actually. While en route to DEN I looked to see if I had any other options and the only flight that had availability was a flight going from DEN > MCO and then MCO > PHL. The connection was 45 minutes and I would get in PHL before 11PM. I went to the gate agent and asked if it was possible to switch. The gate agent looked it up and said there was *one* ticket left on the MCO flight just for me (!) and gave me updated boarding passes with positions C 22 and C 51 🤣 (Wouldn't my position be C60 if there was only 1 ticket left? Maybe not if there were other cancellations, etc.) After getting a quick lunch I checked the MCO flight again and it was actually delayed by 30 minutes, so my connection time expanded to an hour and 15 minutes, with a new departure of 8:25PM. (was 7:55PM). Fine by me. The flight to MCO was set to leave at 1:35PM, but then we heard that there was also weather delays with it coming in, some planes were being diverted because they were running out of fuel, and we may not be able to leave on time. Well now I start to panic 😁 Our plane did eventually arrive, but it took awhile to get to the gate and deplane, clean, board, and finally get going due to weather. We didn't leave until 2:45PM, over an hour behind. The flight tracker said we were going to arrive in MCO anywhere from 8:15 - 8:25PM. Original arrival was supposed to be 7:10PM. Well ... great. I was convinced I was going to miss the connection and spend the night in Orlando. So much for shaving a few hours off my trip! I should have stayed in DEN all day! We ended up landing a little after 8PM and we got to the gate at 8:15. I had 10 minutes to deplane and get to the gate. 3 things were in my favor here: 1) Despite being one of the very last to board in the C group, there was a middle seat open in ROW 2, which I took. Imagine if I was in the back of the plane. 2) The flight to PHL was literally at the next gate in the terminal so I didn't have to run a mile in the airport or anything. 3) If the PHL flight was not delayed by that extra 30 minutes, I would have missed it. I made it on with a few minutes to spare, and believe it or not, despite being the very last person to board that flight I got a seat in row 4. (Middle seat of course, but row 4!) Made it back to PHL by 10:55PM. 😁🙌 ...that was exhausting lol. One of the closest calls I think I've had trying to make a connection! Now that I'm home, I'm checking my RR activity and noticed something interesting. I somehow got over 5,000 points for the TUL > DEN flight - and that flight was the smoothest of the day with no problems lol. I know I didn't pay that much for that flight - it was around the same price as the others - actually, a little less, around $100 total I think? How did I get so many points? 5/24/21 XXXXXX - Denver, CO - DEN to Philadelphia, PA - PHL 05/23/2021 +773 5/23/21 XXXXXX - Tulsa, OK - TUL to Denver, CO - DEN 05/23/2021 +5,494 5/21/21 XXXXXX - Philadelphia, PA - PHL to Tulsa, OK - TUL 05/21/2021 +741 --Jessica

Hello, Did you receive a confirmation e-mail for the purchase? Did you navigate away from the page as the transaction was completing? If so, it's possible that an authorization went out for the purchase, but if the purchase was not finalized and you never received a confirmation, that authorization that was made should drop off - it could take several days for this to happen. Not exactly the same situation, but I made a reservation on Saturday and cancelled it within 24 hours - when you cancel a flight within 24 hours, you can get a credit card refund. The original authorization is still hanging out on my credit card as of today. I suspect it will drop off (or be reversed) within the week. I'd recommend contacting Southwest through social media via direct message (Twitter, Facebook), they are normally very fast at responding there. --Jessica

I decide to randomly check out flights to Houston: So I click the "select dates" button which takes me to the low fare calendar. Problem is the flights actually start at a lower price than what the previous screen said: Yes, that page would be useful, but only if it provided accurate information. --TheMiddleSeat Ha! That's amusing. I looked up the Las Vegas to Long Beach CA flights which were for $50, and the low fare calendar said they were actually $49. Not too far off, but I checked several other cities and the price listed as the low fare was correct. FWIW, this page is accessed by clicking the $50 sale graphic on soutwest.com, and then clicking the "Not sure where you're flying yet? Get inspired by our full list of offers" graphic. Whenever they have sales like this, this page is there to view "all" the offers by airport ... it's just not sorted by price, which is what people want when there's a $50 sale or a $99 sale or whatever it is. --Jessica

I agree, I wish there was a way to sort fares by price by airport! It should be pretty easy to add a $ filter to this page - or at least a "sort by low fare/high fare" option: https://www.southwest.com/html/offers/nationwide_sale_NonstopConnect_210504.html?redirect=false But it could be expanded even further by removing the "departure city" filter so you can see all cities and thus all fares. Like a master list. The only way to find the low fares currently is if you go through each departure city. I found a couple of $50 fares out of Las Vegas, for example. --Jessica

