It took me a bit to get used to the new website but it allows for faster toggle between city pairs, as well as looking at price differences without having to go back. It also reordered some of the displays so the prices are higher left--right. Some getting used to but I think its more efficient

@kendrick If you have some flexibility in your travel dates, check out the low fare calendar for dates that have lower fares. It lets you look at the lowest fare between two cities each day one month at a time. https://www.southwest.com/air/low-fare-calendar/index.html --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? As there is a travel advisory in effect for Thursday through Saturday, if you are scheduled/ticketed to fly in that date range you can reschedule your flight to anything within 14 days of your scheduled flight, including earlier. So if you want to leave as soon as possible give Southwest a call to rebook. I'm not sure if someone else has brought this up, if they have then let me second it, if they haven't then let me offer an alternate POV: I'm a disabled veteran with a cane and I'm flying Southwest for the first time in my whole life BECAUSE of their preboarding policy, and I'm willing to bet a lot of others are too. Now my cane is folding, and honestly I might fold up my cane and put it in my purse beffore I board because I don't want to inconvience people once on board. That said I still need to hold onto seats (something that's hard to do when dozens of others are getting seated) or keep a hand on the wall as I walk onto the plane, I might even need to stop because my knee locked up as it so often does and I don't want someone to run into me because I came to a sudden stop if/when that happens. Now chances are I'm probably won't fold up my cane because threads like this are a constant reminder that society expects my 32 year old self to LOOK disabled. Society glares at me when I pass them on the sidewalk with my cane on my good days and society watches me on the days when I'm barely hobbling along and wonders if I'm faking on my bad ones. When I mention that I'm former military everyone just goes "OHHHH You got injured" Well... No actually I just have a bad hip (and because of that a bad leg) and the military isn't exactly kind to any weakness in our bodies. The military (no matter what happened to you) basically fast forwards your body's wearing down far faster than your average civilian job, and mine was probably originally meant to start having issues at 40-something. I LOVE that Southwest isn't forcing me to pay even more than I already do for being disabled. I've already paid years of my life, my health, my marriage, and who I was as a person just to end up a disabled wreck who couldn't even function in society for the first teo years that I was out. Do some people abuse the system? Of course they do, someone ALWAYS abuses every system out there. But Southwest has chosen not to punish the rest of us as a result and I applaud them for that. You are not Southwest, and you are not judge jury and executioner of anyone who may or may not have a disability. Maybe you luck out and the person you call out as a fake is actually a fake and is embarassed enough to never try to scam the system again. But in my experience that never happens. If you actually do catch a scammer they'll likely just continue to keep up the act and you'll end up tossed out of the airport by secuity for harrassing the 'disabled' person cause scammers will use the system to their advantage here. If you catch someone with a legitimate disability then you're making their already difficult life that much worse. In my case I'd probably have a panic attack and shut down if you actually confronted me in public cause I also have severe anxiety and moderate PTSD. You basically need to ask yourself it that risk is worth it for you. Are you okay with adding additional suffering to someone who might already suffer more than you can possibly imagine on a daily basis? The thing to remember is that the preboarding is as much for your benefit as it is for those who are disabled. It keeps us out of your way with our gimpy selves while you all rush for your prefered seats. In fact most disabled people I know who fly Southwest actually don't even go for the better seats, they just go for anywhere that allows them to sit with their companion who may need to assist them. And if we do board alongside you we possibly can do things like lifting up luggage or walk without aid and we'll get them done to keep from holding you up, but often we're internally screaming in pain during or after doing those things. It's said over and over again but you can't possibly know everything a person is dealing with in their life. I'd rather let a few scammers slide than chance hurting those who are already hurting and don't deserve it.

Hi all,
Apologies for the confusing situation. Here's some info to help clear it up.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Dominican Republic officially released the bulletin regarding the tourism fee effective for tickets issued on/after April 13 and for travel on/after April 25. Prior to the official bulletin, the fee was collected from the passenger at the airport upon arrival in DR. As of April 25, Southwest began collecting the fee in the price of the ticket.

For anyone seeking more info, there are quite a few forums online dedicated to "manufactured spending," which offer news of specific offers, and discuss the advantages -- and also the risks -- involved. When it comes to Southwest specifically, keep in mind that using a Southwest gift card comes with some limitations worth considering. Never use one to buy a "refundable" fare, since you can't get a refund to a gift card (even if within the first 24 hours on a WGA fare) -- all "refunds" become travel funds. Also, gift cards themselves are non-refundable, can't be replaced if lost or stolen, it's impossible to combine gift card amounts together, and the Southwest payment system limits gift cards to a maximum of three per passenger on each reservation, or two if you need to also apply a credit card. If you're able to reduce the "cost" of a Southwest gift card through manufactured spending they can be worth using, but only if the limitations won't affect you. Otherwise, I generally do not recommend using them. Here are the full terms and conditions.

We can handle a Companion Pass name change for you pretty quickly via Twitter. If you'll reach out to us at @SouthwestAir, a Customer Relations Representative will verify your information via private message and provide assistance. Typically we can do it on the same day.

