It seems the FAA requires in cabin animals to be caged. So the rule would need to be changed.
Although I can't find words like "animals must be caged" on the FAA website, I can find plenty about per containers (1) being carry on baggage (2) must be small enough to fit under seat ,, etc. the clear implication being that animals must be caged.

Did you check the flight to see if you could book it?
If you have the SW app on your phone, the app includes a chat function that works pretty well.
Twitter in DM mode also works well for dialogues.

The first thing I would do is pretend I'm booking a seat on your flight, and see what happens. If it says unavailable, then it is likely overbooked.
The next thing I would do is use the chat cell function to actually have a dialog with someone.
Hope it works out for you.

In your first post you said " I did not use her RR number to book the hotel because I had no idea she had a Rapid Rewards number."
but ..
I believe SW requires a companion to have a RR number.
So at one point you had it in order to set her up as your companion.
And somehow it got into the booking.com booking.
I believe what PDFelter said upthread is the most likely explanation.

Have your daughter verify that the points actually went into her account.
Either that is not true, or somehow your daughter's RR# ended up on the hotel reservation.

Actually, whoever has access to the account can "use" the points
The relationship between parents does not allow to share one account unfortunately.
So the way it is setup now, the child is only able to collects points on return flights. Unless we just want to allow the one parent to get all the rewards and use them to save on flights they book (seems unfair).
Actually, if the child's RR number is on the outbound flight reservation, then the child is earning RR points on the flight. If the RR number is not on the reservation, then the RR points can be claimed retroactively using the confirmation number and the RR number.

Every airline would have done the same thing to you. When you no show a flight, then everything else on the itinerary also cancels. The fact that you visited a ticket counter is immaterial. You should have cancelled the outbound flight - thus preserving the return flight and giving you a travel credit for the portion you cancelled..
Why were you even at the ticket counter? Unless checking bags, there was no need. And even if you had bags, you could have taken them to the gate to be gate checked.
I guess if it had been me, I would have sprinted to the gate to try to get the original flight. It's not that Richmond is a huge airport. with long walks. If I missed it, then I would have been put on the later flight - which I could have then cancelled.

so you can carry a power bank until seat back power gets in. You have to decide what two free bags, no fee to cancel or change and CP are worth to you.
Then there is the ability to no cost change your flight on day of travel (assuming you are A-List) and then you can board your new flight at A-61 and likely snag an aisle or window in the front half of the plane. Make that change on the legacies and you will get a middle set somewhere.

@7summits wrote: Well, I understand your pain, and only you can determine whether or not the pain is enough to get you to stop flying SW. In my life, I have gotten to that point with 2 carriers. Me, I've been A-List since the program started and have been a 30 year RR member.
I am at a loss. This airline is gone downhill so much in the last few years and is so incredibly behind from a customer experience and technology perspective when compared to Delta for example.
And yet JD Power last month rated SW the best of the economy cafriers in customer satisfaction.
I am currently in flight right now and I likely my last with Southwest. I have been companion pass the last 4 years with minimal credit card spend.
I am genuinely looking for feedback from other customers here to see if I am just extremely unlucky 30-40 times a year. Here are my concerns:
1). Still no power in the seats. I swear I read late last year there would be power on their new planes and they would be retrofitting exiting 787-Max’s. In the last month, I have been on 3 max aircraft and no power. I was on one brand new plane…we were the first passengers to fly on it. Again no power. No power on the 4 Hawaii flights I have flown over the past year. How is there not power outlets on southwest aircraft still?
Boeing has had trouble delivering new planes to SW. Fewer new planes means fewer new planes with seat back power. I think Boeing delivered the first such plane last month. I do not know the schedule for retrofitting planes
2). 50/50 chance the Wi-Fi works. My flight to on Monday…no Wi-Fi. Flight right now yes Wi-Fi. Flights a few weeks ago…no Wi-Fi on either flight. And when there is Wi-Fi, we are dealing with dial up internet speed at best. Again, read some article late last year that Southwest was going to arrive in the 21st century and provide high speed internet on flights.
New planes are getting a new WiFi provider, and the new setup is supposed to be much more robust than the old setup. As mentioned above, SW is having big troubles actually getting new planes from Boeing. Existing aircraft are being upgraded but the upgraded setup will never be as robust as the new one.
3). The pre boarding process is absurd and out of hand. I generally fly business select and expect to be in the first few rows. The amount of times that i see people who clearly don’t need to pre board is becoming all too common. It is disrespectful to the people who actually need to pre board. It is a common joke among the business select about how many pre boarders there will be today who limp to the ticket agent and then run down the jet bridge. The only way to solve this problem is to assign seats or require anyone who is not in a wheelchair or clearly has a disability to sit beyond row 5.
The pre boarding process is mandated by federal law. SW really can't control it because , by law, anyone who claims a need to pre board, must be allowed to preboard. Alo the airline cannot treat pre board passengers differently than all other passengers. So it cannot mandate where they choose to sit because it does not mandate where other passengers may sit.
4). Delays. Every single flight is delayed. The turn around time for fights is absolutely unattainable. My flight today had a scheduled departure time of 4:15pm. The inbound flight had a scheduled arrival time at 3:30pm. How do they expect to deplane and board a full Max plane in 45 minutes. We ended up departing at 4:43pm. Who sets these schedules?
Recently Sw is seeing more delays than the competition. For 2022 SW had about 72% of flights arrive on time, while the legacy carriers came in at 78% to 79%
This is my first time posting here. Never knew this forum existed until I tried to leave feedback for SW in the Ap.
Curious to hear feedback from other frequent travelers.

Maybe next time, you learn your lesson and head for the stairs ...
Boarding thru 2 doors allows faster loading of the plane - more efficient -- and potentially helps get more flights/day out of planes. than if only boarding via the front door.

You can use flightaware.com. It'll tell you the flight path for a given flight number for a given day.
Here's SW 1229. For tomorrow it starts out in Orlando, flies to Chicago O"Hare, and continues on to Dallas. If the flight number has multiple stops, then there is always the possibility there may be continuing passengers on board. In this case it is unlikely there will be many passengers that fly to Chicago only to continue on to Dallas - but there could be some. I am unaware of a way to determine if there will actually be any continuing passengers on any flight.
If the flight number starts at your city, then there cannot be any continuing passengers.

Southwest is severely short pilots. It is also short of planes - with Boeing several hundred planes in arears over the last few years,
Neither shortage is expected to be resolved over the next few years - thus I would expect almost no expansion while those shortages exist.

TSA DOES NOT hand search the vast majority of carry on bags. Those that are searched normally contain liquids, firearms, suspicious electronics and things that look like knives or bombs making materials
If the only thing in the bag is your blanket, then there is a 99.9% chance that no one will hand search your bag.

True.
When someone cancels a reservation after a boarding position has been assigned, then that boarding position becomes available to the next person that checks in.
So it is entirely possible for a person to check in an hour before flight time to get A16 if the person holding A16 cancelled the reservation shortly before the other person checked in.
You may get lucky, but don;t count on it.

Some jobs require you to live in a certain state
Some jobs require you to agree to training in a certain city
Some jobs require you to agree that you will be trained for a certain amount of time.

Hawaii (5 hours behind) & my boarding is at 9am Hawai’i time. Does this mean I would check in at 9am the day before or 4am the day before to match Texas time that I’m traveling to? SOS!!
This gets confusing, so let's try this again.
You would check in as early as 24 hours before departure time of the city you are departing from - regardless of what time it is in whatever place you do the check in.
So, in your case, yes 4 am in Texas - if that is where you do the check in.
