I sure hope all you follow through and switch airlines. That should definitely free up some space on all these completely full flights we've been on lately. It will be nice to be able to stretch out a bit with that empty middle seat. This post kind of reminds me of a casino a few years ago that announced they were going all non-smoking. All the smokers were furious. They whined and complained for a couple weeks claiming that they would never set foot inside that casino again. They claimed that casino would definitely be going out of business for this choice. Eventually a lot of those people adjusted and slowly made their way back to that casino. Time will tell I guess.

Okay I get it but won't you have the same issue on every other Airline being no one else has an open seating policy?

Open seating isn't even on the list of why I fly Southwest. All the whiners and complainers, it's going to be curious to see how many of you actually move on to another airline because of this. Now that there is going to be assigned seating they'll be plenty of others who refused to Fly Southwest because of their open seating, ready to take your place. There's plenty of other airlines out there folks if you don't like what's happening, move on.

We fly SW 95% of the time, because of open seating, free bags, and selection of flights to the west coast from Baltimore. If you eliminate open seating, we will more aggressively look for other airlines to book, on price (including bag charges), since SW will now be like the others.
So open seating is the deal breaker for you? If their fares are still the best option you'd rather pay additional fees for your bags on another airline? I'm fairly sure you can fly non-stop to the West Coast from Baltimore on Southwest so you'd rather sacrifice that for a layover on another airline because of open seating?

Finally, thank you Southwest. As in a list preferred number for nearly a decade, this is Christmas in July for me.

Boo Hoo, if you got a problem with the change of policy let your feet do the talking and go fly another airline. This change is long overdue. I welcome the change, too bad I couldn't start next month. I'm so over all the people abusing the pre-boarding policy and those people who pay for one early bird check-in and save a whole row of seats for family and friends.

One of the new A List Perferred perks is 2 free drinks coupons. How do I actually use those being there's not a physical coupon to hand them. It does show up to free drinks on my boarding pass I believe.

In the past my points have always been added to my account the same day or the next at the very latest. For the record it's 2 days and if 4,500 points were added to my A-list there's no reason why they shouldn't have been added to my Rapid Rewards points and to my companion pass tracker correct?. My points activity for the 17th also show nothing was added to the account so there is an error somewhere.

I've had the credit card for well over 10 years now so I know exactly how it works. Usually rapid reward points are posted to my account within 24 hours of my billing statement. My billing cycle ended on January 17th. According to my statement I earned 21,587 points. Looking at my rapid rewards account today no points were added to my Southwest rewards points that are redeemable for flights and no points were added towards my Southwest Companion Pass. However 4,500 points were added towards my A List rewards tracker. So obviously there is a problem somewhere here. Would it be on Southwest's end or Chase's end? I emailed Southwest and got the standard form response which accomplished nothing. Who should I contact about getting this situation rectified?

Well when you have 15 pre-boarders in wheelchairs on your departing flight and only 3 of those pre-boarders who wait for a wheelchair to get off of that flight, I'd say that proves it. Even the flight attendants laugh about this. It's another miracle place they say as we depart the plane ourselves. Today I think it's pretty clear that this situation just continues to get worse. When your A-list preferred and have 30--40 people pre boarding before you with so-called conditions, something needs to be addressed.

One of my Southwest credit card perks is a few yearly complimentary business select upgrades to an A1-A15 boarding position. If I do this, will my Companion Pass Traveler automatically get assigned to that upgrading boarding position right behind as well?

Came across this article about Southwest limiting the number of early bird check-ins on select flights. Is this true and has anyone experienced it?

Seriously? That's pretty sad that you have to make a statement like that being the entire country has been dealing with a major storm and record breaking frigid temperatures the past few days. Thousands a flights have been canceled or delayed on every Airline, not just Southwest.

Jessica, I've been missing the boat the past couple years by using an old Southwst CC that didn't qualify for the A-list perk. I recently upgraded to the Priority Card. I own a bar/restaurant and use the card for business purchases. I can easily rack up 30,000 points per month.

Hi gang, new to the forum and new to the A-list which I'm totally unfamiliar with so I have a couple questions. I'm I no longer required to purchase early bird check in for my flight being I'm now on the A-list which I believe gets me priority boarding? My wife always travels with me via the Southwest Companion pass. Will she also be able to board with me as an A-lister or do I still need to purchase early bird boarding for her and check her in separately ? Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.
