This is another example of someone not doing their job. If you are a mortgage broker, you should know better.
Just like in our neighborhood which is managed through an HOA. We do not allow "for sale" or "for rent" signs, PERIOD!
I submitted a proposal that when we see these, we remove them and bill the homeowner a $1,000 removal fee and let them get reimbursed by the realtor who should have known better.

I am totally against dragging items on the plane that could be checked. All we are doing is adding to the cost of air travel because it takes longer and longer to board the plane and get underway.
The fight for overhead bin space has hit epic levels. If you carry a laptop or small carry on then that's fine. Luggage and oversized items are ruining everyone's air travel experience.
I've been watching Southwest gate agents call out the oversized and over count items recently. I am glad and yes, it is about time!
It is always something. Yesterday it was a mountain bike, today it is a Santa suit, tomorrow a riding lawn mower and the day after, your daddy's toolbox.

Back in the day, what you are describing was handled by a travel agency. This was due to a lack of Internet and calling the airlines or using published schedules. All of those were time consuming.
Today, planning the trip can be done inside of 30 minutes for air, hotel and vehicle.
An organization large enough to need this probably does this inhouse.

It was great insight. Not sure what your concern is, however, we both supported the OP.

I am planning to visit the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in February of next year. I've flown to Phoenix AZ before on Southwest but not farther west.
I'm looking for advice on which airport would be the best to fly into. Southwest offers several options near Yorba Linda and I'd appreciate any feedback. I do not see any nonstop flights from MCO.

If you gotta go, you gotta go. FAA officials and employees can wet their own pants if they want to but I understand and agree with your concerns.
Southwest should compensate you for the situation. Maybe next time their people will behave in a more professional manner.

Yes, happened to me too. The flight that I was planning in January no longer exists so I was switched to an earlier flight. I can make the change two times (without an additional cost). That's what is meant by "two times".
You can actually change it over and over and over again right up to 10 minutes before the flight. However, as has always been the case, you get the difference in price when you make the change, positive or negative.

We just went through this on another airline when visiting Anguilla. No matter what the limit, someone always wants to push the envelope. This particular character got an oversized bag on board and shoved it into the overhead bin to the point that the fiberglass framing was bowed.
The door wouldn't close. They advised him to reduce the size of the bag or have it checked.
The best solution would have been to toss the bag off the plane and advise the passenger to pick it up off the tarmac on his next trip.
I have proposed that all baggage be screened by TSA for size and rejected at the TSA screening and send the person back to have it checked, then re-enter TSA screening. With rules like that no one will push the envelope.

Your accounting of preboards is not reliable data. Only Southwest can give an accounting, by gate, by day of week, by hour of day, etc. for that kind of reporting.
Instead of logging information on less than 1/10ths of one percent of the flights in any given day, simply ask Southwest for the data.
Your method, while of interest to you, is like me looking out my office window and giving weather reports for the entire state of Florida.
Preboard!

Why bother to document this data? Whether there are zero or 150, nothing will change until Federal law does. I would be in favor of a medical certificate to preboard, like you have for parking in a handicap parking place.
The truth is that any doctor will sign off on a document allowing you a permit. I would imagine that a cottage industry would grow for preboarding passes by doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. $49 for an "evaluation" and you walk out with a preboarding pass.
My advice to this non-stop subject is to create its own category or simply keep the rants going until time itself comes to an end.

It is a trick question. You say that you need to preboard and the gate agent responds asking if you need extra time. If you say yes, then you are between A and B boarding groups.
Remember - you have the right to preboard if you self-declare with a disability. Simply refuse to respond to the question about extra time and repeat over and over that you need to preboard.

Ask for it at the gate or when you check in your luggage. Indicate that you need to preboard and DO NOT respond to the question about needing extra time. Simply indicate that you need to preboard.

It is like the old Groucho Marx show - all you have to do is say the magic word and POOF, you preboard. That's the law.
Nothing can be done. I would agree that Early Bird and Business Select are an utter waste of money. Proceed as you see fit.

This is another case of ever-changing problems.
If I were on that flight, I would complain. The size limits are not intended to be the starting point and then double in size. Consider other passengers.
I'd insist on either the pillow go, you go, or I would ask for a flight on another airline.

My reply was to the OP. I cannot imagine that Southwest would purposely interfere with the recycling of a plane's shell just to sell mementos. Now, if those sold for say $1,500 each, it might be worth it.
Again, I would seek to document this before doing anything else. I do not have an opinion of the seat fabric.

Sounds like another board where someone said that Bill Mitchell changed the battery caps from yellow to black as the yellow detracted from the beauty of the Chevrolet orange engine.
Bill Mitchell could not have "ordered" Delco battery group to make that change. All of this stuff is great theatre, but mostly nonsense.
