I'm not completely clear but if this was the daughter's boyfriend who can't fly then I would suggest:
Take the travel credit that is in his name and buy a new "Wanna Get Away Plus" ticket that is about the same value to any destination/date - make it a little bit in the future so you don't get stuck on timing.
Then cancel that trip and he'll now have a transferable travel credit that you can transfer one-time to yourself or your daughter as needed - you can only do this once though.
Then you'll have the travel credit back in your name - this is a good option if you'll be flying next year to use it up.
If the whole trip went through and your daughter also doesn't need her travel credit then do the same thing again.
However I do think if you use the Contact Southwest Customer Service and can send a letter by mail from the doctor about the "no fly" condition you might have a chance to re-request the refund that the phone operator wasn't able to do.
But if you would be satisfied getting the travel credit back in your name, then try the steps listed above. You may need to either add a little money or else leave a little on the table if you can't get a flight that exactly matches the cost of the previous flight.
I hope this helps. Thank you for your service!

Can it be your initial and then a space?
Also do you already have a rapid rewards account along with PreCheck or another other account that needs to match?
It would have to be consistent with your identification is the main thing, if there is another way to show it as middle name with last initial or something else that might work.
Have you flown other airlines this way?

Capturing all of the day trippers in the evening?
I'm scanning a few different days in January and that seems like pretty good coverage overall, sorry your appointment ends too early, but not early enough.
Maybe plan on a late lunch at Manny's Deli or something and then come on down for that later afternoon flight.
There are plans for a priority pass lounge in the works which would be great for arriving at the airport early with a wait for your flight but I'm not sure of the timing on that. Hopefully next year.

Hey there! A-list is through southwest and not through TSA or the respective airport so unfortunately, the answer would be no. Although, you still get special security lanes in select airports. It depends on the airport you are traveling through, as some have it and some don't. What you want to do is either ask a Southwest Employee at the airport where the "premium passengers" lane is, or just navigate to it yourself! Different airports have different locations of them. My home airport is Denver Intl, and we have a premium passenger lane located on bridge security and south security. So it really just depends on the airport for your special A-List boarding😉
It might also be called "Priority lane" or "Fly By" if it is branded for Southwest.

I wouldn't post them for sale on marketplace or anything like that. (or this community - no posts for items for sale here)

The prices may be updated as often as every half hour but there is a trend for the industry to make updates and respond to each other's pricing in cycles.
This would be in addition to the changes three weeks out when there might be an increase, a week out, and two days out but that varies by route.
But with Southwest it's easy - go ahead and book it and then if the price lowers on a Tuesday you can reprice it for a travel credit.

We're just customers on here - use the Contact Southwest Customer Service or the luggage form to submit an official request.
One of the common comments though is that you can't wait very long to file a claim as they don't know what's happening after the luggage leaves the airport.

This is indeed an abusive situation, and it is one that has been deteriorating for years. Today was, however, the cherry on the Sunday. After purchasing a business select ticket, I was position A-5. When I boarded the plane there were already 42 passengers ahead of me, including a substantial line of healthy appearing young people who had pre-boarding. It goes without saying that the extra price of the business select ticket bought absolutely nothing other than the typically kind and sympathetic staff on board. While I have really enjoyed the service orientation and tremendous convenience of SW for many years, I will only tolerate this for short hops going forward and will spend the $$ on a reserved seat on another carrier for longer flights. Given the structure of the federal regulation and the willingness of so many people to shamelessly abuse the system, I don’t believe that SW can solve this problem without abandoning open seating.
You may have been on a through flight where people stayed on the plane at the connection. Next time double check that your flight number originates with your flight so there won't be anyone staying on the plane and who are allowed to move around prior to boarding.

Four other adult family members and I are traveling on the same flights to attend a wedding. As a favor to the group, I researched and booked our travel on Southwest, booking all five of us on the same reservation, and now I am the only person listed as the contact person to receive updates from Southwest on the itinerary.
At the time I made the reservation, I was required to give each traveler's name and birthdate and was given the opportunity to add individual Rapid Rewards numbers, TSA Known Traveler ID numbers, indicate any special requests for traveler's assistance, etc., but there was no place to add each individual's cell phone number or email address.
I would really prefer that my fellow travelers would get their own text or email updates on the flights, especially on the day of travel, rather than having to play tour guide for them all. I've been back on the website to access the reservation, and I haven't found anyway to add this information for anyone other than myself.
Does anyone know if it's possible to do this?
Yes - I recommend they each use an app such as TripIt for their own travel.
But regarding Southwest, what notifications do you want them to get?
You won't be able to add them for text messages on Southwest, but what you can do is if they each have their own Rapid Rewards accounts they can log into the app on their own and see updates there, as well as push notifications for some activities.
Something like TripIt or App In the Air would be useful though, or several other similar apps.

That's a good scenario - at first the agent may balk after all your daughter won't have A-list, but in reality as long as the fight has extra seats all you would be doing is canceling the companion, same day changing yourself, and then re-adding the companion, so they should allow it under that scenario.
Your daughter doesn't need a same day change, just to be re-added after you've made your change.

1) yes there are ways the travel agent can book things that require them to make changes, that seems horribly inconvenient for Sunday travel though if they are closed. I don’t think they had to do it that way.
2) I’m not familiar with this approach on Southwest to make a reservation without a ticket, maybe someone else can chime in. I’m not sure what “change” they were expecting you to make if everything was according to schedule and you couldn’t fly this sounds like an error on the travel agents part.
Please let us know if you find out more info.
It sounds like a bad travel agent if they were expecting you to take some action Sunday morning to fly and not telling you what that would entail.

