I’ve tracked a pair of headphones that were left on a plane when I arrived in Jacksonville. Yesterday I tracked them on the tarmac. Today they are the east side of Jacksonville. I called SWA but they only said to file a lost item claim. It’s not lost anymore. An airline employee has taken them. If I can track them on the tarmac, right outside the concourse, then I’m pretty sure someone knows they have them. Should I file a police report? How do I take this up with SWA who didn’t listen the first time?

I guess that it is not possible that another passenger made off with your headphones -- is it?

Sure, file a police report, but it does seem a bit much to assume an employee took them. Plenty of other people could have seen them and picked them up.

Are you sure they aren’t in the lost and found? The signal may show them on the tarmac when they are actually inside the building?
Anyway, file lost item with Southwest, the airport, and also the police report especially if you need it for insurance purposes.

Here is the lost and found information depending on where you think it was left:

You should file a lost item claim with Southwest
Then you would have to involve law enforcement but I can see them questioning the jurisdiction as to where the alleged crime occurred versus where the item is now.
Best of luck.

How would this be different than any other theft report? You would always report the crime where it happened and go from there.

The OP may not be planning to get the item back at this point, but could need to file the report for insurance perhaps.
Maybe the person took the item home to charge it and brought it back to the airport. Who knows?
Good luck @rgoble21 I hope the item turns up in the end.

Thanks for letting me know about the process.
