Although I haven't used it myself, there is something called a gate pass that your father may be able to receive from the ticketing agent to provide an escort to your daughter. If that doesn't work, Burbank is certainly an easy access site for security and if you have gate A1 or A2 it's literally only a minute to get there from the TSA checkpoint...if it is doable anywhere, that might be the spot. By "safe" I think you mean airside - so your parents can bring your daughter to BUR, wait for your plane to land and pull up, send your daughter through security at that moment as you'll be walking up, then both of you together back to another gate for departure...it could work at BUR as long as you weren't delayed inbound. Don't try this at MDW or LAS....well at MDW you wouldn't be able to see people on the other end of security for one thing. Southwest may hold a connecting plane at times, but this isn't standard policy necessarily and I think depending on how easy it would be for you to catch a replacement flight, how delayed you are running, if the pilot can make up the time in the air (can't delay all of those people from their future connetions), etc. may all factor into things. I wouldn't count on it and they don't promise it, but I have seen it provided when people would be missing the last flight out by a few minutes. The other wrinkle is that your daughter won't be delayed having started at BUR, so her ticket would be departing as normal...?

When you book the ticket the KTN needs to be provided, if you had the tickets before and got a KTN after, it won't pull automatically from the profile. You can go to the check-in agent and have them add the KTN and regenerate a new boarding pass, or if you notice a day ahead you can call the 800 number to be sure KTN is added to the ticket and reprint at home or re-download to your app. Verify that your KTN name and ticketed name are identical as well, that's another reason for it not to appear on your boarding pass. I'm not sure about having additional passengers on the reservation being a complication. (Other than the complication that they will still have to go through regular screening while you have PreCheck.)

If you make the change in advance, it is not covered by the new A-List free standby policy -- you'll pay the fare difference. If you show up at the airport within 2 hours following your scheduled departure, most carriers will accommodate you on the next available flight for no additional cost. This is referred to as the unofficial "flat tire rule."

The loss of refundability is a new policy, caused by the new "next generation reservation system," and only applies to refundable fares (Business Select, Anytime, Senior, etc.) There's much more info in this previous discussion. Bottom line: For refundable fares, always cancel and rebook (don't change) in order to maintain refundability. If you've purchased a non-refundable fare (Wanna Get Away), nothing has changed. Just use the "change flight" function and select the same flights, and you'll receive the difference as travel funds, good toward future travel for one year from the date of purchase, by the originally named passenger. Note: When you apply those fund to a new booking, that new booking will take on the expiration date from the travel funds, meaning if you have to cancel that new flight, the funds will only be good for less than a full year.

If a WGA fare happens to still be available, you'll want to make the same-day change yourself online. At the airport, they may tell you that same-day changes aren't available, and make you upgrade to Anytime and fly standby (depending on the passenger load for the particular flights). Fare Rules Wanna Get Away Fares are nonrefundable but may be applied toward future travel on Southwest Airlines for the originally ticketed passenger only. Should a passenger fail to apply the nonrefundable ticket toward the purchase of future travel within the eligibility period, the entire amount of the fare, which includes without limitation, all fees, taxes, and charges, will be forfeited. Standby travel requires an upgrade to the Anytime fare. Fares may vary as seats are limited and may not be available on all flights and dates. Limited seating, advance purchase, and other conditions may apply. Fares are subject to change until tickets are purchased and may be available for a limited time only. When combining fares, all rules and restrictions apply. Lower fares may be available. No Show Policy: If you are not planning to travel on any portion of your itinerary, please cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled departure of the flight. Customers who fail to cancel or change a Wanna Get Away fare segment at least 10 minutes prior to travel and who do not board the flight, will be considered a no show, and all remaining funds on this reservation will be forfeited, including Business Select and Anytime funds.

Any TSA PreCheck location should be fine as long as you can schedule it when you are available there. When I did it through Global Entry I could pick from any of the locations.

It does - the restrictions are based on energy content instead of power or current. So 100 Wh is one of the thresholds, and 160 Wh is the other threshold. (i.e. 0.1 kWh.) If your device says 99 Wh then I believe it has been designed with the 100 Wh requirement in mind. For a mass-market power bank I think this will be common. The restrictions as posted don't refer to power or current, although as you mentioned in your equations these are interelated (volts x amp-hours = watthours). A 100 Wh power bank will deplete much faster at higher power (W) consumption rates which may be more of a function of the devices you are charging than the power bank itself. The power bank may have maximum voltage and current limitations, but operate at lower levels. Anyway - TSA is not going to want to see your equations, they'd probably prefer a Wh label if you are near the limit. This isn't solely a Southwest issue, it's a TSA issue: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ash/ash_programs/hazmat/passenger_info/media/airline_passengers_and_batteries.pdf I hope this helps clarify.

