Hello to see what unused funds you have you would need the confirmation number and you go to https://www.southwest.com/flight/travel-funds-search.html if you dont have have the confirmation number you can call southwest at 800-435-9792 and and they can search by credit card so if you know which card you used to pay for those tickets they should be able to pull up the funds. hope this helps Blake

@LadyRai14 I would recommend editing your post to remove your confirmation number as that might be considered personal info and I wouldn't want anything to happen to your funds.

Hello Glad to see that they were nice and helpful to you during the delay and that you made it on a flight and was able to get some rest you could send southwest a message on Facebook or Twitter with your confirmation number and the compliment and they can pass on your kudos to all those great southwest employees or you could write your comments in an email on the southwest website Thanks for sharing! Getting a voucher for a travel fund that was not used isn't guaranteed and is on a case by case basis and you will lose $100 of the travel fund if they do issue you the voucher as @chgoflyer stated if they do issue you a LUV voucher it usually arrives by email within 10 days but usually arrives much faster such as 24-72 hours from my experience of getting a LUV voucher. Once you get the voucher it can be used right away you will have 6 months from what I have heard from the date of issue to use and travel by from the date of issue hope this helps Blake

I would create a rapid rewards account for everyone so they can earn points on paid tickets of course the companion won't earn credit since it's a free ticket but if they travel alone they can earn points. You don't need a rapid rewards account to view her reservation though when it comes to the companion pass as you can view it with the confirmation number. When you get the companion pass you and the companion will always be on separate confirmation numbers so having a rapid rewards account for her will make it much easier for her to view the reservation and will make it easier for check in purposes since you won't have to dig in your email for the confirmation number since it would be right in the account. Hope this helps Blake

@roburg I have not personally had the issue with tickets not opening up where I can't book and I waited until I got to the airport. I do know from what I have been told by several phone reps that at the airport they do have more tools and maybe they could oversell the flight and cancel the 2 paid seats to even it out since it really wouldn't end up being over sold if the system lets them or maybe they could say hold 2 seats for weight or a reason they put on there and then you cancel and they release the seats. I know that may sound a little confusing but I know airports can do a lot more than phone agents with somethings one example being if your flight is delayed more than 15min the airport can waive the difference in fare of moving to a different flight while on the phone the delay has to be an hour or longer for them to not charge you. If your near the airport and have time maybe stop in as they could still help you evernif your not flying that day or just call the reservations line and see what they suggest now for seats opening up I do see at times they will open up at check in time as people know if they can or can't go and if they can't they cancel. I would also check every day a couple times a day as inventory changes all the time. On another note if you wanted me to watch for a seat or 2 to open up I could if you told me the flight (like LAX to HOU flight number 4) and date and I could let you know here if I notice a seat open up just an idea since i wouldn't need any of your personal info to do that. hope this helps and I hope the seat opens up for you Blake

Hello i would recommend booking all of your tickets now and book the person you will make the companion on a separate reservation as it will make it easier later when it comes time to cancel the paid ticket and change to a companion ticket. why book all now you may ask? Because if you only book 3 tickets and you get the companion pass the flight could be sold out then you would have no ticket for the 4th person so at least by booking the 4th person they have a seat. I made this mistake and had to move to a more expensive flight so my companion could fly free. another note I would check back after booking like every few days or every week just in case the price goes down on the ticket so you can get the points back in to your account or a credit for a future flight if booked as a paid reservation rather than points booking one way flights or round trip? I always book one ways just in case I need to cancel one leg or change I find it easier as one ways and on paid tickets I get my points after the one way is complete rather than waiting for the round trip to be completed so I can book more points tickets if needed without waiting for a current round trip in progress to be complete. Also another reason I book one way flights is because of the no show policy let's say I made my flight but for some reason I get marked a no show I wouldn't know until after I get off the plane and by then my return would be canceled or if I miss my outbound flight I wouldn't want to lose my return because of the no show policy. If you have any other questions about the companion pass just let me know and I would be glad to help! hope this helps Blake

