Fellow 2018 FA applicants.... i truly wish everyone the best in this endeavor! I have enjoyed the love, assisting (when possible) with questions and answers, and offering encouragement to those that were anxiously waiting and character building. Unfortunately, my time has come to an end as i received my rejection letter today. But i take with me my warrior spirit, lessons learned, and community friendships made. i wish all remaining applicants the very best and know the chosen ones will be amazing.

@TammyW - don’t feel discouraged... they are going through applications in order of received (at least that’s how i understand it). It took me maybe around two hours from the position being opened and i got my email/call around 2 weeks ago. Another applicant (if i recall) took about 2 hours as well and she just had a status change today... so be encouraged... your time is coming! Keep the warrior spirit!

Although i am partial to long hair (as i have grown mine out several times over the years) i would have to agree with WhoDaresWins and you should cut your hair. Here is a snippet from a crew member description: a neat appearance is maintained and the physical ability to perform all job functions is not hindered. Flight Attendants are therefore required to maintain acceptable physical standards. If hired, and following the probationary period, failure to maintain a neat appearance and acceptable physical standards will be handled with progressive discipline If you truly want to work for Southwest, why take the chance and get rejected because of your hair? If you get the job and find long hair is not a problem, grow it back out. I speak from experience and cutting it off is really not as bad as you think... I’ve probably done it more than 10 times. But don’t give up the opportunity to work for an amazing company because you are proud of your hair.

Hi @karenburkhart! Your time is going to come! The recruiters (as i understand it) are going in order of received. My brother is currently a FA with SWA and he said it could be several months before you see a status change. Don’t be discouraged! I know it is a long process and waiting is not fun! A few of us have referred to this time as “character building”... For now, keep building your character and maintain the warrior spirit!

Fellow applicants... i have seen all kinds of posts over the last several weeks about people not hearing, people getting calls, people having troubles with finding the Flight Attendant portal, people questioning (and i am including myself in these)... I did learn that recruiters are calling/emailing applicants in order of the applications received. It took me maybe a little more than 2 hours (if i remember correctly) with the overwhelming influx of people applying. I am glad to say the recruiters have made it at least that far because today i received an email and a call (to set up a phone interview). So, be encouraged all who were around the 2 hour mark during the application process as it seems your time is coming soon! Best wishes to all applicants. Thanks so much @kelchrisjohnson! I had posted a reply the other day but it seems to have malfunctioned as i do not see it now. It took me probably the same amount of time to complete the online application roughly 2+ hours. Mine also moved to “under review” on February 6 but i have yet to receive a call. My brother is currently a SWA Flight Attendant for 13+ years... so i am hoping it helps. Did you notice if the call came from Dallas? I have gotten a handful of calls lately from places like Utah and Florida but sadly they were telemarketers... i dread answering the phone but don’t want to miss an opportunity. Anyway, best wishes to you and I’ll hold to the hope that we both make it and can meet one day!

Hi Joannah, Unfortunately the Flight Attendant posting is currently closed. It’s best to keep up with the community portal and there should be advanced notice for when it comes around again. Or check the Southwest Careers website and set your parameters for a notification for when it is available... but please note it could easily be a year or so from now. Best wishes to you! Keith

Hi @Amici! I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering if you heard back.... we corresponded some on the day the position opened for applying. When checking my status, it shows “under review” (and has been since 2/6)... but nothing more than that. It is my understanding the initial attempt will be done via phone call as opposed to an email. Some people in the community have received calls and phone interviews but many still have not. Best wishes to you! Hopefully we all hear something soon!

Hi @ruthmartin9336... i have seen this question a few times recurring on the discussion board. You are correct, the Flight Attendant job posting is currently closed. I think they only open it every now and again. You can use this link: https://flightattendants-southwest.icims.com/jobs/search?ss=1 and set the parameters for the job. Hi @ShekinahS, in other posts i have noticed a common thread about not seeing an application on the website. There is a separate Flight Attendant portal that is usually the solution. It can be found here: https://flightattendants-southwest.icims.com/jobs/intro?hashed=-435768595&mobile=true&width=320&height=454&bga=true&needsRedirect=false&jan1offset=-300&jun1offset=-240 you will need to log in and then (if i have it right) you should be able to see your submission. hope that helps! Hi huntershan.... you are in the waiting place along with many (many, many) others. As I understand it, some people have received calls... while many others are still waiting. I have heard it can take several months so as long as you have not received a rejection, I would take that as a good sign. Best wishes to you on this venture!
