Do you have the confirmation from the flight, or was that only sent to the former employee? You should be able to cancel with the six-digit confirmation code and first and last name. However generally the credit would be good for a year to the same person, so you will probably need to call customer service and explain the whole scenario to adjust the credit for use by someone else. I'd have your billing card handy to refer to as well, in addition to the confirmation.

For an item left on a plane, you should use this form: https://live.nettracer.aero/southwest-paxview/lostandfound/bagunchecked.do If you may have left it in the concourse somewhere, then reach out to Midway lost and found but it sounds like you are sure it was on the plane.

My guess would be that something autofilled in the webpage when ordering if there isn't a record of it in your Rapid Rewards profile. Was it someone that you had previously sent an itinerary to before? Other than that I think you might need to call customer service to find out where the addresses came from so that you can find out if it was during ordering, or from somewhere in your profile.

As someone affected by this, I see it both ways. Information as provided by @chgoflyer says that companions don't get same day standby. As @franktravel points out, the situation - if seats are available - would be equivalent to canceling your companion's ticket and then rebooking companion with the new ticket. I haven't used this benefit yet - if you do it will the original flyer be re-ticketed right away? Or does the standby only clear during boarding, that would be a hiccup for rebooking a companion according to the process. If there were seats available I don't see why they would not want to accomodate the flyer and their companion.

I see this often referred to as "nesting" which Southwest hasn't objected to in the past - they don't price their fares the way other airlines do, so there isn't generally a benefit to booking round trip instead of two one-ways, or including minimum stays which nesting could be used to avoid on other airlines. I agree with the suggestion for one-way flights for maximum flexibility, and which would show a clear path from A-B-C-B-A. instead of the two RT flights showing you going A-B-A and B-C-B during the same time. Particularly since Southwest doesn't price separate one-way trips differently than round-trip flights for the same city pairs, at least that I have seen. David

Hey @TheMiddleSeat - I have had a couple of anxious moments trying to add a companion on a sold out flight over the two or three days leading up to the flight. So far I was always able to catch a spot, but it was nervewracking! Including one time the morning of the flight. At least one day when it doesn't work and I end up paying for it, I'll know how much money I have saved up until that point! But I definitely recommend to avoid being that position if you can help it,. David

I would definitely save a spot with points now - especially if the fares are low, the points would be refunded. You never know how things will go and it may be stressful to wait and add the companion later without a contingency plan if hte flight sells out, you aren't spending as much as you thought, or the timing of the statement closing isn't favorable, etc.

It will be separate check-ins just as before, the companion doesn't automatically get Business Select unfortunately. If you wanted to purchase Early Bird you could do that. (Assuming your husband also has A-list status.) Early Bird would be similar to boarding position that you had before, it won't be in the A1-A15 group, it will be just after the A-list assignments. My wife and I used to do this. Now we have a baby so we go for Family Boarding instead of Early Bird for her.

I've been on a few trips recently where the MDW lines were shorter with fly-by (or even the general lines) but I would still go to PreCheck due to keeping my shoes on, laptop in bag, etc. Somewhat more experienced travelers in line in front of me (not universal unfortunately). So I think they were "right" to point out PreCheck for you, but should have let you go to whichever line you wanted. Maybe you don't mind taking your shoes off, go for it.

That's a lot of business select coupons! Did we have to opt-in to that one, I don't remember seeing it. My bigger issue with the BS coupons is that sometimes I'm flying in the morning and would rather save it for a flight later in the evening.

Also for @Bpaine - the EB access assigns the boarding position at 36 hours, you still have to access your boarding pass sometime after the 24 hour mark - i.e. if the problem was that you couldn't get your boarding pass in the 24+ to 36 hour window that's normal, although it is assigned it isn't accessible until the 24-hour mark.

From Chicago I like to take Porter to Toronto. You still get the MDW experience on this end, and then the destination airport "Billy Bishop" is right downtown (YTZ), the equivalent location would be like landing at Meigs Field so if your destination is downtown Toronto, you are already there - literally walk to some of the hotels, after taking a 2 minute ferry ride across the ditch. I don't know where your starting point was, but you should consider flying to a Porter airport on Southwest (Chicago MDW, Pittsburgh, Dulles, Newark, Boston) and then transferring airlines to check the price point against renting a car and driving. I've only been to MDW, Dulles, and BOS, so I can't recommend the layover experience at Pittsburgh or Newark. MDW has plenty to eat though and is pretty close to Toronto. Caveat: Porter flies only Bombardier Q400 turboprop - the ride isn't quite as smooth as Southwest's 737's if you hit choppy air. I would recommend you take Southwest as close as possible to minimize this potential issue. Other than that, Porter is great though. Customer service wise they are the "Southwest of Canada" in my opinion and their terminal at Billy Bishop airport is by far the best free lounge I've been at for a layover. Snacks and Canadian wine are included. They run sales all of the time, in fact $105 per person one-way today from MDW: https://www.flyporter.com/en-us/special-offers/website-savings

I've certainly seen them go into the overhead on other Southwest flights, although I'm not sure if that was coming or going, if that matters. If that's okay with you to go in the overhead, then it should be okay with Southwest. Especially if you can lay it on top of the other stuff in the bin, then it doesn't even take up extra space.

