So there are several buttons you would hand had to click
1. There would be a pop up telling you that you would need to check in for your flight again (since you say you changed it yesterday and your flight was yesterday so you should have been checked in)
2. You select the flight and it takes you to a screen that shows that the difference in fare would be $0
3. you would click continue where it would show you your info (day of travel info your name and receipt email) where you must click book or make changes (I forget what It says exactly)
4. once you do number 4 it should say your trip is booked and show you the new itinerary instantly and it would update when you type in your confirmation number on the app/website immediately. The email confirmation should come right away.
I have never seen a message that says I will not receive an update right away and I have had many flight irregularities (IROPS) the updated email usually arrives instantly but sometimes it could take up to 10min to hit my inbox.

Yes, the companion has a reserved space on the plane. Southwest no longer oversells their flights so unless there is an unexpected equipment change, no one with a reservation should be bumped or unable to fly.

My flight this past Friday was oversold due to a COS so they do over cell in certain circumstances. I was also personally bumped back in January because of a cargo situation they needed three people.

If you want to hold a seat but don’t have points you could book an anytime fare that way you get the money back to a CC. If your going to travel again you could book the WGA+ and once you cancel you could transfer the funds to yourself to book the next trip.

Sorry to hear about your situation it’s not fun to wait around for a later flight after you moved to the earlier flight. Did you check your bag tag receipt when you checked your bag? Anytime I check a bag. I will always check the receipt just to make sure it is tagged correctly because I had a situation similar to yours and I had to wait or come back the next day.
you can share your feedback with Southwest directly by clicking on the contact us link at the bottom of this page and somebody will reach out to you. If you paid the fair difference you might even politely ask them to refund that since you’re stuck waiting for that late flight anyway you could always provide your friends confirmation as proof that theirs was done correctly while yours was done wrong.
In the future, always check the bag receipt before you leave the counter takes two seconds, and hopefully will avoid these problems in the future.

Never did I suggest anything about Southwest failing to be "well versed in operating in other countries".
My comments are limited to what is written. I would suggest that you re-read the post and refrain from inserting comments that were not raised in my response.
You do realize when another user responds to a post they will show up under you right? This doesn’t mean they are replying to you
in this case you would know if he responded to you because it would probably have the @floridaguy in the post (remember you always get mad when he tags you in this case he didn’t gag you so the reply was not for you)
please don’t pick on the middle seat he saves me from that awful seat by taking it himself 😂

Great idea dispute the charge 😂 JK. yes give Southwest a chance to refund the EB fee and they might also throw in a LUV voucher for the inconvenience of the flight disruption (depending on why the flight was late) which you could use on a new flight to hopefully have a better experience.

So you can’t upgrade a free ticket that’s the first thing. also you don’t need to show a companion pass card because those aren’t mailed out anymore and usually once you are able to add your companion info on the website you can usually use the pass right away (only exception might be if they issue a promotional companion pass if they put the pass in an account early)
if you really want your companion to board with you they can buy upgraded boarding if available on the app starting 24 hours before your flight then they would be in the A1-15 group. If BS is sold out you could pay for Early Bird check in and hope they are in the upper A or low B group

Forum,
I purchased earlybird check-in for the first time for my upcoming flight. From what I know about earlybird check-in, supposedly I get checked in automatically 36 hours before the flight. Well, I checked my reservation about 20 hours in advance on both a laptop browser @ southwest.com and with the android app, there was absolutely no indication that I'd been checked in! So, I manually checked in. Boarding pass said B2 boarding position. I have no idea whether or not earlybird did anything. Comments??
For A-list if I'm logged into the app I do get a pop up if you have it enabled that says "your position is A-16+... or something like that. I'm not sure if that also works with EBCI or not but I do get what seems to be an automatic check-in.
I'm vague about the distinction between being checked in at T-36 hours and then retrieving your boarding pass or "reconfirming your check in" anytime after T-24 hours.
What is a check-in? 😂 Why are the planes blue? Existential questions.
I used to get a pop up but haven’t received one since last year but I get the random notification when they issue one like a for a sale or schedule extension.

