@Mrsbrooks31 you should reach out and check with your recruiter/department to see if there is any way they can set your start date for 12/30 or 12/31. If itβs not until January, that means you wonβt be eligible for Profit Sharing until 2024 as you have to be employed as of January 1 to be eligible for profit sharing for that year. With a start date of January 15, you wouldnβt be eligible until 2024 for profit sharing to be paid out/added to 401(k) in 2025.

@skyrick Not a current employee just yet, but my first day is August 15th. Currently trying to get packed up and find some affordable movers to get me from Florida to Dallas. I'll be working at HDQ.
Make sure you guys check your junk mail when looking for email communications! I had a couple get shunted there.

Don't take it as though you weren't selected. It was sent to everybody who has a profile in WorkDay. I got the email, and I just got my official offer letter after 6 long weeks of waiting to clear background. So stay strong, and patience is a must in the hiring process (It was hard, From the time I applied to when I will actually be starting is right around 3 months).

My Anxiety is out of control over this. I had my interviews, got my CJO, and started the background process about 6 weeks ago. The last communication I received was about 3 weeks ago, saying that they understood it was frustrating, but that they were waiting on one piece of information.
The Status from Sterling shows that the background screening report has been completed. My Dashboard still shows "Under Review", but it also shows that it was updated yesterday, 7/25.
How long did it take for your background screening after Sterling showed your report as complete? I'm anxious because my family has already relocated except me so that my wife could start her new job, while I am stuck waiting on everything to clear still. Any advice or reassuring words would be helpful.

It depends on the individual. Some people, the background check comes back within a week. Then there are others, like me, that I am coming up on 6 weeks now. It is entirely frustrating.

@brittg72409 So, the problem doesn't lie with Southwest at the moment, it lies with Sterling. They are trying to conduct a local criminal records check from where I grew up, but haven't lived in 10+ years now. Sterling said the Court house is understaffed and so it is taking longer to complete because they can't get the records. I called a friend who happens to work in said courthouse and she said that is not the case at all, and that if I had someone go down to the courthouse I could get all the necessary documentation within about 15 minutes, and that the problem is that the background companies like Sterling don't submit more than about 15 names a day, and as a result the backlog is of Sterling's own making.
In the mean time, the ETA from sterling has been pushed back to the 25th. Which means my wife is going to be living in a hotel for a week before she is able to stay with a friend, while I am stuck here in Florida until at least the middle of August. Its entirely frustrating. At this rate, we are going to exceed 6 weeks since I got my CJO, and I am being forced to go through a bunch of unnecessary trainings at my work that won't help me with my position with Southwest.
If you want to email me you can at redruss7 at hotmail
Let me know when you get the email so that I can delete it from here.

@brittg72409 No news. Itβs kind of frustrating, and it is causing all kinds of problems. My wife is now having to go out by herself for at least 2 weeks before I will be able to get out there, and itβs causing problems with us being able to put our house here in Florida up for sale, not to mention the problems that itβs going to cause financially with the change in pay periods from my current job to the next one.
sorry, venting a little bit of frustration here. Iβm seeing posts of people who received the CJO well after Iβd got mine who have already completed their background screening and have a start date. There is absolutely no reason that my background screening should be taking this long. Itβs been over a month since my CJO and drug test.

@About2be @brittg72409 It looks like, according to Sterling, they have initiated a THIRD background check on me. It is supposed to be done tomorrow however. The funny thing is, my background check should not be this complicated. I have lived in the same place, worked the same job for the last five years, the only thing I have is a couple of speeding tickets (One was paid, the other I took a driving class for). My background is so uncomplicated it shouldn't take more than an hour to get through it, lol.

@About2be I am trying very hard to be optimistic, but I have already had to delay my notice date with my current job, which means I am going to be moving my wife out to Dallas and having to come back to Florida to finish out my 2-week notice. If this isnβt resolved this week, we are going to be hard pressed to find a place to live in time for me to my wife out there as well. @brittg72409 We are trying to rent a house rather than an apartment, but as a result they are much more finicky about what they will accept as proof of income, so with out the official offer letter with start date, we are up a creek.
I try to avoid burning bridges when I leave employers, mainly because I want to leave a good impression and not be the employee they refer to as the wrong way to do things. Unfortunately, that means my wife and I will likely end up having to live apart for at least a week if not longer, which is difficult when you are trying to set up a new house.
I just really hope I hear back soon.

