Unfortunately EarlBird check in isn't refundable unless SW cancels the flight;
This is from their website:
EarlyBird Check-In purchases are non-refundable. Customers who cancel their flight will forfeit the previously purchased EarlyBird Check-In option for that particular flight.
In the event that a flight is canceled by Southwest, we recognize that the decision was not within the Customer's control and will process a refund of the EarlyBird Check-In purchase on Wanna Get Away and Wanna Get Away Plus fares for that particular flight in the Customer's itinerary. The purchaser's credit card will be refunded within seven business days. If you do not receive the EarlyBird Check-In refund in this time frame, then please contact us for further assistance.

Was the time on your flight adjusted after you purchased it and you are eligible for a free itinerary change? If that was the case when you go to change it it will not give a reduce price you have to cancel and rebook to get the lower price; however since your screen shot actually shows a negative amount I am guessing this is not the situation because it would show zero amount;

They say to allow up to 8 weeks to post; The last couple of promotions for me didn't get posted until very close to the 8 week mark; Also, on this specific promotion I think that I personally got confused on the terms, but not sure if that is the case for you. I initially thought it was for any purchases but as I read the details, I think it is only for southwest purchases.

As mentioned in other posts you can add the companion now but it does make it a few more clicks if you have to change or cancel your flight because you have to cancel the companion reservation first, make your change, then add the back on the reservation; However, I do think the complication is worth it because if you are on popular flights you will only be able to add a companion if there is a seat on the plane. If you wait and the flight sells out you will not be able to add the companion. If you add it right away, your companions seat is secure. For this reason I always add the companion right away.

Sorry this was confusing, I have learned some tricks that are helpful to track your status. 1st the terms are listed in this community board; see the new changes for 2024 they have lowered the number of flights to get A list and also decrease the number of CC points needed to earn the 1500 bonus toward A status; you can also check your progress toward A list as well as companion pass in your RR account under your account; you can also look at your points activity and filter it by type such as companion fare or A list and see what was applied; I have just noticed that some flight bonus points don’t count toward CP or A list either and they have added that information when I look at the points for a flight it will say how much also goes toward CP and A and it is quite a bit less

If you are redeeming points from different accounts, I believe they would all have to be different reservations. If all the points are in one account they could be on the same reservation; Anytime you have to use different payment methods or fare types (dollars for one person, points for another; IWG+ for one person IWG for another) they are on different reservations; The difference with children under 17 is that you will be asked to link their reservations to an adult and all the linked reservations will be checked in together. So you will want to make yours first, then go into each account and make theirs, at that time the system will ask if traveling with someone over 18 and if so provide the reservation information and it will link them. This does make it more difficult to make any changes using the app because you either have to cancel the one to remove the link or just call customer service and they will change all that are linked together. For adults, they don't provide that ability to link them. This is something i keep asking SW to improve on, is a way to book different type of fares together so that my traveling partners can take advantage of checking in with my early A status check in. Another option is to transfer points to one account, but there is a charge for this and it is pretty expensive.

I think the way Southwest boards families is very fair. They board between the A and B groups, there are typically plenty of seats together then. It sounds like your children may have been slightly older than the policy guidelines but did you ask the gate agent if you could go ahead and board as a family given her needs? I would guess they would have allowed it. Other alternatives to try to get earlier boarding are to purchase early check-in prior to the check-in process (more than 24 hours in advance) or purchase upgraded boarding (A-1 -15).

It makes sense that qualify for 2024 companion pass because you can still qualify for 2024 during 2024. If you do not currently have a CP then these count toward earning it for the remainder of the year. From what I am finding is these types of promotions do not give points until sometime after the end of the promotion period. I received points for this specific one just this week so they seem to be taking close to 8 weeks to process the points.

Just wanted to come back and confirm that I did purchase the extra points for $40 and received an extra 2000 pts on top of the 2000 pts for booking the hotel and all 4000 pts counted toward companion fare qualifications but not toward A status. The hotel price was the same that I could have booked through the Bonvoy app. If in need of companion fare qualification points, or even just a few more miles for a flight, this seems like a reasonable option. For example I took a flight that cost me $67 (inclusive of tax) and only received 320 companion fare qualifying points and 640 regular miles (I am a A Preferred) and 2000 points would have cost $60 to purchase from SW direct. I don't really need the extra points but want to make sure I earn my 2025 companion fare so may do this from time to time if needed.

Typically you earn it after the close of the statement that you reached the 4K on. So if your statement closes on 2/29 and you had 4K of qualified purchases that month, then typically you would get companion pass a few days after your statement has closed. You can book your May flight and once earned add a companion later.

I have not received my bonus points that ended 12/31/23; I started tracking them on a spreadsheet with the 8 week date to follow if I get them. The date for the Dec-23 is Feb 25 so I will see if I get them in the next couple of days, but they seem to be coming much later than prior bonuses which seemed to have come in about 4 weeks not 8

I frequently have issues with wifi and it is getting hard to determine if I will be able to work on my flights. It had been getting better the last couple of months and I also experienced issues connecting with my laptop and phone; I contact SW through twitter and they forwarded the issue to the appropriated IT people and got back to me asap; They did say there were issues going on with the log on and would be working on it; It wasn't resolved with that flight but was resolved on my next flight the following day and sw twitter did a good job of keeping me updated. Hopefully the improvements continue, but I also don't have confidence if it is available flight by flight; I always wonder what happens to those who pay for it, i would never have the confidence in their wifi to pay for it, fortunately I get it free with A preferred

If they count toward companion fare status they can be worth more to someone. I don’t believe just buying miles counts toward earning companion fare

$40 for 4000 probably wasn't the actual amount, I just couldn't remember. The amount of bonus points seems to be equal to the amount you are getting and then the price varies based on how many; I just booked one where I will receive 2000 points and the offer was an additional 2000 points for $40. I had not really paid much attention but do recall seeing one for 4000 points but don't remember how much it was for. I will look closer now.

