Is it size of exhaust (EGT) that matters or amount of CO2?
HVAC engineers use CO2 as a surrogate for air quality, as affected by concentration of humans.
Everything coming from human breathing, bodies, etc. is assumed to be higher concentration if the CO2 is also increasing.
CO2 is used since we can measure it relatively easily compared to other products of respiration or the difficulty of counting individual people.
CO2 itself isn't harmful except in cases of extreme concentration (5000 ppm) and over a long period of time. Levels on well-occupied airplanes are typically 1,000 ppm to 2,0000 ppm.
However a 737 has a HEPA filter to remove particulates so in that case with a HEPA filter inside of a space the contaminants (originally cigarette smoke) would be removed while CO2 could still increase - so providing an air purification device splits apart the actual contaminants of concern from the CO2 concentration - it's not a good surrogate any longer.
I'm not as familiar with MD-80's but based on the vintage and size these likely had HEPA filters too. Some of the regional jets do not have them.

Not the way you are describing but yes - you could always change your flight back to end in BWI, and then use any travel credit remaining (if any) to buy a flight from BWI to RDU the next day.
Southwest tries to keep layovers less than four hours with a few exceptions that pop up trying to reach airports with less frequent service.
Do not just get off in BWI even if it is cheaper than changing it - if that happens you'll lose your points for the flight. Also if you did this on the earlier leg it would cancel the rest of your itinerary as a now-show. Any checked bags would also go on to RDU.

This may not be useful three weeks later but you can also try buying one or two or three tickets at a time and see if the price goes back down, if it is tolerable to have one of the tickets be on a separate reservation.
The example @dfwskier gave you is great - one follow up is that if one of the remaining seats was taken out from under you there might still be three of them left.

My question is: will the photo copy birth certificate be acceptable for her ID? I know for the infant boarding passes, the southwest website says photocopies are acceptable, but I can’t find clear guidance on my unique question. I’ll have my other two bio children with me (and their original birth certificates), but I want to make sure we don’t have any issues checking in and getting our lanyards.

I'm sorry they weren't able to wait since it was the last flight of the day, but I hope you have better luck getting to the airport earlier as well.

Both Midway and BWI can stay in the airside and get between concourses.
That is a good point - I once had to go through security in PHL because I flew Southwest from MDW to PHL, but then US Airways from PHL to GSO, and the concourse with the regional jets for US Airways wasn't connected to the Southwest concourse. There was a bus connection on airside, but it was faster to exit security and re-enter. I think this particular one is fixed now.
But in the vast majority of cases if you are staying on the same airline you won't have to leave security.
If you are changing airlines then yes you would, for one thing your checked luggage won't be transferred regardless of the gates. And then it would be possible at some airports that there are terminals or concourses that aren't able to be connected by walkways when tranferring airlines.
I believe OP was on Southwest the whole way though.

Hello,
My bag was lost on a direct flight from DTW to LAX. It has been 1.5 months and Southwest has been unable to find it. I filed a report one month ago with receipts of items in the bag. Up until I filed the report, communication was good with the Nettracer Baggage Portal. Southwest responded within a day and was helpful. This is the filing website.
https://app.nettracer.aero/pax/southwest/dashboard
After I made the claim, I have reached out three times with no response. I am unable to get a status or even simple questions answered. I was wondering if others have had any luck contacting them another way or through another avenue. I am also curious if Southwest did reimburse you, what was the reimbursement process.
Thank you!
If you search the community there is a phone number for Aero Services, leave a message they don't pick up. You'll have to describe the luggage and hopefully you had a tag on there although maybe it fell off. (I always leave some ID inside the luggage as well.)
It's possible that it was taken by someone at LAX or if it was mis-directed to another location it never got back into the system.
The FAQ shows that when you first registered for the nettracer you should have instructions in that confirmation email:

This is probably the stupidest question but I don't fly often and I've never had layovers before.
I'm flying to Grand Rapids, MI and I have two plane changes. One change at Midway in Chicago and on the way back, I change planes at Baltimore/Washington D.C.
I've looked online but I've seen different responses. I know I'll need to go through security at my initial departing airport. Will I need to go through security again at Midway and at Baltimore?
Other information if needed: Changes are on the same ticket, bought at the same time so same reservation number. Layover at Midway is longer, over 4 hours while the layover at Baltimore is about an hour. No TSA pre-check or anything like that.
Thanks so much in advance, I always get so nervous when I fly since I'm not used to it!
Domestic flying: no. Your bags will be checked through to the final destination and you can go straight to your next gate. You'll remain "airside" in the concourses at MDW and at BWI. (Four hours would be kind of tight to leave MDW and do anything fun and then get back, but possible. For BWI I recommend O'Brycki's inside the airport.)
You would only need to go through security if you booked one-way tickets from your origin to Midway and separate ticket from Midway to Grand Rapids.
The confusion online might be for international flights, in that case you likely would go through customs and be re-screened. There is a such thing as pre-clearance at Southwest destinations Aruba and Nassau where you would only be screened once at the origin, but there are several others with pre-clearance in Canada, Europe, and Middle East where you wouldn't be re-screened. Maybe that was the discussion you saw?