You could get a selection of Fritos, cinnamon cookies (shaped like airplanes if I remember correctly), Wheat Thins, BelVita biscuits, and of course pretzels. It's possible that some of these snacks were only available on longer flights. Southwest hasn't served peanuts since 2018. --Jessica

@pronto wrote: After contacting Southwest, they explained though we had just booked it, they could not issue us a refund. Their policy was to send us LUV vouchers instead. This depends on what you mean by "just booked it." If you booked the flight less than 24 hours ago and then tried to cancel, you absolutely could have gotten a refund. If you waited more than 24 hours though, you get travel funds good for one year since the date you booked your flight (not the date you fly). I am not sure how you got LUV vouchers when you should have gotten travel funds good for one year; my guess is you had travel funds good for one year, they expired, and they were then reissued as LUV vouchers. Southwest allows travel funds to be extended by 6 months by reissuing your funds as vouchers but they deduct $100 for the ability to do this. Unfortunately, waiting until November 2020 was too late to extend your funds to September 2022. Southwest extended travel funds if you booked and cancelled a flight between March and September 2020 or had travel funds that expired within this time period (I think - it's been a year now and I can't remember if expiring travel funds were automatically extended!). It was mentioned on numerous occasions on Southwest.com and here in the forums. I can't tell from your post when you originally booked your flight - the "end of 2019" could mean December, but you could have booked it in October or November or even before then. Still, if you did book your flight after September 7, 2019, you would be out of luck unless you actively booked and cancelled a flight within March 2020 - September 2020 to get your funds extended to 2022. --Jessica

I agree that the Redeem and Refund lines being right next to each other is a little confusing. I have several lines like that, and I think what happens is if you redeem a flight with points, but then cancel it later on, the lines are next to each other in the Points history, but the Redeem shows first and the Refund shows second, when it should be the other way around, since the pages go from most recent activity to oldest history. Why the lines appear next to each other as if it all happened on the same day is mysterious - I definitely know I redeemed a flight with points on Date A but cancelled it on Date B, but the History shows it all happening on the same day. Regardless of that - if you cancelled and rebooked your flight with points my guess is your rebooked flight cost 30K more points than your original fight did. --Jessica

Is this the line to check in / check your bag? When I flew home from Vegas last month the check in area inside the terminal was 100% packed and there was a line that not only went out the door, it went so far down the sidewalk it was past the entire Southwest terminal area. I've never seen anything like it in my life and was thanking my lucky stars I did not have to check a bag. --Jessica

I've had layovers this short before - a lot of the times when you switch planes the plane you are boarding is in the same gate area as the plane you are getting off, so it doesn't take long to get to the plane. If you're lucky the planes will be right next to each other. They will probably already be boarding by the time you get to the gate, so you can just go right on! --Jessica

Ha! The problem with that is that I have to actually win ... lol ... on my last two Vegas trips, all I did was lose! Didn't win anything decent at all. Ironically, last summer when Vegas was a ghost town, I won back everything I played and then some. That luck has gone ... but who knows, maybe things will turn around in July 😉 Anyway, flights are expensive is my point! Really really above average in price. I'm planning a trip to Vegas July 7-10 from PHL, and I don't know if the whole world is also trying to go there now that mask mandates are being relaxed, but flights are unbelievably expensive. The cheapest roundtrip flight I can get for the dates I'm looking at is $625, and the next cheapest is $698. Each way is averaging $250 to $450. It's a major kick in the wallet. I don't want to use my points to book a flight because I'm trying to get A-List, but I *can't* justify paying $700 or more for one roundtrip flight to Vegas lol. There's also a fair amount of flights showing as "unavailable" which I'm not used to seeing. I don't know if that's a result of the recent schedule updates or just a ton of demand, but some flights are showing as unavailable for all 3 fare types: I remember not being happy when flights were averaging $400 roundtrip pre-pandemic. I'd gladly pay that in comparison to this! --Jessica

Hello, At this time travel funds can only be used by the person named on the ticket, regardless of who purchased it: https://www.southwest.com/travel-funds/ A Southwest LUV voucher, which is not the same as travel funds, can be used by anyone. What some people do is wait for their travel funds to expire, and then contact Southwest and ask for them to transfer the travel funds to a LUV voucher. This can be done on a case by case basis and Southwest charges $100 for the service, so it is up to you if you think it is worth it based on your travel fund value. --Jessica
