In favor of the front: It's a little quieter in front of the engines for sure. If you are sitting in the window the wings won't obstruct the view looking forward. Faster to deplane. Against the front: The very front section usually fills up every seat, even on partially full flights. If you want a better chance at an empty middle, head back a little ways. No waiting in line for the restroom at the front - mainly a concern on longer flights. Hectic during boarding, if you need to make any phone calls before takeoff head to the back for a few extra minutes of peace. TBD...where is the wifi sending the strongest signal? Not sure yet. Maybe someone else knows the antenna(e) location. Overall if I'm traveling solo I try for the extra legroom exit row so i can use my laptop...I don't care if the seat reclines or not. I also like right before the wing, the overhead bins can fill up there and people head to the back looking for space, so it's a good location to score an emtpy middle seat.

Has anyone noticed an impact from position in the plane? I'm hoping to find a "sweet spot" seating location, but it seems to depend on other things...how many people are streaming the TV/movies, etc.

When you book the ticket the KTN needs to be provided, if you had the tickets before and got a KTN after, it won't pull automatically from the profile. You can go to the check-in agent and have them add the KTN and regenerate a new boarding pass, or if you notice a day ahead you can call the 800 number to be sure KTN is added to the ticket and reprint at home or re-download to your app. Verify that your KTN name and ticketed name are identical as well, that's another reason for it not to appear on your boarding pass. I'm not sure about having additional passengers on the reservation being a complication. (Other than the complication that they will still have to go through regular screening while you have PreCheck.)

There was a big long string of a reference code, but the glitch seems to be repaired as I was able to book online last night using desktop software again. Thanks @LindseyD but it seems to be solved for now.

Any other ideas? It turns out I wanted to use a LUV voucher for a flight coming up soon, but that isn't an accepted method of payment in the app. I guess I will purchase without logging in and then try to add it to my account later. @LindseyD do you have any other contact info for tech support? The I-Fly-SWA 800 line was not helpful in that regard, although they offered to make the booking over the phone. David

I hadn't realized before that if you changed a refundable ticket (to a new refundable ticket type) it wouldn't still be refundable. I agree with your interpretation that to maintain the fully refundable status, then the clearest process would be to refund your existing refundable ticket (getting all your money back, except for early bird if applicable) and then rebooking a new refundable ticket based on the refund + extra new payment. If the time difference between the flights wasn't much then you could consider standby if your ticket included that ability or if you were A-list, but that could be risky if the flight would fill up and if there was a long time between flights where you would be stuck at the airport if standby wasn't successful.

I don't think they do, that would be treated as a rebooking to take a later flight. I think the logistics are difficult for any airline to do this since you can't standby for that flight, because your original flight will already be gone, they only treat this as a firm change.

I'm getting an error online - I can search flights to book if I'm not logged in, but when I log in to Rapid Rewards I get an "Oops" website that says to call the reservations 800 number. Reservations doesn't know why the "Oops" would be appearing and can only reset my password - my account is fine, I can see all my rapid rewards points, upcoming flights, etc. but I can't navigate to book new flights...any ideas?

Any TSA PreCheck location should be fine as long as you can schedule it when you are available there. When I did it through Global Entry I could pick from any of the locations.

One clarification is that there may be WGA fares available even for same day travel, although it may not be likely on a busy route. I've found many Southwest flights to be exactly full and not oversold. The oversell situation won't be provided for incentive to change flights until closer to the boarding time. Certainly check in with the gate agent and offer (before they ask over the PA) if you want to be considered for bumping. It wouldn't be official, but you can ask the gate agent if you believe you are trying to move from a crowded/full flight to an empty one, they may be able to help you out on a case-by-case basis but that is not official policy, and you wouldn't be incentivized for this until you were already in the gate area. (i.e. no calling the 800 number for a free change and extending your vacation by a few hours...not sure it makes sense without the bump incentive then unless you just like elbow room and don't mind hanging out at the airport for a few more hours.)

It does - the restrictions are based on energy content instead of power or current. So 100 Wh is one of the thresholds, and 160 Wh is the other threshold. (i.e. 0.1 kWh.) If your device says 99 Wh then I believe it has been designed with the 100 Wh requirement in mind. For a mass-market power bank I think this will be common. The restrictions as posted don't refer to power or current, although as you mentioned in your equations these are interelated (volts x amp-hours = watthours). A 100 Wh power bank will deplete much faster at higher power (W) consumption rates which may be more of a function of the devices you are charging than the power bank itself. The power bank may have maximum voltage and current limitations, but operate at lower levels. Anyway - TSA is not going to want to see your equations, they'd probably prefer a Wh label if you are near the limit. This isn't solely a Southwest issue, it's a TSA issue: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ash/ash_programs/hazmat/passenger_info/media/airline_passengers_and_batteries.pdf I hope this helps clarify.

