I have transferred points a couple times, and that is when the other person just needs 1000 or 2000 points to be able to use the rest of their to complete a flights and I don't have enough to book it for them. (for example, recently there was a 30% sale to HI and my daughter had 14000 points but needed 15000 to go to HI so I transferred her 1000 points so she could book the flight) That is the only time I have transferred, and yes the cost is very high comparatively. (and in hindsight I probably could have transferred from my Chase card for free)

I don’t know of a way to search for them specifically but I you have a destination in mind you can use the flexible search and find the low ones by month; I was able to rebook a couple flights as well as found some new one; most of the deals I found were Tue / wed or early morning and late night on other days

I am just crossing my fingers that you will be able to book a paid fare, and a points fare for another person, or even different fares, on the same reservation; It is painful that I cannot book my family's flights on a single reservation and it is difficult to manage when you actually can. I think this is wishful thinking though.

The ability to do the cash plus points has not rolled out yet so you can’t currently do that. I would expect that when it does You will be able to pay a portion of it with points and the remainder with your credit card. How that works and the amount of credit you get for your points remains to be seen; currently you can buy points to supplement the points you have but the cost of points is expensive in mine mind, I have only bought points if I need a thousand or two for a flight

You can, but you may need to call SW customer service to cancel his portion, they can help.

Yes I was wonder this too. The exchange is terrible if you use points to book a hotel; I also read that if you use a combination of points and $$ that the flight won't count toward A status for those who are trying to reach that.

Yup had 3 that were rescheduled, fortunately this time they were for the better except 1; However I did have a weird glitch where the prices dropped on every flight for the day for the 1 bad one, so I canceled it to get the cheaper fare (because when you do the free change, it won't give you the new price) and just as it was in my cart and I hit pay, I got an error; Went back and the price had gone up over $100; And on top of it, what was weird was my original flight (which I still had 2 family members on) was not even available to select for me or customer service; By the end of the evening the prices on that flight went from $230 to over $700 then today they are back down it was crazy. Fortunately I called customer service and they took care of it all and got all parties on better flight.

I would expect your Dec-24 /Jan-24 statement to count toward 2025 A status; This was the logic I pushed back on them that the Jan-24 statement should count at the new rate since it counted for the 2024 qualification, but for the rate used in the calculation, they didn't agree, the status points still went toward 2024.

The Dec points that are on the Jan bill will not post at the new 2024 rate, they are at the old 2023 rate. I had the same and contacted customer service both SW and Chase and they would not change it.

If you had purchases in Dec that went on a Jan credit card bill, these won't count at the 2024 rate, they count at the 2023 rate. I had this on my Jan bill and really pushed for it because their wording would imply differently, but they would not budge.

In additional to the prior post about the other passengers can't do a same day change unless they are IWG+, I had an issue with being able to use the SW app for standby when I had a companion fare on my reservation. With the two of us, it would not let me select standby. I do not know if this is the case for paid fares on a single reservation but it was for Companion fare. In addition I am a A-preferred I wanted to get on a later flight that did not have a same day change available and they said we had to get on standby at the airport. Well of course by then, the standby list is full because everyone else can get added via the app and it is first come first serve. Southwest does not handle single reservations with multiple people very well, there are many downsides. I don't know if anyone else has had experience trying to put multiple people on standby under a single reservation, but if planning to change, and haven't already purchased the tickets, you may want to consider each getting their own reservation.

The low fare calendar just shows all the fares within a month so you can search for the lowest fare if you have flexibility, it does not present different prices than if you searched for a specific day, The prices you saw were from a sale that had specific time you had to book by before they went up. You can see the sales offers under promotions and timelines on the home page

If it was booked prior to you registering for the promotion it would not count; However if it was previously booked and the current prices worked for you, you can cancel it and rebook it. Just have to book by 3/27 and fly by 5/22 and has to be a revenue flight (booked with $$ and not booked on points or as another persons companion)

I travel extensively for sports and frequently do not know the schedule when I book. I love, love, love the flexibility of the same day change, I love the companion fare and love the ability to rebook and receive a credit when there is a sale.

I would add that having pre-boarders also have to wait to get off the plane until last would curb those that take advantage of the rules and policies. If they need special assistance to board then it makes sense to me to wait until everyone is off to get that same special assistance to de-board off. I have seen this at other airlines and it seems fair.

I believe people may get different promotions and timeframes, I did not have one that ended in Jan but did have one that ended in Dec and from what I have experienced for the last few promotions I have earned, it takes just about 8 weeks before the points post to your account.