Ehh...boarding position is nice but not the biggest deal. I'm more intrigued by the same day change. We typically travel for our kids sports so often book the last flight of the day departing, just to make room for rain outs, shedule changes. But often times that leaves us sitting around a random city for hours after their games end. Standby has been iffy so the guaranteed change would be a big benefit.
That’s a little tricky since everyone that had the Alist could confirm but the rest of the party that was not Alist wouldn’t be sure to do that (your chance of an exception is helped by having one Alist in the group, and then also how full the targeted flight is) - you can also buy WGA+ fares for the rest of your group to increase the flexibility of others. (Unless your whole family is in the same situation being a few points short?)
Did you buy a lot of Business Select fares? It would be feasible to approach A-list with 5-10 flights if you only bought BS fares.

Thanks for pointing this out, many people do know about this and it has been mentioned on this community before.
I'm all for more awareness, and I would agree that it would be nice if when you booked the new flight there was some automatic warning of a potential double-booking right at that moment.
I don't know for sure about the logic on which flight to cancel vs price, time it was booked, etc. Did the phone agent confirm that it cancels the more expensive flight?
I'd be inclined to suggest a revision to the logic that keeps the more recently booked flight regardless of cost, but that's just me.
But to one of your points - you do consent to this in the terms but it may not be well known and of course few people are reading all of the referenced terms and conditions.
I'm glad that your situation was resolved.

I will continue to escalate this issue to the highest degree necessary and have decided to fly other airlines after my last scheduled trip in December. Has anyone else had this issue or concern with missing or stolen items from checked luggage? Is 2 free checked bags worth the potential cost of theft?
It doesn't sound like you are looking for any suggestion or follow up from the community.
For other readers, I'd suggest not to check anything valuable, and if you did have something in there you have to check at the arrival airport to show that there is damage or something missing within four hours.
As far as the theft goes there isn't a lot of opportunity at most airports as the bags go moving around very quickly and I wouldn't change my flying habits when it isn't certain (or perhaps even likely) that someone employed by Southwest was responsible. Southwest isn't the one with the scanners - if someone were to see into the luggage and identify something valuable that person probably isn't a Southwest employee.
If your item was valuable enough to qualify then file a police report, and maybe pursue insurance.

Can you elaborate on the promotion? The ability to earn tier qualifying points is limited so if you are flying very often then I'd say this would generally be worth it.
It goes a bit beyond the offset cost of EBCI or upgraded boarding - it's also the priority line at the check-in if you need assistance, it's the same day flexibilities, there are other advantages that would be hard to quantify. (Well they can be quantified but it increases the number of scenarios to model by an order of magnitude.)
And then of course if you are flying 10+ times then I think you most likely would feel like it was worth the $150.
People flying 24 times or the equivalent in points it's a no-brainer to fly that extra points run to earn it.

I was boarding a flight the other day with my family. There are 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids, 11 and 14). Since our flight has rows of 3, we had to split up. The exit row was empty. So, I sat there and my family sat in front of me (in a non-exit row). The flight attendant told me I have to move. They said it’s a “conflict of interest” if my children are sitting in the row in front or behind me. I checked the southwest page for the requirements to sit in exit row and could not find this rule. Also, the rule as stated by the flight attendant makes no sense. They would be the closest to the exit row if they sit in front or behind me. So, if I let them off first that is just the correct order of letting people off (I don’t see a conflict of interest). Regardless on if the rule makes sense or not, I am just curious if this is a “real” rule that is written down anywhere?
Thanks in advance. And, in case anyone is wondering - I did not argue and just moved seats when asked. I am only asking this because I am curious.
This is a first time hearing this for me. I'm trying to recall if we ever did this ourselves and my memory is fuzzy, we typically would be 2x2 or 3 and 1 either in front, behind, or across the aisle so our typical method here could include three in the row in front or behind the exit row and me in the exit row.

Safe Travels
I don't think there would be any difference in the outcome here whether notifying the staff or not in regards to the points - either way the itinerary isn't being completed as booked.
I agree it would be courteous to let the staff know so they aren't potentially holding that aircraft if they think you are in the bathroom or something, but canceling the second leg in that way would technically require a rebooking to the current offering for a SAV-MDW instead of what was actually booked. (And regardless if the effort actually saved money or not although people doing it on purpose are generally trying to save a few bucks.)
If there was really some exceptional circumstance where you said to them that I can't board that flight I'm staying then you should be doing what is necessary for you, knowing the consequences in Rapid Rewards.

When did you realize they were lost? Was the tracking in Chicago the next morning?
Obviously the system in intended to find any items when the plane is turned, however if your plane was unloaded in RSW and then went to MDW right away it would be a challenge to find such a small item without delaying the flight. It is also possible that a fellow passenger found them and they were along for the ride, or still on the plane if they fell into the seat or were behind the pamplets.
I can see it would be frustrating if you were calling from baggage claim, there would still be a chance. If it was after the plane left then there would be a big chance of a fellow passenger finding them.
I hope you do get them back!

Only if you have formula/milk it would be counted as an additional item allowance but a "dry" diaper bag would count towards you and your husband's collective four items.
Combining things is okay - if you had a separate purse for example as long as you can put it in the diaper bag to board, it doesn't matter if you take it out later during flight and have three items, you mainly have two missions: Get seated with your two items, and each person gets one overhead and one underseat - if after you separate the purse and diaper bag they still fit in your underseat area you are all good.