@brittg72409 I have no idea what is going on with my background screening, and its a little bit frustrating. I have been in communication with my employment screening coordinator, as well as my recruiting coordinator, and all I have been told is "You have already passed everything that would prevent an offer from being extended" and "we haven't received your background screening yet".
When I check my screening status with Sterling, it says that southwest has ordered 2 screenings for me, 1 with my last name misspelled that shows an estimated completion date of July 15th, and 1 with my name spelled correctly that says the screening report has already been completed.
I brought this up to my screening coordinator, and received an email that simply said they were looking into the delay and the cause of the delay, and that they hope to have an answer for me soon.
We are supposed to be moving in 2 weeks for my wife to start her new job, but I haven't even been able to put my notice in at my current employer because of the situation. It also makes it difficult for us to obtain housing, because the places we have narrowed down to live all want an official, signed offer letter from both of our potential employers. The stress is real right now.

@brittg72409 Tuesday, 7/5, still waiting to clear the background screening. Confirmed with my recruiter coordinator that I had completed all the big stuff, and that there was nothing left that would prevent a formal offer being made, but still havenβt gotten the 100% clear notice from the background team yet. I have no idea what is taking so long for the βlast pieceβ. With my wife starting her new job on the 25th, I really need to get the ball rolling on getting set up in Dallas.

@brittg72409 Still waiting for my stuff to clear......Its kind of nerve racking at this point because from my conversations with them they made it seem like it was pretty much wrapped up a week ago. I'm getting to the point where I need to put in my notice with my current employer to keep all the balls in the air for moving to Texas without burning bridges, but I don't want to put in my notice until I have that firm start date...

You don't sign the CJO. You only sign the official offer once you have cleared background screening. You should have received a link to acknowledgements and authorizations for the background screening. Other than that, you should be good to go.

Thanks for the info! Really what I need right now is a good recommendation for an apartment. Our budget is a little bit tight, but we are trying to get a 2-bed 2-bath somewhere for under 2k if we can manage it. We will be bringing 2 cats along with us too.
My wife will be starting her new job at Trinity Lakes Elementary in the HEB ISD on July 25. We are trying to find a place somewhere between there and Corporate, mainly looking in the Las Colinas, Centreport, Euless areas. Any suggestions or areas to avoid would be most helpful!
I am particularly anxious about my start date, since we are moving from out-of-state and I really need a start date close to my wifeβs to make budget and everything work. π
Also, could you give me an idea of the cost of utilities run in the area?

@GelleyRiv22 @brittg72409 , Update, I heard from my Recruiter coordinator today. She said I was still in the background check phase according to my applicant file, but that I had cleared the most significant hurdles so she didn't think it would be much longer. She said that we should get an email from the background check team once they have processed the clearance to move forward, and that shortly after we get that email we should be contacted by our recruiter to talk about a start date.

@GelleyRiv22 We are actually looking in the Euless/Centreport area for a place. It looks like my wife will be able to get a position teaching at Trinity Lakes Elementary School (HEB ISD), so we are looking for a place closer to her employment since I am planning on taking DART into work once we get established, and she will have to drive. Do you have any suggestions about who to contact or any good complexes in those areas?

@brittg72409 My Recruiter coordinator actually sent me a copy of my sterling report (which was completed 6/15) when they asked for my W-2s and pay stub. I think this is mainly because I asked them not to contact my current employer (my current employer is vengeful and if they found out I was looking at another job they would likely let me go on the spot).
So I know the Sterling part is done, and that they have also pulled my credit thanks to that as well.

Thanks for the heads-up. We aren't putting in any applications until we have a chance to travel out and actually look at the apartments, and then we will put an application in in-person. We are in a similar situation, in that we own our house right now, but I think we are going to try to rent it out instead of selling it.
Also, I bet the no fingerprints rule is just for the corporate positions. I think the airport employees still have to do it because they have to have a USPS background screening as well since they sometimes handle mail shipments.
With our timelines, I bet we will both find out around the same time when our start-date will be. Just out of curiosity, what state will you be moving from? I am relocating from Florida.

Its been really rough to find an apartment that suits what I need! I need pet-friendly, and the extra charges for that are outrageous. Also have to find a spot where the commute for my wife and her potential new job isn't too bad. I am grateful that Dallas has a decent Metro system with a stop right by the corporate headquarters building. Monthly pass is only $97, so that will give me some good savings in gas. My commute to my current job is 42 miles one-way, lol.

Hope to meet you as well, as we start this exciting new journey at HDQ!

I had a phone interview with a recruiter on June 1st for a corporate position, and they indicated during the phone interview that they would be trying to fill the position quickly and that I should expect to hear back from them likely by the end of that week on whether I am selected so that they could see about scheduling a virtual interview for the beginning of this week. I felt like the phone interview went well, but it has been radio silence since then, and we are already past the time when he said I could likely expect to hear something.
Should I be worried? Is it possible that they moved on with other candidates and just didnβt tell me that I wasnβt selected for a virtual interview?