Previous threads have indicated Southwest will change the name if you provide documentation and have some time to wait for the change to happen. I'm curious where you heard you had to buy a new ticket and what problems, besides long hold times, you're having with customer service. As @CareforNOLA mentions you'll probably be able to fly without a change, but it can be an exercise in patience with TSA. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? Assuming you booked a Wanna Getaway fare you receive the difference in fare as a travel fund that can be applied towards future travel. When booking a future flight you can apply travel funds if you have the confirmation number of the flight you changed and the name of the passenger is the same on the new flight as the flight you changed. Travel on the new flight must be completed within one year of purchase of the original flight that you changed. If you booked a different fare type you will see a refund to the original form of payment. You can view travel fund value and expiration dates here: https://www.southwest.com/flight/travel-funds-search.html --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? @bandld wrote: I never received a mobile boarding pass option from following my original confirmation email check-in link. I have tried for two days to get one. Though I have tried the email again and again, the new app over and over, and the full website all morning, there is no option for me to get one, only the link to the instruction page (which is useless.) I'm being run around in circles. I'm now at the airport and have talked to 5 different employees who have no clue. I have tried the 1-800 southwest numbers but the wait time for a call back is 70+ minutes. This is not the first time southwest has not given me any boarding pass options. Going to the print page on the full website only gives me a watermarked physically printed copy. Did you know that if you save that image all you get is the water mark? Emailing myself the reservation again still gives me the same check-in link without any boarding pass options. The app is also devoid of boarding pass options and only has the same useless help link. I am really frustrated. I've wasted 6 hours of my life. The other forum topics talk about not being able to get mobile boarding passes for "single passengers", "traveling families", "two names on one reservation", etc. That is every type of passenger! No other airline we've traveled in the past 5 years has this problem. If you are at the airport - and your flight is today - then you should go to a kiosk and print a paper copy so that you don't spend any more time on the mobile pass. If your flight isn't today, then you may not be able to get a boarding pass yet - they are only available 24 hours prior to your flight.

If you purchased a Wanna Get Away fare you can cancel your flight and you can apply the credit to a future flight as long as it's the same passenger name and the new flight is completed within one year of the original purchase date. Be sure to save the confirmation number of the flight you are canceling, you'll need that to apply the credit towards future flight. Other fare types can be canceled and will usually be refunded back to the original form of payment, subject to various criteria. If you need more information info please post more details. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? No, the confirmation number should not be necessary to get an escort pass. If the person requesting the pass has the passenger name and knows what flight the passenger is on that should be enough. Are you handling check-in for the return flight (if there is one)? In theory, someone could cancel the flight if they have the information needed to check-in (confirmation number or RR account login information). Or, you could purchase EarlyBird Check-In so you don't have to worry about it. --TheMiddleSeat

@sandrajohnson wrote: purchased early bird, how do I check in and when and where can the bording pass be printed? You will be automatically checked-in at T-36 hours. However, you still have to wait until 24 hours or less prior to the flight to "retrieve" your boarding pass. You can do it anytime between 24 hours and up until you arrive at the airport and need it for security, prior to the scheduled departure. Clarification: you can download on your PC and print at home, download to phone, have it texted to you in a link, or print at the airport when you arrive.

Do you have Travel Funds or a Voucher? Travel Funds are the result of a cancelled or changed itinerary. They are held under the original confirmation number. They expire one year from the original purchase date, and are valid towards airfare, taxes and fees for the original passenger(s) only. When you apply these to a new booking, that booking takes on the oldest expiration date of any funds used. Once expired, travel funds may be reissued (as a Voucher) for a fee of $100 per ticket. The fee is deducted from the travel funds balance, meaning that it's only worth requesting this exception when the funds balance is greater than $100. Vouchers are given by Customer Relations for things like delays or baggage issues, or when travel funds are reissued for a fee after expiration. They are valid for air fare only (no taxes or fees) but can be used by anyone. They generally expire one year (or six months in the case of reissued travel funds) from the date of issue. Vouchers are generally not reissued once expired. However, depending on why/how you received the voucher initially (for example, if it was because of a customer service issue) Southwest may reissue it, and if so, there is no fee. To request, you'll need to reach out to Customer Relations -- my recomendation is via Twitter direct message.

I agree with @TheMiddleSeat I would get an escort pass for the 1st time and walk your kid though everything and avoid the headphones until the plane ride. I would recommend having your teen check the boards more than once just in case there is a gate change and you didn't hear the announcement or if there wasn't one that way they don't miss the flight on my first flight as a teen my mom got a gate pass we showed up 2.5 hours early just so I could see how to check in go though security (at that time I didn't need an ID since I was under 18) and showed me around the airport a bit so I would know where to go and my mom pulled up airport maps for my connecting city to show me where I may land and where I may have to walk to and told me to not stress and to pay attention in the airports as gates can change and you don't want to miss your flight because your busy playing a game or listening to music and I had plenty of time (3 hour layover) that way I should be fine in case of a delay which I was fine. Then my dad got a gate pass to meet me when I arrived at my final destination so he could show me baggage claim and what to do if my bag was messed up or didn't show up so I don't freak out should that ever happen when I got older. I enjoyed it and now I travel all the time. If your teen has any questions while traveling they can ask anyone at the airport or if they have questions before flying feel free to post those questions here and we can help answer them. feel free to post how it went once the trip is complete Blake

While a car seat is not required it's not a bad idea for safety. Several of the frequent posters on here, including myself, recommend the harness available at http://kidsflysafe.com/ as an alternative to the car seat. They are small, easy to travel with, and easy to use. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question?