Hello Sorry you got a B boarding pass as an A List preferred member if you book your flight less than 36 hours out and especially less than 24 hours out the As may be gone and you could very well get a B or C boarding pass because they can't unassign someone else's boarding pass to give you the better A boarding pass. Also if you take advantage of the same day standby you have a very high probability of a B or C boarding pass but if you are cleared before boarding you can take advantage of one of the following options. You do have a couple of options though if you don't want the B boarding pass 1. Board between the A and B groups 2. Spend the $30-$50 upgraded boarding fee if available on your flight to get A1-15 i am A List preferred as well and I hate it when I don't get A boarding when I book less than 36 hours out but it happens luckily you should still be able to get a good seat by boarding between A and B groups happy travels Blake

@robertv610 I do believe they will still have you show your passport when boarding in Houston but I am not for sure on that I have seen international flights depart from Houston and Atlanta and see everyone showing there passports as they are boarding even if they came from somewhere else before Atlanta or Houston hope this helps Blake

Hello I fly though Houston a lot and when you get to Houston you will not have to go through security again to get to the international gates. The international gates are gates are 1-5 and they are a little walk from the rest of the gates most other flights come in to the 20s or 40s gates if you arrive in the upper 40s or gate 50-51 it will be a hike you should be able to make your connection though no problem as long as the first flight is ontime. Southwest usually tries to put close connections near each other so hopefully they will land your first flight in the international gates or low 20s or low 40s so your walk isn't as far of course we have no control of where they put your inbound flight but you should have no issues with a 50min connection as some connections are 35min and your connection is a little longer just be ready to walk and sit at the front of the plane on your first flight. feel free to let me know how it goes! hope this helps Blake

Hello i would call the reservations line at 800-435-9792 and for the 2 people you want to make companions make them companions then tell the agent you want to only cancel the 2 non companions that way you don't lose the fare for the other 2 non companion kids and explain you want the companions booked with the tickets they have like swapping from a paid ticket to companion ticket if the tickets go back in to inventory they should be able to grab those seats as soon as it is canceled that way someone else doesn't book it. Since southwest does not overbook flights anymore after the United airlines incident the tickets should go back in to inventory unless they put some weight or flight restriction on that particular flight. This option would be risky for a sold out flight but they should be able to do it If you don't want to take the risk of seats not going back into inventory Another way to go about it is to watch and see if 1 or 2 seats become available on the flight at a later date since people cancel all the time and then make the change if you go this route I would go ahead and assign the companions now if you haven't already as that will save you time and you can then just book the companion on the website and pay the security fee then cancel the paid reservation for the 2 companion kids you would have to do that by phone though. If only 1 seat is available call and ask them to split one companion off on a separate reservation book that companion ticket and then cancel there paid ticket after doing that you can tell if the one ticket went back in to inventory if it did then you can book the other companion then cancel that paid ticket. That's a trick I learned when I had the same issue and didn't want to take inventory risk. the third way you could do it if you don't want to take to take the risk of inventory is show up to the airport early and tell them you would like to change the 2 companions from a paid ticket to companion tickets they should be able to do it no problem as long as the companion ticket is booked more than 1 hour before the flight. if you have any questions please feel free to let me know as I know this is a lot of information and I would be glad to help if any of this doesn't make sense happy travels Blake

Hello Sorry to hear about your crushed bag I would try calling customer relations at 855-234-4654 and maybe they might be able to help some but because it has been more than the 4 hours I don't think they will be able to do anything in the form of replacing the bag and messed up contents sorry to be the bear of bad news on that but they might be able to issue you a goodwill luv voucher but that's not a guarantee since it has been more than the 4 hours but worth a shot to call and I would do that sooner rather than later and they might still be able to take a damaged bag report but I am not for sure on that. Just a tip for the future check out your bag when you get it at baggage claim just to be sure nothing is broken and if you notice writing like that on the bag tag check it out fully because it is way easier to handle any potential damaged bag situations at the airport than after leaving the airport. hopefully your bag is not damaged again in the future. Hope this helps Blake