This is a Southwest message board, but maybe Delta doesn't have anything like this for customer-to-customer help.
Here's the TSA list of valid ID:
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification
Is your learner's permit issued by the state? It may qualify as "state issued photo ID" otherwise maybe you have one of these other items like a passport.
If not, arrive with some extra time and you can perform an interview to establish your identity. I'd use the suggestions on TSA's site pertaining to "lost ID" in your case not having any of the approved items.

People use the rear one all the time at the gate, so I'm also interested if this was a timing issue with using the front lavatory either with servicing, pilots, or getting a count of through passengers.
For a number of reasons if a passenger had a need to sit near the lavatory, I'd go for the back one for this reason, also you can form a line, the pilots aren't ever using it, etc. It is more discrete if you get up and the seat-belt light is on.

Hi Oscar-
I didn't see any restrictions on TSA's website on bringing common clothing irons for checked or carry-on. I think an iron may be defined as a large electronic device but I could be wrong.
I would therefore remove the iron from the carry-on bag and keep it separate or in the tray when running it through the x-ray machine at the TSA Checkpoint for both PreCheck and Standard screening and putting back into the carry-on after clearing TSA just in case an officer needs to review the iron.
Make sure it doesn't have water in it if you are carrying it on.
I don't see any issue with it in checked luggage for sure. It would be a little odd for a carry-on as most hotels have them at your destination but if you aren't staying at a hotel then maybe you need your own.
I'm also assuming it plugs in and does not have a battery, you said it was a Target classic iron. Otherwise battery restrictions would apply.

Same complaint. Paid for upgraded boarding and happened to be on a cruise specific flight. Had 22 wheelchairs plus their companions and numerous other preboarders. I was in the A1-15 and I think we got on after 50 people and I am now demanding a refund. If you pay for something you do not get, you should be entitled to a refund. It is funny how with all the other airlines you have to pay for what you get. PS. Delta is great! I have no issue with passengers that have disabilities boarding first but they are not paying for business select, 1st class or Comfort plus upgrades so they typically are not sitting in the first 10 rows. You have to pay for that luxury as they should with Southwest.
You can always ask - reach out to Contact Southwest Customer Service but I don't expect they would agree necessarily, the "Business Select" is offered to improve boarding position, get a coupon, and earn 12x points, and be refundable and all of those things did happen - the unlikely event of excessive preboarders (and perhaps any through passengers?) made the outcome not as you expected.
That's one difference compared to the Delta offering there isn't more legroom in the front seats, etc. you are just buying a position, not a seat. (I usually go for exit row myself, but sometimes it isn't available, I'm not usually trying for the front of the plane so this largely doesn't affect me.)

Subject: Formal Discrimination Complaint Regarding Flight Attendant Conduct
Upon entering the aircraft, I was already fatigued due to the significant delay (2.5 hours) in our flight. As the flight attendant approached to train us on emergency procedures, I briefly turned my face towards my friend, who was seated nearby, to seek assistance with fastening my seatbelt. However, the flight attendant abruptly interrupted her instructions and admonished me to pay attention.
Hi Laura- I would forward your letter in an email addressed directly to Southwest Customer Relations for review as this a customer-to-customer forum.
https://www.southwest.com/html/contact-us/
However, having taken several Southwest flights, I can provide input on sitting in the Emergency Exit Row. Going forward, I would wait on the seat belt assistance until the FA is done with the Exit Row Training Briefing; FA's need to brief and train the passengers seated in the Emergency Exit Row on the emergency exit procedure which requires passengers to be fully involved in case of an evacuation. This includes an acknowledgement that would require full attention of the training briefing. The training is typically done about 10-15 minutes before the flight staff close the front door and FA's commence the general safety information briefing and final checks on seatbelts. Thus, if such a situation arise again, I would hold on the seatbelt, focus on the briefing first and then assist.
Hope this helps! However, I would forward your case to Customer Relations if you believe you were unfairly treated on the enforcement of this policy.
I would echo @SoCalFlyer97 here that the FA have been taking it very seriously on my recent flights and you do have to pay attention and verbally reply that you are willing and able to help in the event of an emergency.
The last two flights I've been on they were very close to moving people out of the exit row for not paying attention to the briefing. One of these could have been a language barrier question about whether the person was understanding the duties, the other one was just a clueless person that hadn't been in the exit row before.
Here's an article on the topic as well, I think they could have gotten into deeper.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/read-this-before-you-take-an-emergency-exit-row-seat/2019/04/17/f43c0162-5af3-11e9-a00e-050dc7b82693_story.html

According to FlightAware the plane flew and was a Max8 so there was some other cause of denied boarding.
They have to issue compensation with denied boarding, but this sounds like something different with a schedule change. Anyway - in case you take the refund option the compensation comes after you are inconvenienced, so now is the time to ask.

I’m a fan of making a visit 30 to 45 minutes prior to the scheduled landing. That usually catches most approaches for timing - Chicago or NYC towards the longer range, some of the smaller airports you can go up to 20 minutes before.
The main clue is you hear the engines back off and slight change to attitude roughly in the 30 minutes out time frame - that’s the five minute warning for the seatbelt light to come on.
