@bballflyer There is a way to know, they have a plastic card to put on the seat. YES, you have to look hard for it, buts it the best option other than size shaming someone.

@floridaguy I'm just going to the next rows and avoid all this altogether, but with a remark as such, Enjoy your flight. Way too much other crap in the world for this to be an issue.

I have gotten double bonus points by booking 2 rooms. I just did it a day later and used an abbreviated part of my name. Not to give my name, say a Phillip for the first room and then Phil for the other. But that was years ago. But the using the wife is a good alternative.

@Nan3roc I DONT AGREE WITH YOU. I find it hard to believe that if you paid for the 1-15 boarding that you are ever past the exit door seats. If your dissatisfied with the process just say so, you don't have to embellish the issue. I've not paid for 1-15 in 10 years and never have had to sit passed the exit row seats, and that even when I ad A 59. I like the current process.

@flyingwasfun Well, since you're not flying SWA anymore, maybe you might consider joining the other airlines forum. Some of us like the current process. And as mentioned, through survey, more folks like it than not.

Seems unlikely that will happen since they are cutting 4 destinations in August. In 10 years, I've mentioned multiple places that they should go, SWA hasn't listened to me yet. I et it after a first quarter loss but wished they would have waited to see if things got right. I fly to 2 of the 4 they are stopping flying to.

I've be advocating for back of the plane boarding for years now, once upon a time I loved the back. I'm now more of a first 20 row person basically due to the lateness of so many flights and having to get to another gate. But I'd have no issue on this one.

So, I've been informed it's open seating that helps keep the prices down. But who knows, this issue just isn't one that bothers me. As an ALister, I'm sure this happens to me every flight, somebody from pre-board bags a row or two in front of me....so what.

Let me start by saying that it isn't that I don't believe you, but all this is odd. Here is why I say that.
When I book a flight on points I'm notified right away, almost within a minute. So why weren't you notified if this happened. (you didn't mention you were)
Hacking is getting sophisticated every day, but this is the very first I have ever heard of someone who has had their points hacked and stolen.
Being on hold waiting on a SWA agent for only 45 minutes isn't bad compared to the many complaints of hours being on hold.
I hope that you get your issue resolved and any points taken returned or some type of compensation.

If everybody boarded can plane leave gate early
Here is my short-term solution. I doubt it will please everybody, but here goes.
1) Those who are visibly in a wheelchair (and I know this can be misused as well) should board first.
2) Those A-15 Business Select that actually put out the huge sum of money to get that position board next.
3) Any other Pre-boarders go third.
4) Then the A-16 on up in order.
That's just my thoughts. And that puts me at # 4 since unless the only price left, I never buy business select.

@PDFelter @floridaguy @bec102896 Good to hear the updates. NOW, I'm just hoping that the FA on plane go back to this practice. I've not seen it happen in about 5 years or so. Every so often a FA would survey the luggage bins and see those who put jackets, hats, and backpacks and items that would fit under the seat in the overhead bins. NOW, would you ask have I ever done that. Yes, but I always wait until the plane is boarded and if there is an open space nearby (4 bins close) then I will put it up there, otherwise I have it crammed under the seat as told.

10/8/23 This happened to me as well. My flight from FLL to Dallas left late. My connecting flight had already left, so they booked me on another flight to ABQ 3 hours later. Just as you, I got a C-24 boarding and went to wait in line for the A-1-60 to board. The FA then called for extra time people but I walked up any way and she said I had to wait. OK, there was only 1. So then she called family, and I walked up again only to find out I had to go back in line and let family on first. So finally after the family got on she announced A-List and A-List preferred and I got on. I'm trying to stay ok with this, but deep down I'm not. Now I am torn on being displeased as it was my wife who the Desk FA gave her an extra time boarding due to the issue SWA was in the wrong making me miss my connection. So it is true, it is now the policy, and for the time being have to live with it. I will be sending my thoughts to SWA on this one as I have to in trying to get compensation for the missed flight and 3 hour wait. Hopefully, if they hear from enough of us our concern they may reconsider. It appears they are accommodating a group of people who may only fly one time with them ever, over a group already showing commitment to the company. Just got a 2024 companion pass, so I'm still flying with SWA another year.

So the reason i ask is because 1 of many things, I have rod in my back & extremely bad arthritis now & Sitting for any long period of time is extremely painful so i need to get up frequently to move around. so i don't need a wheel chair but i'm 6'3 and need a fair amount of room since i'm constantly up & down. Again I'm just curious
I want to chime in with my friends in this forum, THANK YOU, for your service. I don't read posts looking for issues to question someone's post, but I do want to make just a few comments here from you post.
"So the reason i ask is because 1 of many things, I have rod in my back & extremely bad arthritis now & Sitting for any long period of time is extremely painful so i need to get up frequently to move around." Unless I'm wrong, it wouldn't matter which flight you're on or seat your in, you're not able to get up and move around unless the captain has announced that this is possible to do so, (taking off the seatbelt light)
I would agree you might have a solid chance to talk with the ticket agent and get a pre-board ticket, just ask.

@Jack2act I know this isn't the solution to what you are seeking, but, here goes anyway. As a senior myself (67) I am for the most part able bodied and have never even had a thought of trying to get any early access to boarding. But just as a individual I take no issue with any senior getting any extra benefit, in good faith or not, for any service. The more elderly they are, the more I accept that.

I appreciate your insight on this and want to say, THANK YOU, very much.

I'm only responding to this because this actually happened to me on a flight and a good story. Yes, you can take it on with you. Now my story. Let me preface, I'm an older gentleman, therefore, I don't keep up with the latest trends. At a time when bigger was better, I had always intended to get a new laptop. By the time I decided to pull the trigger, that bigger is better time had passed but found a great deal on a new one and my old one died. (forced to get one) Well when the flight attendant started talking about using electronic devices, he made a shout out to those of us who still (lol, my was only a month old) had those dinosaur 4-pound large laptops', Yada yada yada. I actually felt embarrassed and didn't pull it out like I had previously done. I still have and use that laptop but never bring it out anymore due to this one flight attendant. Yes, I guess I have issues, but they are self-implanted in my head on my own...but I still give SWA the love, only on a frustrated cell phone that makes me squint to see due to my limited vision.

SWA use to be economical based on the business model of no frills no charge. Although I been able to compare other airline prices with SWA I don't think they can bank on that anymore. With that said, I'm with you and wish they had at least a pay option for a snack or sandwich. But on the side of SWA, that would only be on fights say, over 2 hours or more. I've been caught with my pants down way too many times thinking I got time to grab a snack between layovers, but with SWA it's lately been too much of a gamble. I would say I've only been on 2 flights out of 25 that I landed on time from the first flight only to be rushed to the next gate to board. But still love them and will continue to fly....yes, I've giving the love.

I've been a teacher for over 30 years and have taught some lesson with rote memorization and on auto pilot. However, every now and then I say something that a student catches or I catch myself saying that isn't what I meant to say, it happens. I guess I'm a rogue teacher who is incompetent at doing my job.