Unfortunately EarlBird check in isn't refundable unless SW cancels the flight;
This is from their website:
EarlyBird Check-In purchases are non-refundable. Customers who cancel their flight will forfeit the previously purchased EarlyBird Check-In option for that particular flight.
In the event that a flight is canceled by Southwest, we recognize that the decision was not within the Customer's control and will process a refund of the EarlyBird Check-In purchase on Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares for that particular flight in the Customer's itinerary. The purchaser's credit card will be refunded within seven business days. If you do not receive the EarlyBird Check-In refund in this time frame, then please contact us for further assistance.

Was the time on your flight adjusted after you purchased it and you are eligible for a free itinerary change? If that was the case when you go to change it it will not give a reduce price you have to cancel and rebook to get the lower price; however since your screen shot actually shows a negative amount I am guessing this is not the situation because it would show zero amount;

They say to allow up to 8 weeks to post; The last couple of promotions for me didn't get posted until very close to the 8 week mark; Also, on this specific promotion I think that I personally got confused on the terms, but not sure if that is the case for you. I initially thought it was for any purchases but as I read the details, I think it is only for southwest purchases.

As mentioned in other posts you can add the companion now but it does make it a few more clicks if you have to change or cancel your flight because you have to cancel the companion reservation first, make your change, then add the back on the reservation; However, I do think the complication is worth it because if you are on popular flights you will only be able to add a companion if there is a seat on the plane. If you wait and the flight sells out you will not be able to add the companion. If you add it right away, your companions seat is secure. For this reason I always add the companion right away.

Sorry this was confusing, I have learned some tricks that are helpful to track your status. 1st the terms are listed in this community board; see the new changes for 2024 they have lowered the number of flights to get A list and also decrease the number of CC points needed to earn the 1500 bonus toward A status; you can also check your progress toward A list as well as companion pass in your RR account under your account; you can also look at your points activity and filter it by type such as companion fare or A list and see what was applied; I have just noticed that some flight bonus points don’t count toward CP or A list either and they have added that information when I look at the points for a flight it will say how much also goes toward CP and A and it is quite a bit less

If you are redeeming points from different accounts, I believe they would all have to be different reservations. If all the points are in one account they could be on the same reservation; Anytime you have to use different payment methods or fare types (dollars for one person, points for another; IWG+ for one person IWG for another) they are on different reservations; The difference with children under 17 is that you will be asked to link their reservations to an adult and all the linked reservations will be checked in together. So you will want to make yours first, then go into each account and make theirs, at that time the system will ask if traveling with someone over 18 and if so provide the reservation information and it will link them. This does make it more difficult to make any changes using the app because you either have to cancel the one to remove the link or just call customer service and they will change all that are linked together. For adults, they don't provide that ability to link them. This is something i keep asking SW to improve on, is a way to book different type of fares together so that my traveling partners can take advantage of checking in with my early A status check in. Another option is to transfer points to one account, but there is a charge for this and it is pretty expensive.

I think the way Southwest boards families is very fair. They board between the A and B groups, there are typically plenty of seats together then. It sounds like your children may have been slightly older than the policy guidelines but did you ask the gate agent if you could go ahead and board as a family given her needs? I would guess they would have allowed it. Other alternatives to try to get earlier boarding are to purchase early check-in prior to the check-in process (more than 24 hours in advance) or purchase upgraded boarding (A-1 -15).

It makes sense that qualify for 2024 companion pass because you can still qualify for 2024 during 2024. If you do not currently have a CP then these count toward earning it for the remainder of the year. From what I am finding is these types of promotions do not give points until sometime after the end of the promotion period. I received points for this specific one just this week so they seem to be taking close to 8 weeks to process the points.

Just wanted to come back and confirm that I did purchase the extra points for $40 and received an extra 2000 pts on top of the 2000 pts for booking the hotel and all 4000 pts counted toward companion fare qualifications but not toward A status. The hotel price was the same that I could have booked through the Bonvoy app. If in need of companion fare qualification points, or even just a few more miles for a flight, this seems like a reasonable option. For example I took a flight that cost me $67 (inclusive of tax) and only received 320 companion fare qualifying points and 640 regular miles (I am a A Preferred) and 2000 points would have cost $60 to purchase from SW direct. I don't really need the extra points but want to make sure I earn my 2025 companion fare so may do this from time to time if needed.

Typically you earn it after the close of the statement that you reached the 4K on. So if your statement closes on 2/29 and you had 4K of qualified purchases that month, then typically you would get companion pass a few days after your statement has closed. You can book your May flight and once earned add a companion later.
