It sucks for sure. But, when you are the person that needs preboarding, or the helper, you really see how much it sucks. Flying with special needs is itself, very stressful. I know it increases stress for everyone, but when I was the "helper" - getting someone situated in a seat just took a lot more effort, to make sure the things they needed were in the right place. I'm not saying you should change your tune, as your observation and complaint are in fact worthwhile, yet, giving them some time to get situated usually helps things in the bigget picture, and, the helpers are usually taking the center rows to be in the right place, so its not all doom and gloom.

The pilot seat. The jump seat in the cockpit. The Flight attendant seats. And the only reason I won't sit there is they won't let me. If they would, I would totally do the jump seat. I bet its cramped but 1000% more interesting of a flight.

Save it for couples? have you ever been on Southwest before? Every man for himself. But, aside from the commentary, the seat in question doesn't recline. other than that, its pretty much like an aisle seat, but the "aisle" lets you escape the aircraft almost immediately should a crash occur, so, I count that as a benefit? AND, at least one of the arm rests is for certain to be yours, another benefit. AND, I can break a couple up and induce some stress into their travel, which I received when I got a B boarding position on early bird.... Sorta "paying it forward" - so, I dunno, depends on my mood, but that could be a benefit? The seat is leather, a benefit. statistically, there is one less chance for a bag in that overhead compartment given the removal of the seat, so, another benefit. Some might say, its the BEST middle seat on the airplane (I would).

Sorry buddy, but it is a "SCAM" Southwest knows how many A-Listers are on a flight at any given time - they could tell you how many are on the flight BEFORE you purchase Early Bird - but they don't. Southwest system allows for A list numbers to be vacated and then "taken" by the next available customer checking in. And it has the ability to automate Early Bird check in - so it has the ability to move you up automatically - but they don't. Southwest has the ability to track customers and know which are scanning their boarding passes via smart phone at the gate - so they know which early bird customers are not printing their pass (meaning, they could change the boarding position without someone having a printed copy of an old boarding position). But the biggest kicker is this. My boss had a late B boarding position from PHX to Louisville on 10/16/2019. He walked up to the counter to complain. They told him it was a glitch..... and gave him A1. So...... all the A's are not taken. Some are held back, and the complainer gets the cake. There ya go. I like Southwest. Bags free is great. But its frustrating at the same time. Paying more for the same thing as the next person feels really awful. And they should rethink their canned responses for how worthless that makes a customer feel.