If you have the name you can go to the "view points" activity and search to find the confirmation number that used those points; If they have not take the trip, you can go to manage flight and with the name and confirmation number you can cancel the flight and get your points back.

I check frequently for promotions that they will have on your RR account. I am not sure, but I also think that the different credit cards receive different offers. I started getting better offers when I upgraded to the priority card than my husband who had not upgraded. I also suspect the offers may be geared toward your spending habits as our offers are slightly different even now that he has upgraded to priority.

I have recently been booking hotels through the Southwest website to get the extra points toward companion fare qualifications; I have just noticed that at the bottom of the booking page there is the offer to pay a little more and received extra miles and a special phone number to use, I suppose if there are issues with the hotel. For example if book a hotel for 4000 points, can pay another $40 and get 4000 more points; Does anyone know if these points also count toward the companion fare? I know the first 4000 do but what about the extra?

Is this drop down list a list of Airports you can change to w/o a fee? SW has frequently changed my flight times out of RNO to flights no one would ever book (8-9 hour flights to PDX) but would not let me change to the next closest airport (Sac) for no fee. They only gave me the option to cancel. I have suggested that they provide the ability to change to airport groups (like OAK/SJC/SMF or So Cal ones) but didn't realize they were doing it in some cases.

You can also purchase early bird check in, it doesn't guarantee that you will get A seats but will automatically check you in 36 hours early vs 24 hours giving you a better chance. However, if you are flying at a busy time such as spring break it may not be any better than after A group and it isn't refundable if you change your flight.

Definitely go in and cancel the flights book with the points, or Southwest will cancel one of the flights for you and you don't know which one. One time I forgot the cancel and it left the companion reservations "hanging" on my original reservation and I am sure that is going to cause me issues in a couple of months when I go to change who my companion is. I would add the companion first to make sure there is a seat, but make sure to cancel the other one the same day.

I think a good rule is if you need assistance to pre-board, then you should be the last to get off which would allow you the needed assistance when exiting the plane as well. It would also cause pause to those that don't.

I don't believe you can do a same day change at a different airport; This is something I have begged SW customer service for, post it to their twitter account; The other issue I have had is that they frequently change the time of the flights after I book them and they rebook you on flights that don't work. They still won't let you change to another close airport even though they are the ones that made the change; I had them rebook me on a flight that would take over 8 hours vs letting me change to a different airport that I could drive 2 hrs to and take a direct 1 hour flight; They said I could cancel my flight and of course by that time, the prices of the other flight were much higher.

I had this happen to me this summer; Even though we were both A-List, there were no seats left on the plane to be able to cancel the companion, change and rebook; They would not let me get on standby until at the airport and by then everyone who could do it through their mobile app in the morning was on the list; To me, this is a huge disservice to A-List when they allow people to get on standby on the app, but others not until they get to the gate; They did not prioritize A or A-preferred on standby either.

I just went though this with SW; You have to find the registration confirmation (if there is one) in your email; The points are posted up to 8 weeks after the date of the promotion ends; If ending in 12/31 then have to end of Feb to post; I went back through all of mine and double checked the dates and added to a spreadsheet; I had some from earlier in the year and they all posted between 4 - 8 weeks after the promotion; You do have to look in the Other category, then by what type of qualified, the tiered or the companion; It looked to me like there was a 0 on the same dates on the all category that the companion pass or TQP posted where you didn't actually get additional travel points, just qualifying points; I am waiting for my points for the promotions that ended in Dec to hit and will be tracking.

I pulled this directly from SW website:
Tier Qualifying Points For Business Cards: Tier qualifying points (TQPs) are earned from revenue flights booked through Southwest Airlines® or when you, or an employee, use the eligible Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card from Chase to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. (You'll earn 1,500 for each $5,000 in purchases annually. "Annually" means the year beginning with your account open date through the first December statement date of that same year, and each 12 billing cycles starting after your December statement date through the following December statement date.) TQPs earned during a billing cycle on a eligible Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card from Chase are not available for qualification for benefits such as A-List and A-List Preferred status until they are posted to your Rapid Rewards® account. The following will not count toward qualification for A-List or A-List Preferred status: Rapid Rewards program enrollment points; Rapid Rewards reward flights; Rapid Rewards Companion Pass® travel; Rapid Rewards partner points except for TQPs earned on the eligible Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card from Chase; Rapid Rewards bonus points, unless specifically designated as such; non-revenue travel, unless specifically designated as eligible; stops at intermediate cities on connecting or through flights; and charter flights. TQPs are not redeemable for travel on Southwest® or through the "More Rewards" site. Eligible credit cards: Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card, or Southwest Rapid Rewards® Performance Business Credit Card.

I did reach out to SW on promotions I registered for. I could not find the specific details on the website but she directed me to my emails where I did have verification of the timeframes and the promotions; All promotions said they post within 8 weeks of the end of the promotion (not when qualified) so they aren't due to post to account for a couple weeks still. I found the ones from 2023 and they did post to my account, about 4-8 weeks after the promotion ended.

I have been waiting for several promotions to post from both mine and my husbands credit cards. I have registered for several and didn't track exactly the timeframes, but know that I met the requirements and they have not been posted. I started to get suspicious and now find others are impacted. I believe that I am still within their 8 week stated timeframe so I have not pursued it with SW yet, but I don't have a good feeling about it so started looking to see if others are having issues. What I don't like is that I cannot find a place to show which I have registered for since they disappear from your account when the promotion time from is over. Does anyone know where those can be found? I started to track them in a spreadsheet. In the past I have never had issues with the points being posted right away.
