I believe that the A-list surrounds the individual who's account acquires the tickets.
You will be able to board after two dozen or so pre-boarding passengers.

You are going to have to go back and review the terms of use and/or contract with Southwest. They likely cover all of this including no accommodation for cancelled flight.
Back in the good ole days, airlines put you up for the night, etc. but with competition and a consumer DEMAND for lower fares, something had to go.
Would you have been willing to pay an extra $40 for your ticket to have a guaranteed accommodation?

All of the fuss over early check in doesn't mean much when two dozen pre board passengers go on ahead of everyone else, even if they paid $2 Million per ticket.

I just had an incident at MCO when walking to the gate, some guy ran into me with a group of empty wheelchairs and complained that I didn't get out of his way and was on my phone.
Not only did he run into me, when I objected he snapped back at me, then ended up at the same gate that I went to, only there he was to pick up passengers from the plane that landed.
I filed my complaint with the airport and they routed it to the company that works for Southwest. I'm supposed to get a phone call tomorrow about the incident. I was not injured but there is no excuse to just run into an airport guest to make your point.
I would file your complaint with the airport and get the report on record.

In my experience, this is not true.
I had a LUV Voucher that expired in July and with a simple phone call it was extended through December 31, 2022.
There was no letter written, no pre-trial hearing with Perry Mason, no picketing and no administrative hearing.

A better response would be:
That's good to know. We should all keep an eye on our Rapid Rewards account for unwarranted activity.
In addition to warning others on this board, contact Southwest directly on their website and make an official inquiry.

Your posts have a tone that suggests that you represent Southwest Airlines. While I have no issue with the individual contacting Southwest reminding them that this is a customer to customer forum is a bit much.
Southwest does monitor this board and simply encouraging them to contact Southwest is sufficient. I appreciate the fact that this individual alerted us to the potential to have that account hacked.

middleseat - I would ask that you tone down your comments.
I was on a flight with my fiancé going to Las Vegas and a passenger refused to follow crew instructions.
The plane turned around after reaching the runway and returned to the gate. I was thinking that the plan was going to another runway.
The pilot then came back and explained why the plane returned to the gate. He said that if you don't follow crew instructions, you don't fly. He was applauded.
According to my research, this passenger was greeted by TSA then turned over to Federal authorities who imposed a fine of $42.500 and Southwest billed for time and fuel due to the delay. I was an eyewitness to the events.
So, it is also within the jurisdiction of the pilot to land the plane and remove the passenger.

The choice was also to land the plane at the nearest airport and turn the passenger over to TSA. I believe that is what the OP had in mind.
Based upon the story, I agree. The captain should have landed the plan and had the person arrested by TSA.

We live in a free society and as long as you do not violate the board rules, you can post things as you see them.
I hear people arguing all the time that they are number A12 and someone with A15 is ahead of them in line. They squabble like children only to have 20 people preboard.
I say let the preboard people on the plane, then everyone else comes in based upon when they purchased their ticket, or when they checked in, but no premiums for boarding early.

I do not see any value in purchasing the early bird or business select. Your choice of seats is directly proportionate to the number of preboard passengers that go before ANYONE even if you bought all of the outstanding stock for Southwest.
On Southwest, you have the perfect storm because the preboard people MUST go first, then everyone else. Since Southwest has open seating, there you go!
Southwest can unload a plane and have new passengers boarded and ready to go in less than an hour which translates into more flights and more margin. Other airlines spend precious time fiddling around with passengers who cannot read and find their seat or trying to convince Betty or Bob that they are in the wrong seat. Not Southwest.

My suggestion is to hire Perry Mason and he will put Paul Drake, Drake Detective Agency, on the case.
You will spend about $15,000 but you will certainly get your LUV Voucher.

My voucher expired in July of 2022 and with a phone call, I was able to get it extended through the end of the year. I used it in September of this year and all is well.
Southwest met its obligation and the voucher had an expiration date, per terms of use. If you want to sue, go blue and get a tattoo, that's up to you.
The court will laugh at you and I would expect Southwest to counter-sue you for a frivolous lawsuit and collect all of their costs of defending such a suit.
I suggest you do something as innovative as CALLING AND ASKING FOR AN EXTENSION of the LUV Voucher.

I preboard on every flight. It is my right.
I do not need the wheelchair but do meet the criteria. I often have one companion but never five. I agree that it should be better managed.
Ultimately, Southwest created this perfect storm. When you have unassigned seats and also must comply with the Air Carrier Act, those that preboard get the best selection of seats. That is not to be blamed on people who preboard, that is Southwest's own brew.
This subject has been complained about for YEARS and has not changed.

I doubt this to be true. It may have been removed because it would interfere with equipment or was already damaged.

The first point of contact is appropriate for asking about preboarding. The baggage check is a place to do that because they can issue boarding passes too.
The problem became apparent when he wanted to sell the upgrade.

I understand. But self identifying and being specific regarding seat assignment would satisfy any read of the Federal regulation. Instead, I was encouraged to buy an upgrade.
How many people would surrender their rights at the baggage check desk and pay for what they entitled to receive? Southwest needs to get their people in order. I've filed a complaint and will give feedback here on how the proceed.
I will guess that this incident will result in "employee education" so that they don't open a can of worms legally.
I'm disappointed.

Tonight in Orlando, I checked one bag and indicated the need to preboard due to a medical condition. I do not need assistance boarding.
The baggage check agent gave me a hard time about it and tried to sell me the upgrade check-in and then offered to give me "extra time". I said NO. I know my rights. I told him that he was in violation of the Air Carrier Access Act for debating my condition and reason for preboarding.
What is Southwest doing? Are you training your people to make passengers buy the preboarding? Your gate agent tonight in MCO is disgusting and doesn't know the law.
In the revised final rule published on May 13, 2008, the Department expanded the preboarding requirement to cover not only people who need a specific seat assignment or who need to stow their personal folding wheelchairs, but also to cover passengers that “need additional time or assistance to board, stow accessibility equipment, or be seated.” For a passenger to be entitled to preboarding, that passenger must self-identify at the gate as being a person with a disability that needs to preboard for one of the above-listed reasons. In the section-by-section analysis of the preamble to the final rule, the Department noted that the obligation to preboard passengers with disabilities “exists regardless of the carriers’ preboarding policies for other persons (e.g., families with small children).”