Hello checking in again will not hurt your boarding position if you haven't made any changes to your flight when checking in online it says check in all the time even if you checked in already its weird but it won't hurt your boarding position. You could check in 100 times if you wanted and your boarding position would be the same every time. if you print the pass at home fold it in half as it is easier for the gate agent to scan. You could also use mobile boarding pass if you are on the reservation alone if you don't want to check in again on the website hope this helps blake

Hi so unfortunately once a flight is booked all funds are in your name for you to use so if you cancel the flight you were booked on the funds are held for you to use on a flight that you are the ticketed passenger if the new flight you book is less than your credit you will keep the remains fumfs still in your name you can't use it on others on the same reservation in other words you are not able to use the funds on a friends ticket only you can use the funds. If you booked a anytime or business select fare it could be refunded to your original form of payment which then you could book a ticket for them as it would not be a travel fund it would be a new credit card transaction. hope this helps Blake

Prohibition of Multiple/Conflicting Reservations: To promote seat availability for our Customers, Southwest prohibits multiple reservations for the same Passenger departing from the same city on the same date, or any multiple reservations containing conflicting or overlapping itineraries (such as departures for the same Customer from multiple cities at the same time). Furthermore, without advance notice to the Passenger or purchaser, Southwest may cancel such reservations, or any other reservations that it believes, in its sole discretion, were made without intent to travel. With the exception of Southwest gift cards, funds from proactively cancelled reservations by Southwest will be returned to the original form of payment. Reservations paid for with a Southwest gift card will have the amount applied from the gift card held as travel funds for use by the Customer on a future Southwest Airlines flight. So you can't have 2 reservations from the same city on the same date Hope this helps blake

You can change your flight and pay the difference in fare I would make the change online though as it may be cheaper than the airport upgrading you to the anytime fare as sometimes a wanna get away fare is available. If you booked a anytime or business select fare you should be able to just change it no problem if seats are available if the flights are sold out you could fly standby and then pay the difference in fare hope this helps Blake

In this case you wouldn't need to cancel anyone you would just call southwest at 800-435-9792 and state that you would like to split 2 people off and then change to the cheaper ticket. Keep watching though as the other 3 could go down later but once a reservstion is split you will need to check in both confirmation numbers instead of the one and you can't re join all the people on to one reservation after splitting unless you cancel and re book which I don't recommend as the flight rates may not stay the same. hope this helps blake

Sorry to hear you got a B boarding pass with the EB check in. The boarding positions vary by flight based on the number of A List members and the number of others who bought EB check in before you. I have seen some flights with 50 A Listers (I had B5 as an A Lister before). Also there is no limit to the number of EB check ins per flight so you could be the 30th person to buy it which means you would be the 30th person behind A Listers and Business select people if you want to discuss with customer relations you can call them at 855-234-4654 or email them from the southwest website hope this helps and hope you will give southwest another try in the future Blake

The best way to handle this would be to book flights as one way reservations that way you can change or cancel a leg without issue and you can be checked in for the outbound and return if it is a same day reservation. If you don't want to book 2 one way reservations I would recommend buying the EB check in for the return so you will be checked in even though you can't get the boarding pass I have not had the issue of not being able to check in for 2 different days flights only if I had the outbound and return on the same day but I learned to either book one ways or the EB hope this answers your question blake

when you check in a multiple passenger reservation it will check everyone in. You won't be able to use mobile boarding passes though as that is not a feature yet but you can get the boarding passes at the kiosk when you get to the airport but still check in at the 24 hour mark to get your boarding position otherwise you will end up in the C group most likely if you wait to check in at the airport hope this helps Blake

Your boarding position should not change if your flight is not changing. I believe even if you change your flight you might still get the same spot based on when EB check in was purchased of course it would change a bit based on when others on the new flight bought EB check in. I would still change to the lower fare because having a credit for a future flight is always nice and it doesn't cost you anything to change to the cheaper flight. just don't cancel the flight or you will lose the EB check in and it is non refundable you can change the flight as many times as you want though and EB will stay attached hope this helps!
