I am glad that you missed law school the day they taught law. Otherwise, you'd be a killer litigator.

Nobody is complaining about those who need to preboard. The complaint concerns those who are taking advantage of the situation. I am happy that you have found a sense of zen and are willing to let people walk all over you. Not all of us subscribe to your philosophy.

Very good point. All things will be abused but SWA should at least try to curb it. They don't.

That is awesome. I have seen the effects of "Jetway Jesus" on multiple occasions. 10 wheelchairs board. Once you deplane, eight unused wheelchairs are left and the majority of the preboarders are miracuoulsy cured and shuffle off. Meanwhile, SWA ignores the problem.

I choose to use Early Bird because I do not always have the opportunity to "check in" 24 hours prior to a flight. But yes, Early Bird is no longer an effective means of guaranteeing a proper seat.
The biggest problem is that people will pay for one early bird seat and then "hold" seats for the rest of their party. It's ridiculous.
I now go out of my way to challenge people. If somebody is attempting to hold three seats I will tell them that I am sitting there. That person has paid for a single seat and obviously does not have to move. But I'll be darned if they are going to prevent me from sitting there.
If you want to hold a row of seats then go to the back of the plane. Otherwise, I'll be sitting next to you. The flight attendants know the ruse. They know what's going on and they choose to ignore it and/or be complicent it this ruse. That's unacceptable. Stand your ground I say.
I will not try to break up families or anything like that, but again, you are more than welcome to grab a row in the back of the plane to ensure that you sit together.
I have contacted SWA several times regarding this matter and they consistently fail to remedy the situation. They typically sent out a reply indicating that people enjoy the open seating policy. This response ignores the situation.
I used to really enjoy flying SWA. The employees were friendly. The flights were on time. The experience was good. Things have really taken a 180 degree turn. I am at the point where I am going to cancel my SWA card, burn up all my points, and fly with a different carrier.

This is patently untrue. SWA must make a reasonable accomodation. That it all. Nothing more.

I have been a customer of Chase for 32 years. That is ending now. I had a business double charge my card and Chase sided with the vendor. I wrote the Board of Directors and they sent me a canned response. I also filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and my state Attorney General.
If they are going to allow for fraud then at the very least, make life difficult for them. Hold them accountable and ultimately do not give them any future business. When you do cancel your SWA Chase Vise (I assume you have it), let SWA know as well.

I have little love for SWA but I support Brandon. You are so concerned about "grace" and "luv" but now you are going out of your way to lodge a complaint against Brandon. You admitted that your conduct was wrong but still you have come on this forum and are criticizing an employee for doing his job.

I've seen this abused many, many times. SWA has allowed this to matastasize over the years and now it's common. SWA can stop this but it's easier to turn their heads and act like it's not going on. They don't have the will to fix the matter.
I have no problem with a person that is wheel chair bound boarding first. But why are they allowed the premium seats that people have paid extra for? Why can't they sit in the middle or even the rear of the plane?
What if you had a simple fee of $5 (nominal at best) to preboard? The abuse would not stop but the filthy person who abuses the system might not come up with the five bucks. I believe it would marketedly reduce the abuse.

The only reason I fly SWA is because I live closest to Midway airport. The airline has really gone downhill over the last five years. SWA used to be on-time, affordable, and overall solid. That is no longer the case. Even on my last flight the attendant bumped no less than four times. I was on the aisle and she was a large woman. It's tight. I get it. But if you are going to bump into me at least have the professionalism and courtesy to apologize. Standards are so low at SWA. Changes need to be made.
I'll hang up now and wait for the same apologist to come on the thread and defend SWA. He knows who he is.

Interesting take. I do like the Hyundai anaolgy. Let me say this: it is part of life but that does not mean that you have to take it nor does it mean that you are barred from voicing your concerns.
SWA, over the last five or so years, has really gone downhill. It starts at the top. The CEO should be removed.

It's sad. I've seen people walk up to strangers in a wheelchair and offer to push them knowing that they will also preboard. It's disgusting. SWA needs to go to assigned seating.

I agree to a certain degree but for other reasons. I realize that seats 1-15 are always available for upgrades. 100%. I've seen situations where 10 or more people preboard with wheelchairs and then walk off the plane as soon as it lands. You see all the empty chairs sitting there. It is clearly abused and SWA does not have the balls to do anything about it.

Agree 100%. The replies are canned. There was a time when SWA would take your concerns seriously. I even received travel vouchers in the past. Granted, they expired because I didn't use them but at least it made me feel appreciated. The airline has gone in the wrong direction over the last five years. Changes should be made at the top starting with the CEO.
