It's sounds like this is happening right now - let us know how it goes if the service is restored when you depart and/or change planes.
Good luck getting back on your way!

It should work all day across plane changes - that's going to be changing soon though to a per-aircraft pricing model in which case you'd have to pay again on the new plane. In that case you should request a refund with the details which should be granted.

I suspect a lot of people would like to see SW at Newark.
For the time being, due to the MAX grounding and the return of some leased planes to the lessor, SW is short a lot of planes -- in excess of 10% of the fleet.. The airline can't fly everywhere it would like to fly when it is missing more than 1 out of every 10 planes it had been expecting to fly. Perhaps EWR will be added when SW starts getting planes back in service.
As a reminder, this is a customer to customer forum. You might want to provide your opinion to the airline. To do so click on "contact us" (below), and then pick your preferred contact method from those listed on the top left of the ensuing page.
I think that was a permanent trade, so even when the planes come back the gates/slots are given up for good.

However, I just flew through LGA last week and things are looking up there for sure, the new terminal is an amazing transformation compared to the previous cramped facility.
LGA seems to be thriving and I don't foresee any return to EWR unless Southwest acquired gates/slots by taking over someone or buying their spots outright.

So you had two people on one reservation. Cancelled the second person on the reservation, but kept the existing reservation number and the reservation intact for you. ?
Were there any changes after that? Why would you split them separately and then not make any further changes? Usually that would be a precursor for one of the two confirmations to be changed in some way that wasn't going to apply to both people.
This seems to be an issue for the fine print, obviously the intention was there but I foresee difficulty even with what seems to be a minor change.
I also don't know if there is any way for them to drop a companion pass on you for a different period than what the promotion was setup for. As far as I know there isn't an "add companion pass for a limited duration" button in the system. It would definitely need to be escalated, if this is possible it won't be every rep that can do it.
Good luck, I hope it comes through in some way, but I feel like one of the favorable outcomes will be that you get it for the original time period which may not be very useful.

Looks like you have 3 options
1) Pick different dates
2) Pick Boston - it's less than an hour away
3) Fly someone else
4) book it as point-to-point - i.e. book MHT to BWI or MDW and then from there to LIT. This works great if you are carrying on your luggage. Otherwise you may need to make a special request to check everything through to LIT - if they say "yes" then verify the luggage tags when you check-in - otherwise you might have to retrieve luggage and re-check at BWI or MDW. Allow some time for that.
You might be running afoul of layover time limits in the regular schedule, you'll be able to absorb that yourself with a point to point schedule.
Then do the same in reverse if necessary. In some cases a route is available one direction but not the other.

It seems unlikely to have completely waterlogged your items but if another passenger has some liquid in their luggage that leaks out damage can occur that way.

Yes - and if you don't use it and instead had to go park your car or return a rental car, then you have a chance to forget something in the rental, leave it on the shuttle bus, etc.
Or do you mean - if you have someone else in the car with you - to run it into the terminal and check it at the counter instead? That sounds fine if the cops aren't rushing you out of there. They won't let you do that at Midway or O'Hare for example. But you could let one person out to go check the bags at the counter while the other goes and disposes of the car if you have only two items.
Otherwise curbside is the way to go if you have only one person traveling with many bags, or multiple people are checking two items.

Give the bags to the check in agent and save one more opportunity for mistakes.
In fact, in many of the locations where I have used curbside check-in it saves extra chances to lose items on the transfer from the parking or rental car area to the terminal before the items are in the airline's custody.

That is an interesting question. Same thing for baby gear. A baby somewhere needs this stroller/car seat/etc. - in my case I was bringing the kids back with me.

This would be nice, I did see it on my one trip on the other guys.
The other guys also had two price tiers where you could buy a couple of hours or else pay much more for duration of your trip (it might have even been for 8 hours and not the full trip duration) which compared to $8/day I was like "ugh" but if the price is going up this might be a good way to break it into bite size wifi.

No airline is going to run an empty plane. Their data likely showed them that over time, the only viable schedule was on Saturday where they could fill up the plane.
Not that a daily service wouldn't be viable necessarily, but prioritized based on the current availability of planes and staff resulted in only the weekend service for that city pair.
They also factor in if the destination can be reached from a connection very easily - for instance if there's daily service from one of the regional "hubs" like Baltimore or Nashville then there might not be a direct flight from further west. Southwest has its origins with short-haul travel and they are sometimes content to offer several 1-stop pathways to a location that funnel through some other location.
Now separately if you are looking at an international destination then the data they have right now is people are going there for week long leisure trips and there's not enough business travel for daily flights. That's also common.

