@SWDigits wrote: @jksobonya wrote: Cancel the flight and use the travel funds to rebook with the correct name. --Jessica I don't think that will work because "Travel funds from unused or canceled flight reservations have to be used by the originally ticketed passenger." In this case that would be a non-existent passenger with the wrong last name. Source page: https://www.southwest.com/flight/travel-funds-search.html You're right! I didn't think that the travel funds were still in the original passenger's name. That's a no-go. --Jessica

I would have loved to hear their take. I've done a huge amount of reading on this subject, beginning right after the first crash, and I realize it's a very complicated situation, with multiple legitimate viewpoints. I'm staying abreast of developments and am cautiously optimistic MAX will return (to everyone's satisfaction) in 2020.

@byrdbrain591 More of like download reading material or movie to watch. Comedy should be of first choice. For instance: Jeff Foxworthy along with his comedy partners. It should be more of relaxing atomsphere whilist on flight. This is my best choice.

@ffflyer wrote: SWA may not come out and say it but their actions obviously say that you can save as many seats as you want. The FAs will not intervene. Our choices are to go along with this or fly another airline. For me, SWA is almost always the lowest cost, most convenient, and most on time choice. But my frustration grows with each flight. Seeing people in line ahead of me who didn't pay for EB, along with the ever growing line of pre-boarders and seat savers is making me take a hard look at other airlines. No airline is perfect. With SW you've got early boarders and seat savers. With everybody else you get charges for 1) specific seats 2) checked baggage 3) up to $200 to use travel funds that happen as a result of changing/cancelling flights 4) carry ons - for some 5) beverages / snacks for some 6) forgetting to print your boarding pass before getting to the airport fo some You pick your poison. For me it's a no brainer -- SW all the way -- maybe because in my over 600 flights over the last 20 years, I have never seen a "seat saving" altercation, and seldom have a problem finding an appropriate seat.

@Shellbell_76377 Southwest employees should have a "Southwest" icon next to their name, see @NicoleAshley for example. I can't speak for others but I am a frequent poster so you may see my name repeatedly too. I am definitely not employed by Southwest, I'm here for a host of reasons, to include to try to help others.

I had to search through my tweets, as I normally tweet something when I get an especially good seat on a flight .... and I've had front row twice. While it's nice to be at the VERY front of the plane, I do find the lack of overhead bin space and the inability to have anything in front of your seat (because there are no seats in front of you lol) a drawback. It's still great to say you had "front row" on a Southwest flight ... as close to first class as you're going to get, lol. --Jessica

I don't think November will be a huge issue, it will be colder but that's about it. Weather can be a factor any time of year, but of course snow/ice in the winter months are harsher elements than just rain. --Jessica

Why didn't you try booking the flight online? And I'm confused: were you trying to book the flight with points, or with a credit card? Assuming with points, and assuming you had enough points to cover the flight, you would only need your CC to pay the $5.60 security fee. I also don't understand how you can have 4 pending charges and 9 pending charges. Wouldn't they all be from Southwest? So 13 pending charges of $5.60? Something isn't adding up here - so you are telling us that they tried to charge your card 13 different times to pay for a flight? --Jessica

I agree, it would also help when managing my expense reports by going to one place, "my trips". I will also send this suggestion to customer service.

@Shellbell_76377 wrote: From what I have dealt with it doesn't change anything to contact customer relations. I will also be canceling my southwest card and going with Delta. Southwest doesn't seem to be concerned with losing customers. SW doesn't lose any more customers than any other airline - probably less. A certain subgroup of passengers have it "up to here" and swear off an airline every year. I've done it. There are reasons SW flies more people in the lower 48 than anyone else (and has for years), as well as having the best customer satisfaction score of major airlines. Sorry to hear you are leaving..If / when you get tired of the various fees the others charge, feel free to return.

I’m “one of those” that saves seats, when traveling with my family. I do have a few rules I like to abide by: no row before row 9 and definitely not an exit row. I fly enough that I’m one of the first 3 passengers to board after Business Select, but my family ends up in late A or early B. Saving the exit row is a “no no” in my opinion. Excessive seat saving in the front is a “no no” too. I’ve been on a flight where 2 ladies held 13 seats for friends, in the first 7 rows. 🙄

"how do i see them if i dont have all the past reservations I have made?" That is exactly what you have to do to keep track of your travel funds. You need to remember what flights you changed and at the very least, the confirmation number of the flight. Your travel funds are linked to the confirmation number, and you can look up your travel fund balances here: https://www.southwest.com/flight/travel-funds-search.html Beware though, that travel funds are only valid a year from the *original* date of purchase, and considering this post is over a year old, if you did not use your travel funds by now, you are almost certainly out of luck. --Jessica

The best part of this entire thread is the OP somehow getting a boarding assignment of "C62." I hope you framed that boarding pass! Despite the one other recent poster having a somewhat similar run of bad luck, there's no conspiracy here. Your boarding position is assigned based on a variety of factors already outlined. If you 'wait' to check in and you don't have A-List, EB, etc., you are all but guaranteed to get a C position. There are exceptions: mainly when flights are not 100% full. There have been times when I forgot to check in for a few hours, got a C, and was able to manage an aisle seat. Rare, but it happens. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones 😉 --Jessica

I believe in the days before the mandatory 24 cancelation window existed you could put a reservation on hold over the phone then complete the purchase later at the ticket counter, which would line up with what this customer was trying to do. That is no longer an option so much of the discussion is now irrelevant. Cash, and all other forms of payment, is accepted at the airport counter, but the purchase must be completed in one transaction/interaction. --TheMiddleSeat

Considering the flight was only booked yesterday, the fact that the payment is 'pending' is not unusual. It normally takes a few days for the payment to post to my CC. But that aside, assuming the payment does post, then you should have your flight information under your account information on Southwest.com and you should have been e-mailed your itinerary. --Jessica

Posts like this always puzzle me. I wonder what exactly 'happened' 3 years ago to an individual / family to make Southwest issue over $1,000 worth of vouchers. Missed connection? Missed flight? Something else? Considering your user name is 'upset mom of three', I am willing to bet the farm that the compensation had something to do with your kids. You had an entire year to use the funds, that's plenty of time. Sorry, but without more detail regarding your situation, I am not very sympathetic to whatever issue you or your family might have suffered, especially considering you are complaining about it now, on a public forum, 3 years later. --Jessica

I wonder if they had a last minute craft swap? Normally, they would not have said they had a seat, but maybe the computer system did not catch up with craft swap. Some of the older 737s have only 4 seats on the exit row whereas most 737s have six seats. I am sorry this happened to you and the lady you were sitting next to. This is not typical, so I hope you will give the, another chance someday.
