I have experienced flight attendants requesting for passengers to allow those with a close connection to get off first. It always creates a bit of a mess (but it has come to my rescue more than once).
I have to imagine that asking preboarders to wait seated would create a real mess. And it would be almost impossible to track.

I would also make 100% sure you entered your rapid rewards # on the app. It may have somehow created a new RR# for you if you didn’t. It should be printed on the card.

Rae, There is usually no one perfect airline, and it is important to consider the overall value proposition! I hear feedback similar to what you are saying; here are a few things I like to consider: -If cheapest is best for you, go with that. It’s expensive to fly, and cost is important! But.... -There is more to the overall cost than just ticket price. If you fly a super low cost carrier, for example, can you change your flight for free? Check your bags for free? Do you have to pay for a seat assignment? Do the fare and fees cost more than the SW fare? -It costs me less today to fly to NYC than it did 10 years ago. So when I get frustrated with flight prices, I try to remember that they haven’t increased drastically over the recent years. -SW advertises sale prices much like Old Navy. There may be some things that are 50% off, but not everything is. Some flights might be $69 each way, but not all are on sale. -I frequently save money when SW introduces a sale by rebooking my flights. You can get money or points back. Every time a sale is announced, I check all my flights. I have have no doubt you have considered all these things, but it’s one of my favorite things to discuss. For me, SW’s value proposition beats any other option for our family. But I also have status and Companion Pass, which offer tremendous value. Here’s to you finding the right solution for you, and maybe there can still be some SW mixed in!

This has happened to me multiple times at CDG on other airlines. I get to board early on based on status or fare only to get stuck behind folks on a bus. The difference is that I had a seat assignment. I would reach each out and provide feedback directly to SW; I understand your frustration, and I have a feeling SW would too. I would also encourage you to take advantage of early boarding!

Agreed. Travel bloggers frequently encourage buying points only in certain situations (usually the ones you mentioned above) because the value usually isn’t great.

You can find all the ways to contact SW here. If you prefer, this link has options other than just via phone to make contact as well.

I would take that over an August flight out of LGA with no AC any day (another airline). Unfortunately, it is a tough situation; I would rather be cold than be delayed. As for the flight attendant interaction; that sound very unlike a SW employee. As other have said, I would encourage you to store your thoughts directly with the airline.

Also, I understand that direct is best, but I frequently connect going from east to west and back. It worth it to me to stick to SW. It’s even better if you can have a one stop no plane change situation. I find that connecting through Denver is great because it is the least out of the way.

I think I understand what you are saying. You want not just to connect through city B but actually have a stop there, right? As far as I am concerned, booking two tickets is just fine because SW prices their segments based on going one way. A round trip is essentially two one ways with the cost for each added together to total the full RT cost. Other airlines do not price like this, so understanding what you are paying for what is more difficult. SW makes it transparent.

Sometimes we never know the strategy, but I understand your pain. I used to frequent BNA to GSP direct. It was affordable and busy, but the discontinued the route. Maybe its it’s a seasonal thing. Good luck!

Travel can get tough when you thrown an emergency into the mix! Sometimes, you just have to balance the cost to the need. I see it this way: 1) SW offers so much flexibility for changing flight and keeping fees away or low. If that means they have to be strict on the policies that do make them money, I’m ok with that, even if it sucks. 2) As a parent, I would just want to make it home. Period. I do understand your frustration, however. I encourage you to offer your feedback directly to SW, and I hope your child is back to healthy now!

I don’t have FaceID, but the latest version still works with your fingerprint. The short answer to the digital card is no; there isn’t one. Also, you can use your browser to save your login info (user name OR RR# and PW) so that you don’t have to type it in the app when you get logged out.

I always, always tell folks that airline choice is SO MUCH MORE than just ticket price! Are there fees? (With SW Air, the answer is typically no.) Are their employees nice and helpful? Do they have good operations? Do they treat their customers well? Do you have any flexibility once the ticket is booked? For all these questions, SW typically has the edge. Now, there is never one perfect airline for all types of travellers, but i know for me and my family, SW is always the way to go.

I totally understand your concern! As a Hilton Diamond member, I always want to ensure that I will received my benefits and -- more importantly -- points for my stay. I always assume that if you don't book direct, you don't get the benefits. But I know there are exceptions (such as booking with Concur). Also, you can earn SW points for hotel bookings; I doubt you would be able to "double dip." I am making assumptions here, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Hi vanhack, I would suggest reaching out to the SW Twitter team. They are so awesome and responsive. THey could provide context about the reservation and let you know your options. You might tweet them letting them know you have a question, and they will likely encourage you to direct message the details and conf number to them. Good luck!

Respectfully, I can't imagine the first point helping deplaning. Have you ever been on a plane when the FAs ask passengers to let those with tight connections get off first? It works, but it is usually difficult to have folks clear out of the way to make way for those in the back who need to get off. It would make a tense situation, and policing it would be difficult to impossible. Regarding the second point, SW already does not charge for checked bags, so unlike with other airlines, if folks are carrying on on SW, it is for convenience. Bottom line is this: I continue to be blown away with how fast SW can turn a plane. I am not sure there is any need to mess with a really effective process.

Purchasing EB does not guarantee any position, and there are several reasons why you may be well into the B group with EB. First of all, there are lots of A Listers. I am A List Pref, and it is common for me to be 3/4 of the way down in the A group. These folks fly a lot, so SW rightfully awards them with priority boarding. After A List Pref and the A List is EB, and there are often many folks who pay for EB. Remember that the boarding position is no the only benefit of EB. One of the best benefits is that you don't have to rush to check in at the 24 hour mark because SW holds your spot. Will you be busy at that time? EB has your back!

Did you see this for both boarding passes or just one? Depending on how the tickets have been purchased/issued, you may have to have each person check in separately. For example, when I fly with my lap child (under two), I have to check in at the desk to get a boarding pass, and I get a similar message to what you experienced. There could be several other things that might trigger this. When you check in at the desk, I would ask the agent what is triggering the message you are seeing.

Unfortunately, you can't use points to "buy" CP. Earned points - from many different sources - count toward CP qualification. More about CP: https://thepointsguy.com/guide/earn-southwest-companion-pass-new-year/ https://www.southwest.com/rapidrewards/tiers-more-companion-pass

Try with a different browser, or try clearing your browser cache. Also...the subject of your post talks about seat selection. Note that SW has an open seating policy. More here: https://www.southwest.com/html/generated/help/faqs/boarding_the_plane_faq.html

Another great benefit of EB to consider is this: getting check in automatically is helpful if you will be busy exactly 24 hours out from your flight? Since EB reserves you place, you don't have to be standing by to check in at the exact minute. In a meeting? Not prob...check in later. As folks have said, getting EB is good when you are flying between two big SW airports, which you are. If you are travelling alone and don't care where you sit and can check in exactly 24 hours out, you are still likely to grab a window or aisle even without EB. Good luck.
