We've discussed preboarding so many times I'm surprised that there isn't a category of its own.
Under Federal law, The Air Carrier Access Act, if you self-identify as a person with a disability you preboard. That's the law. In fact, you can do acrobatics all the way to the gate, self-identify as an individual with a disability, preboard, then withdraw your claim. Since the claim does not renew for each subsequent flight, it must expire somewhere but the law is unclear.
Anyone who challenges your "disability" is leaving themselves open for legal action. That includes other passengers who harass or otherwise attempt to shame those who self-identify with a disability.
I would be in favor of an ID card or placard similar to parking in handicap zones if the law eventually goes there. However, that is not likely to happen anytime soon.
This is a unique situation with Southwest. Other airlines have assigned seating and you can preboard to your assigned seat. On Southwest, you preboard AND get the best choice of seats. That's a perfect storm. However, it is not the fault of those that preboard.

If the seat is open, sit in the seat. If someone fusses, call the flight attendant.
There is no provision on Southwest to save or hold seats. I have made many calls to Southwest asking the same question and each and every time I am told the same thing.
The last person who told me a seat was being saved, I told them that was a great subject for a book, but not reality on Southwest.
Yes, I sat in the seat. Had their been fuss, I would have called for the flight attendant.

There are pros and cons to each airline. There are people who will never fly one airline, but are loyal to another.
Although I do not agree with all of Southwest's policies, I do voice my concerns on this board (which is my right) and also to Southwest's Shareholder Relations team.
I would urge caution about Frontier's program and be sure that you understand the limitations and restrictions before burning a bridge.

You would have received an email from Southwest which would have given you the information, but feel free to call Southwest as to the origin of the flight. I keep track of mine on a spreadsheet with the source document related to the LUV voucher itself.

Yes, a nice job indeed!
I guess I have to ask, if you are going to be on a flight and don't want to be touched, why are you on the flight?
Perhaps a private flight next time?

Yes, you may pre-board. When you check your bags at the airport, tell the agent that you want to be on the pre-board due to a medical condition. You are not required to disclose the nature of the condition, but you may if you wish.
Hope your flight goes well.

All that the EBCI does is check you in. There have been a dozen or so posts recently where people have complained that despite the EBCI, their boarding position was relatively poor.
I have always suggested to check in 24 hours prior to the flight - use your phone for a reminder and you will get an adequate boarding position.

I don't believe that a Southwest agent told her anything like that. I believe that people often hear what they want to hear.
With a history of open, unassigned seating, there is absolutely NO WAY anyone on Southwest is going to guarantee that you will "sit together". Simply not gonna happen.

Present the death certificate to Southwest and ask for the transfer of property (i.e. rewards points) accordingly.

For clarification, what has become known as the Holiday DISASTER was expected to cost nearly $1 BILLION.
I doubt that Southwest is trying to recover the money $0.75 at a time but you are correct that after hundreds of flights a day, it does add up.

Most will show up as a flight credit in your account for an amount equal to purchase.
If you had unusual circumstances, you could call Southwest CS and request a refund.

I will agree that, if true, there is more to the story. The most plausible explanation would be people who exit the plane and then reboard during a stop and departure.
As mentioned earlier, I questioned the Southwest CS agent thoroughly about such a practice and there are no reserved seats - PERIOD.
I also agree, close the discussion.

I called Southwest. I asked if there are ANY provisions to present at the gate or check-in and specifically ask for exit row seating. After a pause, the individual asked if I was asking whether Southwest assigns or reserves seats. I respond "yes, that's my question".
I was told that under no circumstances does Southwest reserve seats. The boarding policy was recited which includes preboard followed by A group, Family Boarding, B group, etc.
Then I asked if a flight attendant refused to let me sit in a seat that was reserved what should I do. I was told to report that to another flight attendant and ask for clarification since no seats are reserved.
As mentioned earlier, I'd suggest asking for some type of partial credit from Southwest.

People die from bee stings, too. We don't stop having flowers and the like.
My mind is made up on this one. I am NOT going to be restricted by some general announcement that someone has an allergy, someone has some sensitivity, etc.
Your rights end where mine begins. You need to make choices.
Thumbs up to Southwest for NOT announcing your condition and for suggesting that you not attend the flight!

I'll call Southwest later today and see if there is the remotest possibility that this is within their scope of operation. If it isn't, I'd suggest asking for a partial refund/credit.
I would have sat in the exit rows. Federal law covering failure to follow instructions call for reasonable instructions. If the flight attendant says to eat your thumb, you do not have to follow that instruction.
Let's also leave the personal attacks out of the discussion.

You can all name and shame me all day. I am not going to start accommodating every known hiccup and allergy when I board a plane. If the Federal law allows the accommodation, I'm all for it.
While I also appreciate your health condition, you have no right to restrict the activity of others. You can make life choices.
If I had an allergy to makeup or hair tonic, would you remove it prior to the flight if the flight attendant "announced" it to everyone?

This is an interesting story, but implausible. Southwest has a policy of open seating and there is absolutely no way to reserve a seat.
My suggesting is to ask for a partial refund for your flight if this did, in fact, occur. Southwest will investigate as to whether the seats were held and, if so, issue you some sort of credit.
I would have sat in the exit row since the policy is open seating.

I'm going to respond to the following remark:
it's clear from the other response you have received that some people don't care about others
No one has the right to come to a public gathering and insist that everyone accommodate them. I am referring generally, not in situations where the law makes specific accommodations.
As an example, where I live we have a professional fitness center which includes an Olympic sized pool. In fact, is is larger than an Olympic pool. The pool is open to outside groups for a fee, and to members, of course. I am a member.
If someone comes along and claims to have anxiety about being in a swimsuit around others and asks for the others to wear clothes at the pool, we are NOT going to accommodate such a request.
Applying your nut allergy to the world at large is simply not going to happen. While I do appreciate the situation, that is your own personal health issue and I'd suggest discussing that with a healthcare professional. No, I wouldn't break out the nuts to spite you, but neither would I be inhibited with my freedom of choice.
To suggest that the flight attendant announce your condition is inappropriate. I applaud their refusal and potential removal from the flight.

Other people on the plane have the rights to consume nuts like there is no tomorrow. Your rights end where another person's rights begin.
There is no limit to what you are asking. I'll claim a sensitivity to cotton and everyone wearing cotton is "advised" and then do what?
Your allergy is something to be dealt with by a healthcare professional, not a flight attendant.

What I'm about to say is controversial, so please consider carefully.
Southwest Vacations will likely ignore you until they have to deal with you. In my own personal life, I have a policy of placing my complaints and proposed solutions in writing so there is no "we didn't know about it" later on. If I cannot get an appropriate resolution, then I file a complaint in Small Claims court. Here in Lake County Florida, the process is pretty quick and very efficient.
Today I settled the sixth case in a series, in my favor, through mediation. Although I am not an attorney, I am familiar with the law and understand the process. Today, I went up against a seasoned attorney. I argued my case in mediation and it was settled today in my favor.
I am beyond tired of these organizations ignoring consumer complaints. When they get served the notice of suit, they come back highly offended and the bottom line is that they now have to address your concern with an elected or appointed official. None of the judges are very forgiving of these large organizations who refuse to acknowledge the consumer and provide a reasonable solution.