Can a travel voucher be converted to points? If yes, approximately how many points is $100 worth?
Not to points - you can book something with the voucher and then if you cancel it, it will be returned back to you in travel funds since it can't be restored to the voucher.
I use this third party to value points, they try to rate them based on their use and not what it literally would cost to buy them which is higher.

The wrinkle would be if you have companion pass then points are "worth twice as much" if you are using them to book travel and will have a companion ticket as well.

I've got a round trip ticket booked to MCO in a few weeks. I've run into some uncertainty in other areas of the trip and realized my plane ticket wasn't refundable, so I was considering upgrading from Wanna Get Away to Anytime in case I needed to cancel my flight and catch one with another airline. Only issue is that Anytime would roughly be an additional $250 on top of my $280 ticket.
I know Anytime is refundable, but if I pay $250 to upgrade and then have to cancel my flight, will I only get the original ticket price of $280 back? Or would I also get the $250 upgrade fee refunded?
Thank you.
The opposite: the $250 new money would be refundable and the original $280 would be issued as a travel fund if you cancel.
The only other suggestion would be if you have any other firm travel coming up, cancel the original ticket and re-book it for the later flight, then buy a new Anytime ticket in case you cancel this current trip.

Here’s how I would like Southwest to start competing with Alaska: by flying to Alaska. Everything else works well for me.
Are there gates available at the most likely airport(s)?
My guess is the challenge would be without having a hub and spoke model that there are too many Alaskans coming from various areas to the main airport and connecting to the mainland where Southwest won't have capacity to serve the smaller feeder airports, therefore people will be pre-disposed to take whatever Alaska offers to get started and then stick with it for their trip to the mainland.

The WiFi is free for me. As a 15+ year A-list Preferred I get free wife every year. I get paid $300 an hour to be working. I'm on Southwest Airline flights anywhere from 8 to 20 hours a week for 48 to 50 weeks of the year. Even if I'm generous and say SWA wifi is reliable 50% of that time, I am losing min 200 hours of billable time a year, or $60,000 in income.
I've been able to work around this by planning around the flight times for things I can do without the internet on my computer, but if your workflow doesn't allow that to happen then it will definitely be a challenge.
Try to fly only Max and 800 aircraft, that might help somewhat with the newer equipment.
Anyway, they know, they are working on it, and hopefully you can manage in the meantime but it could be years before the whole fleet is retrofit.

Several route I fly regularly such as Sacramento and Jacksonville have no non-stops at all now. Could this be due to route changes since the issues in December?
There was a noticeable shift towards short-haul flights so that across the whole network it seemed like there was a bit more expectation that flyers going a longer distance might be more likely to be making a connection.
Some of the longer non-stops are still out there, it sounds like if you can move dates around there might be some options.

I will be traveling alone with my three kids (ages 5, 9 & 10) from Sacramento to Oklahoma. Pre-boarding question. I know we would qualify for the family pre-boarding but wanted to find out if I purchased the Early Bird boarding for myself would I need to purchase for each child also or would they go with me? Trying to figure out the best way to do this. We have only flown a few times and this would be the first time without my husband traveling with us.
Also that would be the best seating arrangement. All three kids in one row and me in the aisle seat across or two in one row and two directly behind?
Thank you for any advice!!
As @TheMiddleSeat mentioned boarding at "A61" through the family boarding is probably sufficient and as good as you'd get with EBCI.
If 9/10 are good to sit by themselves then personally I'd maybe try:
9 and 10 take aisle/window on one side
You and 5 take aisle/window on the other side
No major argument with three kids in a row and you on the opposite aisle as well, that sounds doable for sure.
Check ahead of time - if the flight is lightly occupied then maybe you'll get the empty middles and be able to move around a bit as needed.
If the flight is full or nearly full, then change that to be middle/aisle and aisle/middle across from each other.
My kids are younger so I wouldn't do the front/back rows but maybe that's fine for 8/9 year old kids, maybe they would enjoy having the row ahead and being on their own a little with you and 5 right behind them.
The worst case if there was an (IMO) unreasonable interpretation of the family boarding would be that you want EBCI for the 8/9 year old kids and then you and 5 board in family boarding. I think it's pretty likely for you all to board - the intention of family boarding is to keep families seated together while not allowing excess numbers of adults to board with one kid.
