I had this happen on a LAS to MDW flight...we walked up and assumed it was a prior flight as there were only about five people left to board. When we got the gate check tag for the strollers we found out it was our flight and didn't get to sit together, literally the last three people on the plane. I'd accept a text message for boarding more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule as well. We were in the airport, but not at the gate.

Ability to buy a "ten pack" of wifi codes would work great too, either similar to drink coupons or even better to have it stored in the RR account login. I'd consider an annual subscription as well, although right now if it is for work then I need to reimburse each time separately.

Also make sure that you are opted-in for drink coupons: https://www.southwest.com/myaccount/preferences/travel Then look for two boxes where you can toggle between "airport" and "extras" and click on extras.

You'll likely have your Rapid Rewards account setup in advance, just provide the same RR account when you enroll each time. As Southwest mentioned, they will combine multiple RR accounts if you accidentally end up with more than one. It should be one RR account per person.

If I'm understanding the situation - you kept the original FLL-Jamaica flight, likely becuase it was cheaper or otherwise favorable not to cancel that one? A better recommendation would be to cancel the BWI-FLL flight and then change the FLL-Jamaica flight to become a BWI-Jamaica flight using the cancelled funds to pay the difference, then your luggage would go through directly, etc. (No change fees!) If changing isn't possible due to the cost of the Jamaica flight going up since you first booked, or you are combining points on one leg and paying cash for the other leg then it gets more complicated. I haven't been to FLL before, so I can't comment on the amount of time it will take to retrieve your luggage and go back through security in time to board for Jamaica, but it sounds kind of tight to me. Hopefully you have PreCheck.

Hobby only has one "terminal" but the international flights for Southwest will depart from the gates 1-5 which I would call a separate concourse while most domestic flights will be in the 20-50 block of gates. It should take 10 or 15 minutes to walk from the furthest domestic gates to the 1-5 area, and there are a couple of moving walkways on the path to help you out. Don't accidentally go out of security and you will be fine. Your bag should go through to Jamaica, you can verify when you check in at Denver that it won't have a "HOU" luggage tag. https://d14ik00wldmhq.cloudfront.net/media/filer_public/63/7b/637be34b-6487-4f08-ad2d-47215711dbc2/hou__printable_airport_directory_l2_verti_updated_1-24-17_.pdf For quick grab and go there is a Peet's and also a Chick-fil-A at the entrance to the Gates 1-5 area if you have time.

It might be cozy! Southwest has only 737 aircraft, so the seats are fairly uniform. If you've been on a 737 before then that experience is probably the best guide.

BNA is a pretty happy layover spot in my experience. 40 minutes is tight anywhere and probably at the limit of what Southwest will book you for. If both flights are on schedule you are bascially 100% to make the flight, but you may be cutting it close on a particular boarding position if the outbound flight boards right at T-minus 30 minutes. With all of the Southwest gates on one concourse I think a brisk walk will get you between the furthest two gates in ten minutes. There is a "pod" at the end of the concourse with a cluster of gates so you will be just as likely to only walk across the corridor to reach your gate. I've had this several times coming from PNS to MDW. If you have more time at BNA there are many places to eat, starbucks, and live music throughout the concourse. Tennessee BBQ. Sushi. More live music. It's certainly not a place I would hesitate to have an hour+ layover. David

We do usually call ahead of time and have our daughter added, but i believe you can show up at the ticket counter with a birth certificate and add your child then. Calling ahead of time makes thing go smoothly if you use curbside checkin, especially if you have some extra baby-related items to check.

Double-check that the names on KTN and Southwest were an exact match, this can be a cause for it not to show up. Then also you may add the KTN at the airport (or call ahead) if you have time and reprint. As @franktravel mentioned it isn't a guarantee, but you may be able to try again at the airport or calling the 800 number in case the hiccup was that it didn't import from your profile. When booking I always make sure that it is typed in. If it doesn't automatically populate during booking it will only be filled in later if you call or check, it doesn't come from the profile at any other time.

It doesn't always pull from your profile correctly, you can attempt to add the KTN at the airport if you have time and try to reprint the boarding pass, this has worked for us several times before. Also make sure the name is an exact match. Differences can also cause PreCheck not to show up on the boarding pass.

I have found that sometimes the WGA fares do persist into the current day, although maybe this isn't the case for your particular route unfortunately. I don't know exactly what algorithm is behind the reservation system that makes WGA unavailable most times but not all times. I'm sure many flights without WGA fares are actually fully booked, but it sounds like you have a route that is often not fully booked but still only has Anytime/Business Selects?

The terminology might be mixed up, but the theory is correct - for A1-A15 in Business Select fares, the order is by who purchased first. If your boss is buying tickets last minute, then he would be more likely to get A9, and having A-list preferred wouldn't affect that position. Then for A15 and up the A-list preferred and A-list get reserved first at 36 hours, and then the Early Bird tickets are reserved after them. I'm not sure about the tie-breaker for A-list preferred and A-list order, it may also be according to earlier ticket purchases as well. This would make sense to me as it might be splitting hairs to allocate one before another in terms of current tier qualifying points for the year. My experience is that I often buy tickets last minute, but before the 36 hour mark, and end up at the end of the A-list groups which support the theory.

