Also, this was posted on Southwest's social media channels today: After November 30, Southwest will unblock the middle seats on our flights. This decision was not made lightly and comes as the growing body of data and research, including from Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the Department of Defense, and the International Air Transport Association, supports that face masks and enhanced cleaning, coupled with HEPA filtration of cabin air, are highly effective measures to protect against the transmission of COVID-19 onboard. We will continue to take a science-based approach as we evaluate our procedures moving forward and will collaborate with the Stanford University School of Medicine for insights that will help us evolve our policies. Southwest continues to expand! The Dallas-based carrier plans new flights to Colorado Springs (COS), Colorado; Jackson, Mississippi (JAN); and Savannah, Georgia (SAV), by June 2021. https://thepointsguy.com/news/expansion-spree-southwest-airlines-adds-three-more-cities-to-its-route-map/ --Jessica

I don't think Southwest actually has a dress code for passengers, do they? Kind of an interesting concept. Why did Southwest delay the flight because of what one woman was wearing, and why was she given a free flight? --Jessica

I have had the invalid connections problem as well - it was impossible to change online so I contacted Southwest via social media channels (Twitter) and they were able to resolve it for me. --Jessica

I hope you'll reconsider! Flying on an airplane, all things considered, even in a COVID-19 world, is still incredibly safe. Articles have been written that the chances of catching COVID-19 while on an airplane is virtually non-existent. With that said, Southwest may update their middle seat policy to extend beyond November 30, but with many flights still well below normal capacity levels, it is very probable that you will have an empty seat - or even empty row - anyway. Thanks, Jessica

If you booked a hotel on Southwest.com you were directed to https://www.southwesthotels.com/ which is in partnership with Booking.com. You should be able to go to SouthwestHotels.com to cancel your hotel reservation - but an even easier way is to find your hotel confirmation e-mail. There are links right in the e-mail that allow you to change or cancel your reservation. --Jessica

We are in the middle of a global pandemic where flights are being dramatically cut due to lack of demand. You can't compare past year's experiences with this years. Every single flight I have booked since March has been changed in some way by the airline due to shifting demand. Every. Single. One. Be thankful your flight still exists - one of my flight routes was cut entirely and I had to jump through hoops to still get to my "original" destination by booking multiple stops. --Jessica

The latest from ABC News about COVID-19 exposure on planes - the risk is very, very minimal. (I’d argue that catching any virus on an airplane is minimal even in normal times without a mask, but well, that is another topic for another day ;)) https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/risk-covid-19-exposure-planes-virtually-nonexistent-masked/story?id=73616599 — Jessica

I never call, I contact Southwest on social media (Twitter Direct Messages for me) whenever I have a booking problem or question about my flights. They normally get back to me within minutes but when I contacted them a few days ago it was closer to 45 minutes. Still, it was great service considering how slammed I am sure they are. --Jessica

I was able to find some 'better' routes where I can make the connections - essentially flights with 2 stops - and the agent was able to switch me to those. The agent initially wanted to put me on flights with 3 stops each way :X Hopefully it will work out - each leg is showing as 'one' flight now, and not 2 flights as it was previously. I hope it won't cause any trouble, because again, flights to Tulsa aren't technically available for the dates I'm flying, so I hope I won't have any checkin problems. --Jessica

This sounds like a simple connection to a flight with a different flight number. So you should only have to check in for he first flight. No, it's not just a simple connection. The reservation shows PHL > STL as "flight 1" and "STL > TUL" as "flight 2." I've never had multiple flights on a single reservation before that weren't just connecting flights, hence my questions. I assume this is a 'multi-city' itinerary gone wrong lol. Here's what the flight out currently looks like: Thanks for answering! --Jessica

@dfwskier -- the irony of that statement is that the flights do not have a "change" option online! Only cancel. I think it's because flights to TUL no longer exist for the dates I want them, so yeah, it's a cluster. I think that they tried booking a multi-city itinerary, but it just isn't logical. I am hoping a SW rep has the power to modify them - this is the first time I haven't gotten a near immediate response from my Direct Messages. --Jessica

Hi all, I have a flight scheduled from PHL to TUL in December. I received an e-mail that my flight to TUL had changed, so I went to look it up. It's...wacky. The original flight has a stop in STL, so PHL > STL > TUL. Now the reservation has 2 separate flights scheduled, one from PHL > STL and the second from STL > TUL. The problem? I arrive in STL after the STL > TUL flight leaves. 😂 Unless someone invents a time machine, it is impossible to make the connection. Unfortunately, this is happening because Southwest is eliminating a lot of PHL > TUL flights and they're still trying to get me there by putting me on two different flights. I'm going to contact them and see what I can do - and get this - the flight coming home (TUL > PHL) is even *worse* and I didn't get an e-mail about that change. They have me going from TUL > PHX and PHX > PHL, two different flights and same scenario, I arrive too late in PHX to make the flight to PHL they scheduled me to be on. What was a TUL > PHX > PHL flight is now a TUL > STL > PHX PHX > DEN > PHL flight. It's total madness. Some questions about having multiple flights on a single reservation: 1) Do you have to 'check in' for the second flight? I assume since it's all under one confirmation #, your initial check in is good for both flights? 2) Similarly, when flight 1 is concluded, do I have to leave the terminal and re-enter the airport to go through security to board flight #2? 3) Does having 2 flights on one reservation count toward the flight # requirement for A-List / Companion Pass status? In other words, would I get credit for both flights even if it's a single reservation? Thanks all! --Jessica

I agree that children as young as 2 years old really shouldn't need to wear a mask. Let the adults handle the mask wearing, if you're so inclined. (I'm also hoping the rules in general will be loosened soon and all of this will be behind us.) Like everything else this year, masks have become politicized. To me, masks provide a level of comfort and a "Look, I'm doing something! I'm helping!" feeling. The jury is out on how effective they really are against COVID-19 in specific. Some people may feel safer wearing them - and some may continue to wear them forever to lessen getting any kind of germs. I am not one of those people. 😋 But back to the children, it were up to me, I'd change the rules so that children 5 and under shouldn't have to wear a mask. --Jessica

You need to keep your profile active and give accurate survey responses.
