@kookoomawmaw wrote: The folder contains my passport, and I am scheduled to fly to Europe in 6 days. @kookoomawmaw that is unfortunate, ugh! I'm sure you already have the information but here is the "Get a Passport in a Hurry" page published by the U.S. Department of State. @kookoomawmaw wrote: I did fill out the lost and found form on their website. I don't work for Southwest but I do spend a good chunck of time on the discussion forums (call me crazy). From what I've seen reported by others (unfortunately there are tons of lost and found threads though many with news of very happy reunions) it takes about 10 days for something to make it to the central lost and found facility, get matched in the lost & found database, and for them to contact you. That's for electronics when the person entered the serial number in the online lost and found form. They have your personal information (obviously in your passport) so I'm guessing they will also be able to make a match. But that timing won't work for you so if I were you I would assume that you need to get a new passport as soon as possible using the contact information provided by the State Department. That all assumes that Southwest found your folder and passport. If an unethical person found it then there is nothing for Southwest to do.

@rfirstbase wrote: My daughter and my granddaughter (age 12) traveling on Southwest flight number 1155 on June 17 from Houston to Pittsburgh leaving Houston at 10:45 to arrive in Pittsburgh at 2:25. Why was my granddaughter separated from her Mother and required to occupy a seat far in the back of the aircraft by herself. In this day and age, I feel this is a totally insane and ridiculous policy and dangerous practice. Can anybody provide me with insight or information on this practice? @rfirstbase here is a 2018 article link from USA Today that I think does a good job of explaining the current situation from a legislative perspective. This is a quote of the most pertinent part of the article as it pertains to your post (bold emphasis added by me): "Congress passed the Families Flying Together Act, which mandates that airlines keep families together on planes. Unfortunately the Department of Transportation has yet to create the required regulation and implement it." I'm not an attorney, I'm not involved in legislation, and I'm not involved in federal rule making so take *my personal opinion* for what it's worth, but I don't think anything will happen any time soon. The approaches mentioned by @Bowfin make sense unless you have a connecting flight that runs late and negates all of your prior planning/status/Early Bird purchase/family boarding. If you miss your boarding spot because your first flight landed late then you're at the mercy of the folks on the plane. Really slim odds of that happening but it happens. Not. Fun. With. Little. Ones. This is a scenario that I think is best addressed by assigned seating, which Southwest obviously does not have.

@MrsH you literally just need a government issued id that would be valid for flying (you need to show it to get through security). Bring the id and I always bring a printed copy of the flight itinerary. Information referenced in a few different places on the Southwest web site, here are two: "The individual who desires a NPE pass will need to present photo identification and detail the Southwest Customer's itinerary." (On the "Non-Passenger Escort" part of the "Customers with Disabilities" page). "...you can obtain an escort pass, which is required to accompany the child through the security checkpoint. Be sure to have the following documents to complete the check-in process: - A copy of the child’s itinerary - Proof of the child’s age (birth certificate, etc.) - Your valid, government-issued ID (required to get an escort pass)". (On the "Unaccompanied Minors page"). I just completed this process this weekend to drop off my 16 year-old daughter for a flight (different airline, last minute change, long story). The only time I haven't been able to enter to meet one of my children at the gate was for a return on an international flight.

I didn't see a reply to this in the thread so apologies if I missed it. It's nothing like the Southwest Companion Pass. I'm sorry to read about the death in your family As another Southwest customer I'd just note that Southwest probably has the most customer friendly policy of domestic airlines in that they allow you to make changes without charging a change fee (you just pay difference in the air fare). You'll be able to book another flight and apply that fare to the new flight so long as you complete the travel within one year of your oringal purchase date. I would not want to see them implement your proposal as it would push up fares for everyone.

One additional item to note is that some locations may have periodic resitrictions/"baggage embargo", especially during the holidays. One is planned to be in place for Montego Bay from August 16, 2019 through September 16, 2019 (see the link provided by @TheMiddleSeat) -- if that is your destination and timing then boxes are not allowed.

There are Southwest employees on the forum but you will usually be referred to customer service for individual travel questions like yours. You can call the 800 number though I agree with @DancingDavidE that the chat function is my go to resource. I've only used it once but there was a chat queue of two people in front of me that moved very quickly versus a long estimated hold time on the phone. When you use the chat function they will automatically have your information and should have the ability to implement solutions for you (they made flight changes for me). To use chat open the Southwest app on your phone > tap the three horizontal lines on the top left corner > then scroll down to the "Contact Us" section > and click on "Chat". The only thing I don't like about using the chat function is that it's a little inconvenient to type lots of detail using the phone -- I hope they one day add chat to the web site too.

You are able to redeem Rapid Rewards points for anyone so you are able to use your points to purchase Southwest tickets for your wife. Earning points is different. When you fly each traveler earns points in their own Rapid Rewards account so both you and your wife should accrue points in your individual accounts. With your personal credit card you earn points in your account. If your wife signs up for a credit card in her name then the points earned will go to her account. You can't have multiple personal credit cards with different people all accruing points to one Rapid Rewards account. If you have a business then you can accrue points from both your personal card and your business card in your personal Rapid Rewards account.

@Skierman just ran across this wording on the Southwest Careers Benefits page (bold emphasis added by me): Travel privileges "Employees have free unlimited travel privileges for themselves and eligible dependents on Southwest Airlines. Eligible dependents include Spouse or Committed/Registered Partner, eligible Dependent Children under 19 years old (or up to 24 if a full-time student), and parents. And, with pass agreements with other airlines and discounts with rental car companies, hotels, theme parks, and more, Employees can choose their own adventure."

@WilDog that is unfortunate! This is the link to "View Baggage Incident Information". You can also try calling the airport bagge office. The following information is contained in the Southwest Airlines Contract of Carriage, the source of the quoted items in italics below: Southwest should reimburse you for your purchases (keep your receipts): "7.i.(1)(i)Carrier will compensate the Passenger for reasonable, documented damages incurred as a direct result of the loss of, damage to, or substantially delayed delivery of such Baggage up to the limit of liability, provided the Passenger has exercised reasonable efforts and good judgment to minimize the amount of damage. Actual value for reimbursement of lost or damaged property shall be determined by the documented original purchase price less depreciation for prior usage." Southwest should pay to deliver your bags: "7.i.(3) Baggage Delivery (i) General. Carrier will pay delayed Checked Baggage delivery charges only so long as such Baggage was tendered to Carrier by the Passenger at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time of the Passenger’s first flight."

The Southwest "Flight Schedules" page is also helpful if you want to see all of the flights available during any given week (the link I embedded is for the week of July 7-13 as an example). When the page loads use your web browser's search function within the page to look for "Nonstop" and you should be all set.

Two thoughts: 1. Terms and conditions of the program state in part, "Companion Pass qualifying points are earned from revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines, points earned on Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Cards, and base points earned from Rapid Rewards Partners." I would just want to confirm what counts as a "base" point for hotel stays, others here may be able to help. Here is the source page: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/faqs.html?topic=rapid_rewards_program_terms_and_conditions&question=rules_and_regulations 2. If you are a business owner then initial card sign up bonus and points earned through your business credit card also count toward CP. It's a no brainer if you are also able to get a business card with the sign up bonus.