Fortunately you shouldn't have to see LAX other than through the plane window. You should get an opportunity to change seat locations once the flight attendants count the "through" passengers. Only if there are delays you may be offered a chance to deplane and reboard. You'll have one boarding pass. As was pointed out in the other response, you will have two separate boarding passes for the return flight. When you check in for the first flight you will automatically check in for the second flight as well which may help improve your boarding position since you get a head start on the 24-hour check-ins. (Depending on number of A-list and early birds on that leg.) The only thing to watch for is time between connections since you will be changing planes, but if I recall correctly all the Southwest gates at SAN are close (very close) together so as long as you have 30 minutes you should be okay.

This one sounds tricky. Obviously the rules for travel would apply to dual-citizenship regardless of which passport you used, but the question seems to be could some paperwork be avoided at the airports by choosing wisely which was presented? Maybe the contact information on this site will help: https://cu.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/traveling-to-cuba/ Anyway - I hope you find the answer, but I'd suggest a USA resource instead of Southwest. This forum is a great tool for travelers, but I think your request might be one that is very specific and not many people will have experienced for themselves yet, and you need one of those (few) people to also be active on the message board...

To further simplify - most people buy Wanna Get Away fares to save money compared to the competition. WGA fares include two free checked bags and no change fees, re-usable value if cancelled. Earns points at 6x. When people talk about flying Southwest, these are usually what they are buying. Anytime - you might buy this fare because you need a refundable ticket for whatever reason, and it earns points at 10x. These might be considered if you are buying last-minute tickets or making last-minute changes and the WGA fares are all gone. You may never buy one... ...in almost any case if I had to buy an Anytime ticket, I'd buy a Business Select ticket instead, for the extra $20 you get the A1-A15 boarding, a drink ticket, and earn 12x points instead of 10x. Especially if you are in the running for A-list or companion pass and you had to spend the premium $ on a ticket you'd rather get the 12x points than the 10x points. Infrequent flyers still may want the fly-by security lane and the priorty boarding, even if chasing A-list isn't feasible. I don't have stats on this, but I expect Anytime tickets to be purchased by infrequent Southwest customers booking last minute or where the refundable ticket is required but at the lowest price, and who don't need any of the boarding perks or want a premium beverage. I think frequent Southwest customers would go for Business Select instead, for the points, and maybe to maximize the chance at an exit row seat.

@Love4life88 it probably stood out to the flight attendant since most of the preboarders go for the front due to mobility issues, and you were running to the back to sit in a spot that most people would find less desirable. I know where you are coming from though...I'd say if possible, just don't let it bother you. There's no way for them to know, and you are just doing what you need to make the flight better for everyone. I'll be honest it hadn't even occured to me to pre-board for this issue, but since I fly a lot I have the A-list anyway so I can usually get my prized aisle spot without a preboard. What you are doing makes sense to me, just keep doing it. I really think it was just that your pattern differed from the other preboarders that caught their attention.

I've had the VPN work before, but I primarily wanted to use remote desktop and the connection was not very fast for that purpose. A number of variables might conspire against you having good VPN connection, or to do what you intended once you establish it. I haven't run enough experiments yet to see if sitting in a particular row of the aircraft improves the service...I'd be very interested to hear feedback from some of the other frequent posters @franktravel @chgoflyer @sarahsmith My experience so far is that the wifi is good for basic web browsing, email, and messaging but if I'm working on big report files I bring a thumb drive.

We also had this issue. I had to type in the number when I booked the companion fare, the system didn't pull it from the profile automatically even though it was stored there. The KTN in the profile worked for her own original bookings, but not companion bookings by me. The companion can also call and have it added separately anytime, or add it at the airport if you are checking bags anyway and reprint/download the boarding pass.

They want you to have a good follow through when you hit the course. Just kidding...I'm speculating, but I expect limited liability because it is mentioned with the soft case instead of a hard one. Google pops up some similar language for other airlines. You may need to verify this through the "regular" Southwest help line instead of the forums if it is an issue.

I wanted to verify that if you meant increasing your points to 12x instead of 6x (WGA) or 10x (Anytime) then the answer is no. Think of it more like a "super early bird" that gets you in the A1-A15 section, but you still have your previous fare and associated points earning ratio.

As an added bonus, you may earn slightly better position for the second flight since you are already checked-in with a couple of hours head start on the 24-hour check-in timeframe. A-list and early bird will still be ahead of you, those position assignments process 36 hours ahead of the flight.

The "WGA" fares may not be available really close to the date of travel, I'd suggest to consider when you might need to change things - if you are looking at months or weeks of advanced notice, you should be in good position to change. There's no change fee, you only pay the difference in fare. The wrinkle is that a same day change or only a few days ahead may have larger fare differences if all the WGA fares are taken and only Anytime or Business Select remain. Instead of flight insurance SW will allow you to cancel the flight and hold the funds as a voucher for future use (no change fee) that has a one year expiration. You can probably get some third-party trip insurance but hopefully the flights are cheap enough and SWA's flexibility is enough that you don't need it.

We have gotten great mileage out of our $15 SW car seat bags. We have one for the pack and play, and one that we put the stroller and car seat into. The bags are pretty large, you can probably put two car seats in one bag. We use these both for curbside checking the pack and play, and also gate checking the car seat and stroller. Baggage handling inherently has some wear and tear and we were happy to have the blue bag take the brunt of it. One time it was moderately excessive and we asked for and had the bag replaced at baggage handling. The contents came through just fine.

We love our $15 bags which keep things from being scuffed incidentally, and also I think adds visibility. We use one for checking the pack and play too (check that at curbside), and then taking the stroller and car seat together in a second blue bag for gate check. David

I'll second @LindseyD - if you are considering booking in points, there isn't much downside to grabbing it now and waiting to see what happens. If you cancel or change you plans, you get the points returned to your account.
