On "refundable tickets," be aware of a recent change that can effectively make refundable = non-refundable. In an astonishing policy change, if you make any changes to a "refundable" ticket itinerary, you'll lose the ability to cancel for refund at any later point. Any itinerary change will force that ticket to become non-refundable, generating only travel funds upon cancellation, with the same restrictions and expiration as a WGA fare. Going forward, never change any itinerary that includes a "refundable" fare -- always cancel that itinerary and request a refund, then rebook the new itinerary. Yes, this means that your money will be tied up by Southwest until the refund is issued (sometimes many weeks later) but that's the only way to ensure you won't lose refundability. This is a hugely negative change, stealthly made without much notice, and will likely trap many unsuspecting customers. 😞

So I have done the same kind of thing before where I book 2 separate one ways but in my experience they told me I would have to claim by baggage and re check it because the agent in the original departure airport does not see my other flights only the flights on the reservation to/from that airport. For example i did AUS to HOU. Then HOU to MCO. The agent said all they see is the flight to HOU. So I had to re check in when I got to Houston also it's important to note when making a point to point reservation you *may* not be covered if your 1st flight is delayed to missing your next flight because it is booked seperatly. And to them you would be a no show on the 2nd flight. If you booked your 2 flights on the same confirmation number then they should be able to check it to the final destination and you would not be a no show should a big delay occur If you have any questions let me know and also if they check your bag all the way let me know also because then maybe I just had an agent that wouldn't do it hope this helps Blake

Typically, we are not able to extend these passes, but they are transferrable, so you can certainly let someone else take advantage of the travel opportunity. On all our tickets, as you mentioned, travel must be completed (not just scheduled) by the expiration date.

You are absolutely right on!!!!! I have just started flying Southwest, and I can't believe the number of passengers who have figured out how to SCAM the system......We tried five times to sit in two seats being saved by the pre-boarded ($15) passengers!!! I can't imagine how much $$$$$ Southwest is losing. Before long everyone is going to figure this out and all "B" rows will be in the back of the plane and noone will be able to sit with their spouses, children etc. What a shame.....Southwest has a great airline.....and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, but think this has to be rectified.

Hi In my 18 years with Rapid Rewards the prices are like the stock market and the go up and down and then back up again. You never know what the lowest price is going to be. I have changed some tickets as much as 5 times.....I have noticed that when the flights first come out that they are higher in price than if you waited. I have even seen the price go down after a sale ends....... Good Luck!!!

Hi there! One suggestion would be to take a day trip to somewhere close by like a DAL to HOU or AUS if you lived there like to/from a hub for the cheapest. The best way to find the cheapest dates and places is exploring the low fare calendar on southwest.com I did a Round Trip in a day from AUS to ATL for $60 each way back last month. Good Luck! Blake

Yes! all you need to do is go to southwest.com and click the change reservation link. Then you would enter your information and select the new date. All you will be required to pay is any difference in fare. If the new flight is cheaper then you would have a credit for future use and pay NO change fees. you can also call customer service at 800-435-9792 and they would be glad to assist with making the change as well Happy Travels! Thanks Blake. I did a little side by side comparison when I realized I could filter my activity listing by type of points. When only viewing Tier qualifying points, I saw that a number of flights had only half the points from the full list. Then I realized they were double points promotions, and sure enough, the fine print says the bonus points don't count towards A-list. Mystery solved!

Good story. My youngest (4) is also obsessed. He has travelled on about 5 trips, all via Southwest. This year, he finally flew on the new Heart livery. There we were in PHX Sky Harbor and he is jumping up and down at 9:30 PM telling everyone the plane has "letters on the side."

At this time I am not aware of any way to link your account with your family's accounts I wish they had a feature like that but maybe in the future they will have that option. I also wish they had a wallet for compensation for example if you got 2 $100 vouchers I wish we could just see them in our account like delta has it set up but I know that an agent I talked to at corporate said they are working on adding a travel wallet at some point in time (no time frame currently). i would suggest you could copy and paste your kids Rapid rewards number as that is easiest at this point. As long as you buy early bird 36 hours in advance you will be good. I have bought the early bird 38 hours in advance and still received an A boarding pass as not everyone buys early bird so you should be fine. You might get a low B but my guess is a low B if not a high A. Happy Travels Blake

In order to receive credit for the flight you must fly the reservation also if you book a flight and miss it and don't cancel it within 10min prior to scheduled departure your reservation is subject to the no show policy which means all funds accociated with the confirmation with the missed flight will be forfeited if you feel you you will miss your flight you will want to cancel or call and see if anyone can help you over the phone happy Travels Blake

Hello Even though you earned the companion pass in August you can still earn A List if you haven't already so that's 1 reason why the total is still going up. Hello be sure the name is spelled exactly like you spelled it on the initial reservation this includes middle names. remember travel funds can only be used by the person who's name was on the ticket for example if I booked my mother a ticket and she had to cancel I can't use the funds on me.