I know a lot of times they err on the side of caution because they do not want to be with Service and then have bumps the rest of the flight where it makes it hard for them to clean up the cabin. I know there was a nice weather System moving through yesterday so it was probably around on the 14th as well.
want a non alcoholic beverage on your flight you can always bring one onboard that way you don’t have to rely on inflight service.
if you noticed there are no bumps for a while. You could also try asking the flight attendant for a drink. the worst they would say is no

I notice for 700 aircraft’s it’s 35min turn (sometimes 30 in small cities like OKC, LBB) if they do an aircraft swap they allow 45min for the turn
with the 800 and MAX8 planes it is a 45min turn (sometimes 50-55min) when it is an aircraft swap they do an hour however it can always leave before that the system just does that hints why a flight might be showing delayed 1min

While I personally don’t know much about how the chase points work you could always call back and get a 2nd opinion from another agent or ask a supervisor. I feel if the price goes down you should be entitled to a refund of the difference or credit for future flight since that’s how it would work if you booked with SW direct.
i know there are a couple CC experts here hopefully they will be more help.

Hi - I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find my exact situation. I need to reserve a flight on the same day to the same destination but at different times from different cities. I'm not sure which city I'll need to depart from until closer to departure. I know same city same day same destinations get cancelled by SW, but what about different city, different times, same destination? Any thoughts or recommendations? TIA
Can you give a little more info?
how far apart time-wise?
what fare are you buying?
is this for work or personal?
how late in the game do you need to hold both tickets?
There is a chance it will be fine - it’s obvious here you are looking at two completely different flights and the system may not flag you as a possible overbook. (Or maybe it will - I think the different cities is a good distinction though)
Will either of the fares be refundable? Personally if I were the algorithm I’d allow someone to have two mutually exclusive refundable tickets. That would show you are serious about flying at a certain time, even if the price is more.
Is this a work travel where you can take your best guess and then pay the extra later if fares go up and you chose incorrectly?
I don’t know the risk and reward here for tying up the funds vs potentially spending more for a last minute ticket, or no seats being available, etc.
Last idea and I’ll accept comments from the peanut gallery on this one - what if you didn’t put your RR# on your most likely ticket and waited, does the cancellation algorithm know it’s you if one ticket has RR and one doesn’t? This would get hairy of course if you wouldn’t know which flight less than a day out when you’d want RR and KTN to be entered at least 36 hours prior.
Otherwise unfortunately if none of these ideas work to your risk level then you might need to book a refundable ticket from another carrier. I would hate to do that but if you absolutely have to do it this way with both tickets right up to the last minute then it may be the only sure option to keep one from being automatically canceled.
I think you should be able to book without a RR number on one ticket because otherwise just think of all the issues that would this would cause for common names like John Doe or my dad, brother, and grandpa all have the same first/last name

You waited until you exited the plane to report the issue? At that point what would you expect the FA to do?
was it a full flight? If not did you not try moving seats?
if you are in fear of calling the FA inflight just take a walk to the back and talk to the FA in the back and they can take action

When Hawaii flights first started I had to do an overnight in Vegas on the way home because no flights would connect to get me back to AUS so you may have to do a point to point booking to get to PIT
example: HNL-SAN-PIT or try a different airport in Hawaii since usually inter islands flights are cheap and see if you can get to PIT from somewhere else (the point you point doesn’t technically have to be on the mainland)

So here’s what I would do
1. book flight with voucher and CC for taxes
2. immediately cancel (online or on the app no need to call and cancel) select refund to CC for taxes
3. take that confirmation number from the flight you just booked and canceled and apply it as travel funds to new booking (the voucher portion is now a travel fund) you can apply the rest of the voucher if any is remaining

@Lightcs
WGA+ tickets are still considered a non refundable ticket so if you cancel the taxes would also be held as travel funds if you cancel outside of the 24 hour rule.
Vouchers don’t cover taxes unless you book a flight pay the taxes then immediately cancel and request a refund to CC of taxes then you rebook with travel funds and the voucher as travel funds cover taxes

When calling 800-435-9792 you can try asking for a service coordinator maybe they can help or open a higher priority case? there is always the snail mail method as well but that would take time as well
my mom reached out via Twitter and had her points in her account (without a code) just 10 hours later after the quick investigation
my guess with why is takes long when they say the email was sent they have to make sure the code wasn’t entered in a different account because anyone can enter the code so it’s not just check your account to see no points were added