I've only visited Mexico once, thank you Southwest for those early in the game MKE-CUN flights. Hopefully more frequent visitors will see this post and chime in. The advice I found online and through other resources about car rentals and driving: 1) Full coverage was recommended by many sites since even for liability on the other persons part the rate of coverage in the area you are driving may be spotty - for peace of mind you may want the higher level of coverage from the rental agency and that unless you specifically knew differently your home auto coverage wouldn't apply, credit card coverages may also not apply, etc. I think our total was $600 for the week, that was for a September in Cancun so not the peak time for sure. I'm not sure if you have any additional questions...here are a few additional thoughts on driving in Mexico in case you can use them...if not, stop reading here... 2) Get an international driver's license from AAA. If for some reason you had to surrender your credentials you may be able to provide that instead of your state license. (...and then abandon it if needed.) Extra benefit that this provides a translated copy of the key information on your state driver's license which may be useful at times even when not driving. 3) Mexican police drive around with their lights on all the time, as opposed to USA police that turn the lights on when they want your attention. Apparently it is common for drivers from the USA to pull over when they see the Mexico police with lights on, and then at times this may lead to being taken advantage of. I don't know personally about that, but you shouldn't stop just from seeing their lights on at any rate, you can take it from there. 4) A key road sign is for the "Topes" - shown by a couple of semi-circular mounds - these are some devilish type of double/triple speed bump that you need to slow down for. Way slow. Slower than you think. 5) We had little trouble driving around the Cancun, Riviera Maya, Tuluum, and Chitzen Itza areas. The speed limit was a little slower and it was busy, but not really that hectic compared to downtown of major US cities. I had visions of Mexico City traffic jams and we never encountered anything like that. 6) We did end up driving through some moderately uncomfortable areas when I made a wrong turn on the way back to Cancun. If you can manage it, buy some extra data so that you aren't compelled to hoard Google Maps...if you use GPS to navigate in the US, you'll probably want it in Mexico too, at least when you are on the local roads.

You should probably start a new thread @moxieindenver but hopefully I can answer. You shouldn't have to provide a doctor's note or anything, the gate agent should take your word for it that it is necessary when you check-in. If they ask (they shouldn't) just describe the issue with past surgeries and arthritis. I don't worry about jumping in to line at the last second though, that's the great thing about the numbered positions. Find the person that would otherwise be behind you and let them know that you can't stand that long and you'll be hopping in front of them at the scanner, it should be fine. It isn't anyone else's business. Or if you have something in the middle of the A's, just wait for A60 to roll by and jump up then, you'll still have plenty of aisles or windows. You'll have to stand in the jetway though. You'll be better off pre-boarding.

You also can type in the KTN when you book the companion ticket instead of relying on the profile to transfer over and you'll have a much higher conversion rate on the first try. I can't speak as to why your own isn't working - you may also type it in when booking instead of using the profile, and make sure your name is the same on both (Bob vs Robert for example).

The first time you travel with these extra items consider purchasing a Southwest blue bag for them which will help protect from scuffs, etc. It'll also help you in the future as everyone will know that baby items are in the blue bags. We usually gate check the stroller for use in the airport, but curbside check the pack and play. Still use a blue bag though.

I think it was an honest question about what the procedure is from someone not familiar with Southwest @Pharmgirl99. But yes - family boarding is beetween A and B groups, if you didn't already get A boarding passes due to prompt check-in time, Early Bird, A-list, or other means. One person along with young child, although we've generally had both parents go at the same time if I didn't use my A-list position. Preboarding is for medical conditions that cause someone to need more time or assistance, difficulty standing/walking, etc. Check in with the gate agent ahead of time and they will help you navigate the situation.

I had this happen on a LAS to MDW flight...we walked up and assumed it was a prior flight as there were only about five people left to board. When we got the gate check tag for the strollers we found out it was our flight and didn't get to sit together, literally the last three people on the plane. I'd accept a text message for boarding more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule as well. We were in the airport, but not at the gate.

Ability to buy a "ten pack" of wifi codes would work great too, either similar to drink coupons or even better to have it stored in the RR account login. I'd consider an annual subscription as well, although right now if it is for work then I need to reimburse each time separately.

If I'm understanding the situation - you kept the original FLL-Jamaica flight, likely becuase it was cheaper or otherwise favorable not to cancel that one? A better recommendation would be to cancel the BWI-FLL flight and then change the FLL-Jamaica flight to become a BWI-Jamaica flight using the cancelled funds to pay the difference, then your luggage would go through directly, etc. (No change fees!) If changing isn't possible due to the cost of the Jamaica flight going up since you first booked, or you are combining points on one leg and paying cash for the other leg then it gets more complicated. I haven't been to FLL before, so I can't comment on the amount of time it will take to retrieve your luggage and go back through security in time to board for Jamaica, but it sounds kind of tight to me. Hopefully you have PreCheck.

Hobby only has one "terminal" but the international flights for Southwest will depart from the gates 1-5 which I would call a separate concourse while most domestic flights will be in the 20-50 block of gates. It should take 10 or 15 minutes to walk from the furthest domestic gates to the 1-5 area, and there are a couple of moving walkways on the path to help you out. Don't accidentally go out of security and you will be fine. Your bag should go through to Jamaica, you can verify when you check in at Denver that it won't have a "HOU" luggage tag. https://d14ik00wldmhq.cloudfront.net/media/filer_public/63/7b/637be34b-6487-4f08-ad2d-47215711dbc2/hou__printable_airport_directory_l2_verti_updated_1-24-17_.pdf For quick grab and go there is a Peet's and also a Chick-fil-A at the entrance to the Gates 1-5 area if you have time.

BNA is a pretty happy layover spot in my experience. 40 minutes is tight anywhere and probably at the limit of what Southwest will book you for. If both flights are on schedule you are bascially 100% to make the flight, but you may be cutting it close on a particular boarding position if the outbound flight boards right at T-minus 30 minutes. With all of the Southwest gates on one concourse I think a brisk walk will get you between the furthest two gates in ten minutes. There is a "pod" at the end of the concourse with a cluster of gates so you will be just as likely to only walk across the corridor to reach your gate. I've had this several times coming from PNS to MDW. If you have more time at BNA there are many places to eat, starbucks, and live music throughout the concourse. Tennessee BBQ. Sushi. More live music. It's certainly not a place I would hesitate to have an hour+ layover. David

We do usually call ahead of time and have our daughter added, but i believe you can show up at the ticket counter with a birth certificate and add your child then. Calling ahead of time makes thing go smoothly if you use curbside checkin, especially if you have some extra baby-related items to check.