Hi @jonbornstein:
While TSA PreCheck is not guaranteed 100% of the time, even with a KTN, there are a couple of things you can check to ensure that the system is working as designed.
1) Make sure the name on your reservation exactly matches the name associated with your KTN.
2) Ensure your KTN is in your reservation whether you book online or with an Agent.
3)If your KTN is stored in your Rapid Rewards account, make sure you're logged in when you book your next flight.
If all else fails, a Southwest Agent can help verify your KTN is in your reservation when you arrive at the airport prior to going through the Security Checkpoint.

You should probably start a new thread @moxieindenver but hopefully I can answer. You shouldn't have to provide a doctor's note or anything, the gate agent should take your word for it that it is necessary when you check-in. If they ask (they shouldn't) just describe the issue with past surgeries and arthritis. I don't worry about jumping in to line at the last second though, that's the great thing about the numbered positions. Find the person that would otherwise be behind you and let them know that you can't stand that long and you'll be hopping in front of them at the scanner, it should be fine. It isn't anyone else's business. Or if you have something in the middle of the A's, just wait for A60 to roll by and jump up then, you'll still have plenty of aisles or windows. You'll have to stand in the jetway though. You'll be better off pre-boarding.

The first time you travel with these extra items consider purchasing a Southwest blue bag for them which will help protect from scuffs, etc. It'll also help you in the future as everyone will know that baby items are in the blue bags. We usually gate check the stroller for use in the airport, but curbside check the pack and play. Still use a blue bag though.

I could not agree more. . . I waste entirely too much time looking for non-existent or lost Southwest receipts as I do not always get the e-mail confirmations from Southwest for some reason. If Southwest wants to maintain their "Transparency" reputation it would seem that this would not be so difficult to arrange. Presently I have two reservatoins made from just last Thursday and no e-mail receipts to show for them. I will have to call SW customer service and they seem to have to jump through special hoops in order to get me some form of receipt. HELP US OUT HERE SOUTHWEST!! PLEASE!!

You'll likely have your Rapid Rewards account setup in advance, just provide the same RR account when you enroll each time. As Southwest mentioned, they will combine multiple RR accounts if you accidentally end up with more than one. It should be one RR account per person.

It might be cozy! Southwest has only 737 aircraft, so the seats are fairly uniform. If you've been on a 737 before then that experience is probably the best guide.

BNA is a pretty happy layover spot in my experience. 40 minutes is tight anywhere and probably at the limit of what Southwest will book you for. If both flights are on schedule you are bascially 100% to make the flight, but you may be cutting it close on a particular boarding position if the outbound flight boards right at T-minus 30 minutes. With all of the Southwest gates on one concourse I think a brisk walk will get you between the furthest two gates in ten minutes. There is a "pod" at the end of the concourse with a cluster of gates so you will be just as likely to only walk across the corridor to reach your gate. I've had this several times coming from PNS to MDW. If you have more time at BNA there are many places to eat, starbucks, and live music throughout the concourse. Tennessee BBQ. Sushi. More live music. It's certainly not a place I would hesitate to have an hour+ layover. David

It doesn't always pull from your profile correctly, you can attempt to add the KTN at the airport if you have time and try to reprint the boarding pass, this has worked for us several times before. Also make sure the name is an exact match. Differences can also cause PreCheck not to show up on the boarding pass.

We also had this issue. I had to type in the number when I booked the companion fare, the system didn't pull it from the profile automatically even though it was stored there. The KTN in the profile worked for her own original bookings, but not companion bookings by me. The companion can also call and have it added separately anytime, or add it at the airport if you are checking bags anyway and reprint/download the boarding pass.

I wanted to verify that if you meant increasing your points to 12x instead of 6x (WGA) or 10x (Anytime) then the answer is no. Think of it more like a "super early bird" that gets you in the A1-A15 section, but you still have your previous fare and associated points earning ratio.

As an added bonus, you may earn slightly better position for the second flight since you are already checked-in with a couple of hours head start on the 24-hour check-in timeframe. A-list and early bird will still be ahead of you, those position assignments process 36 hours ahead of the flight.

The "WGA" fares may not be available really close to the date of travel, I'd suggest to consider when you might need to change things - if you are looking at months or weeks of advanced notice, you should be in good position to change. There's no change fee, you only pay the difference in fare. The wrinkle is that a same day change or only a few days ahead may have larger fare differences if all the WGA fares are taken and only Anytime or Business Select remain. Instead of flight insurance SW will allow you to cancel the flight and hold the funds as a voucher for future use (no change fee) that has a one year expiration. You can probably get some third-party trip insurance but hopefully the flights are cheap enough and SWA's flexibility is enough that you don't need it.

I'll second @LindseyD - if you are considering booking in points, there isn't much downside to grabbing it now and waiting to see what happens. If you cancel or change you plans, you get the points returned to your account.

Hi @shel31580,
Thanks for posting in the Community! I'm glad that this is a good communication option for you - as you can see, there are definitely folks here with answers.
You can definitely make a change to only one portion (the return, in your case) of your itinerary. Go to Southwest.com, and click on "Change Flight." Then, type in your confirmation number and first/last name. You will be prompted to rebook your flight, and then given the fare difference. Very simple! Good luck, and please post if you have any follow up questions.
