Here is TSA's list of foods you can bring as a carry on or checked: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/food Tamales are sort of an in-between category to me because I wouldn't consider them "solid" food exactly - typically, most "solid" foods you can bring on board as a carryon item, but creams, dips, salsas, etc. are more questionable and they recommend having less than 3.4 oz of on board as a carryon, and it would be better to check it. You could also ask TSA on social media, if you aren't sure. --Jessica

@JWB wrote: I understand that only some hotels offer these, and only some of the time. My point is that there are currently zero hotels showing bonus points. I have checked numerous dates and locations. Also, the web site used to display right on the initial search results the amount of routine points to be earned. Now that is gone also and the only way to see that is to go partway through the reservation steps. It looks like Southwest may have a glitch going on with the Booking.com website. What destinations are you looking up? Again, it's entirely subjective and what's available or not changes all the time. I just looked up downtown Tulsa for a few weekends and I see a few bonus point offers. They are not all at the top of the page, you have to scroll to see some of them. --Jessica

You don't get points until your hotel stay is completed and it normally takes a couple of weeks for them to post to your account. With that said, I book hotels through Southwest all the time and I always get a confirmation e-mail. You should be able to look up your reservation on the site, and there's an option to resend your confirmation e-mail: https://secure.southwesthotels.com/content/cs.html?aid=961823&ref=SWHTL --Jessica

Without knowing what condition your child has, it is too much to ask to wear a mask on a plane for a couple of hours at most? Granted - the mask mandate is set to expire in September, so if you are flying later than that, this may no longer be an issue. I haven't heard if the mandate is being extended. --Jessica

That's nice that you are getting a $200 voucher for the hassle you encountered! The only time this ever happened to me was when a flight was delayed several hours later than normal (it did eventually take off) and they printed off $100 vouchers right at the gate to anyone who came up to claim one. I was happy lol Since yours is coming by e-mail, I'm not sure how long it will take for it to be sent out. You could always message Southwest and ask about it - be sure to give the details of your flight. --Jessica

@jcdalglish wrote: What possible reason could Southwest Airlines have for NOT requiring their employees to be vaccinated? Do they have a death wish? lol ... what a comment. If you're vaccinated and wearing a mask, what are you afraid of? I don't need Southwest to mandate vaccines in order to fly with them. I've been flying for Southwest for well over a decade - heck, I flew at the "height" of the pandemic in August, October, and December 2020, when the very idea of a vaccine wasn't taken very seriously. (Remember, many thought it would take "years" to develop one.) By the way, I've never gotten COVID to this day, and I've flown many other times - just flew last weekend, in fact. Is this really something that people care a lot about? Are people that afraid to be around someone who hasn't gotten a shot? I'm not. Never have been. Someone's medical history and how they chose to take care of themselves (or not take care of themselves) is none of my business. I can only take care of me, myself and I. It's pretty remarkable how much our thinking has changed in less than 2 years. --Jessica

You cannot accept or condone a charge you made yourself? This is not Southwest's problem. As others have clearly stated, this is a charge you agreed to at the kiosk. I know if it were me, if I saw that I was paying nearly $500 for an upgrade to Business Select, I would have backed out and not paid it. You paid it. This is not the standard "pay X and get an A1-A15 boarding position" which is something you can do at the gate. You literally paid more to upgrade to a different fare, from Wanna Get Away to Business Select. I'm sorry you did not realize that until after you purchased the upgraded fare. You don't have a case. --Jessica

I don't think I've ever gotten an alert telling me to check in - when would they send this? Not everyone checks in right at 24 hours (although many do). I do get an alert *after* I've checked in telling me my boarding position. I also get an alert when the plane is boarding, but that's about it. --Jessica

I've kind of wondered about this too since I've had to deal with it a few times - if you rebook your flight and get travel credit, say you do this three times, when you go to use the 3 credits does it count as "3" forms of payment despite it all being under the same reservation? You'd think it would all roll up into 1 since it's the same reservation number, but it doesn't appear to do that. --Jessica

Southwest has been making changes to their schedules every couple of months as far back as 2019 when the MAX 8 disruption forced schedule changes to happen, and with the ongoing pandemic, schedule changes isn't something that Southwest can just "pause" at will. Thanks, Jessica

Typically in my experience if a flight is cancelled and you have to go to the gate agent to get a new flight assignment you aren't charged anything, so there would be no need for a gate agent to use your travel credit. I had a recent experience where I went to a gate agent to try to get on a different flight because my original connecting fight had like a 7 hour layover, and they got me on an earlier flight without any issues. --Jessica

This exact same thing - literally the exact same thing - happened to me when Southwest made their schedule changes for early November. I had a flight from LAS - MDW - PHL, got an email about a change, I was fine with it but the reservation only showed the MDW - PHL portion. I contacted them via Direct Message on Twitter and they fixed it with 90 minutes - and moved me to a better flight at my suggestion. If they didn’t respond to your DM, make sure it has all the relevant details (confirmation #, what flight is missing & mention the flight #s) and also send them a tweet asking to check their DMs for the relevant information about what happened & what needs correcting. —Jessica

Oh man, story of my life right here! PHL is my home base. We've had a lot of nonstops eliminated on various routes, it's true. I was afraid for awhile that Southwest might leave Philadelphia altogether like they did in Newark, NJ. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet! But, I think as a whole longer nonstop flights are being broken up across the country. I assume shorter flights = more flights per day = more revenue for the airline. --Jessica

Southwest has made numerous changes to the fall schedule and it's likely you were impacted. You should have received an e-mail about a change to your flight. You can certainly e-mail Southwest, or contact them on social media to explain your issue with your flight. I had to do this when I was notified about a change and 1/2 my intinerary was dropped. They fixed it in about 90 minutes after I DMed them on Twitter with the relevant information. https://www.southwest.com/contact-us/contact-us.html?clk=GFOOTER-CUSTOMER-CONTACT-US --Jessica

"Thanks for destroying my deadlines" 😂 Come on. No one believes that your deadlines occurred while you were in mid-air and you didn't talk to your boss / supervisor / etc. about this beforehand - or better yet - you could have gotten your work done before you left the ground! That aside, Southwest WiFi is generally spotty and slow, but assuming you paid for it and were properly connected (you have to open a browser first to properly connect, like you do on most public WiFi hot spots) your e-mail and whatnot should be working. But I'd be careful what you send over a pubic network. --Jessica

Actually, mask mandates on public transit like airplanes are set to expire on September 13. I haven't heard if there will be any extensions, but considering where we are with vaccinations (a good place overall) and the ongoing controversies / displeasure of masks in general, I would hope that we won't have to wear them much longer unless it is your personal choice. --Jessica

This entirely depends and changes day to day. Some days a few hotels will offer bonus points, but some days it won't. I'm sure it also depends on location, length of stay, etc. Many times I've booked a hotel at the regular 1:1 rate because there were no bonuses available - but that's still better than nothing. --Jessica