On our trip to Cancun and Playa del Carmen we took a day trip to Tulum and really enjoyed it, and hope to return for an extended visit sometime. Tulum has great beaches, many smaller hotels/accomodations, and lots of restaurants and activities. In particular the area south of the ruins and town have a strip of hospitality places along the beach. We ate at an amazing Italian place! Apparently the area had been known for European tourists much before it became popular with U.S. visitors. Lots of botique hotels, restaurants, and shops, and definitely visit the ruins on one of the days. You'd fly to Cancun on Southwest and drive or shuttle down there.

I haven't been personally. A co-worker visited recently and I don't remember him saying anything specifically about mosquitos although you should ask the hotel if there is a seasonal uptick in mosquitos, perhaps after a rainy period, and maybe it isn't so bad other times of the year.

Saving an overhead bin is too much. I'm pretty happy to let someone sit by their friend or spouse, and I'll even get up and move for someone that would be separated from their child. But if someone tried to claim an overhead bin, too bad, my bag is going in there if I'm planning to sit there. I think the Flight Attendant would back you up, but you would have to ask them and not wait for them to get in the middle of it.

Probably not identical, although it is possible. Your connecting flight will also check in at the same time as your originating flight, so most likely it will be equal or better position if you check in at the 24-hour mark (i.e. you may be ahead of the 24-hour mark on your connecting flight, but still behind the A-list and Early-Birds). Unless you happen to snag a vacated position for one of the flights then the two could be be way different positions, but a rule of thumb is that the connecting flight will be similar or slightly better than your first flight.

Regarding TSA Pre, you've probably already seen several suggestions on these forums but the top tips are: don't rely on automatically importing the number from you profile - type it into the box when you purchase tickets if it didn't show up automatically. It doesn't automatically get added after you buy tickets. Also type it in the box for booking companion pass, if applicable. make sure your name is spelled the same, one of the two isn't using a nickname, etc. call the 800 number and have your KTN added after purchase, but before arrival at the airport at the airport if it doesn't print on your boarding pass, the ticket agent can also add it and reprint (although at this point the time savings may be moot, I'd still do it for keeping shoes on and laptops in my bag).

They may require age verification depending on the ticket type. I believe TSA says "no" for security, but Southwest may say "yes" depending on the ticket type for Child Fare, or as an infant < 2 y.o. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/children-pol.html For our <2 y.o. lap baby we do bring a copy of a birth certificate for proof of age.

You can change part of a reservation. Many people do buy separate one-ways for this purpose just to keep things cleaner, but it shouldn't be a problem. Each of the three of you have separate confirmation numbers, correct? If yes, then you should be able to change your return destination and leave theirs alone.

Although there isn't a change fee, if the flight fills up during the interim time or the new flight was businer than the one you changed from, the only available seat may be more expensive than what you started with. That happens a lot. I have one time changed a same-day fare when there were still cheap Wanna Get Away seats available and I got a refund, so it does happen both ways sometimes. So technically true that there isn't a change fee, but in the case of short-term changes there is a probability that the new fare is more expensive for sure.

You'll need to set your own comfort level, and I can't say specifically for DAL at that hour. My best guess is that 1 to 1.5 hours early would be fine at that hour of the morning if you are checking bags. At MDW if we show up exactly an hour before the flight, there is time to drop off the family at Curbside, curbside check the bags, wife and daughter head into the airport and I go park the car in economy garage, catch the shuttle back to the terminal, we both have PreCheck, and I'm usually walking up to the gate right at family boarding 25-30 minutes before departure.

I think we covered on another thread, but yes you should be okay. Some additional clarification - you'll need to check with the gate agent to secure the gate check tags for the items. Your largest difficulty may be carrying three gate check items down the jetway along with your carry-on. You may want to make some friends in the family boarding line. If you buy the blue Southwest gate check bags maybe you can get both car seats into one container?

Especially on a business route, or if we happen to be traveling to a destination with a convention taking place I have been getting A30-A60 numbers with A-list sometimes, but there are still good seats available.

If there were a lot of people ahead of you, make sure that you didn't purchase or change your flight after the 36-hour window which would have removed your preferred boarding position. I'm not sure how A-List and A-List preferred work in terms of automatic assignment at the 36-hour mark, I think it may be by order purchased, and I'm not sure if there are separate waves for those two statuses...so if you bought your ticket relatively late then you might be at the rear of the A-list group behind the other A-list and A-list preferred who bought their tickets way early.
