That's just part of travel. Unfortunately, these things happen. One thing that you can know for sure is that Southwest didn't cancel your original flight for fun. There was a reason. Perhaps the pilot is sick, and they can't find another. Perhaps bad weather in Omaha last night caused a canceled flight that cascaded down to your flight. Unfortunately, that's just life. When you fly, you need to build some degree of flexibility into your schedule. Life happens.

I do believe that lighter color paint last longer. I remember when Delta (or perhaps it was Northwest) changed from darker color to mostly white on their planes. They did it because it would save money because the paint would last longer.

Perhaps it is just the route that I fly, but I have never seen the direct flight for OKC-HOU not be the cheapest option. It is, almost invariably considerably cheaper than an indirect route.
Is this different than what others have experienced?

@dfwskier It makes sense bracketing the emergency exit because you do not need any extra space for the exit row. However, the picture confused me in that there is a bulkhead behind the rear facing seat.

Southwest will oversell a flight to accommodate a Customer of Size, but that would not be 4 seats.
No compensation if the change is made for operational reasons? Safety, yes. Operational reasons? That's pretty bogus.

I called Southwest yesterday, during the heart of the snow mess. I got through in less than a minute. Canceled my flight because I wanted to get home, and there wasn't a earlier flight that I could catch. Flew United out of IAH. Sprung for first class. It was nice. Oh, but the point is that Southwest is very easy to get by phone lately.

And, the bookings for a online travel agent (OTA) do not earn points or elite credit at hotels. Probably not such big deal with Marriott since they've gutted Bonvoy, but World of Hyatt is incredible.
I'm platinum with Marriott, and I'm planning on zero nights with them this year. It is that bad. I'll probably burn some points with them at some point though. Hyatt is awesome.

@chronos I can assure you that the flight attendants will not allow you to sit separate from a 7 year old child. They will find a way. In the past, they offered free booze. Not sure what they will do now, but they will make it work.

It doesn't take much reading on here to know that Southwest Vacations is actually Apple Leisure Group, and Apple Leisure Group is a train wreck. However, Hyatt has acquired Apple Leisure Group. I'm a Hyatt Globalist, and I know from experience that Hyatt is a top notch company that treats people very well. At least, they treat their Globalist well. Much, much better than Marriott. So, how is Hyatt's acquisition of Apple Leisure Group going to impact Southwest Vacations? Are things going to get fixed?

I flew on United last year, and the flight crew was constantly going up and down the aisle, reminding people to pull up their masks. Announcing is not enforcing. I fly pretty much every week, and I never hear flight attendants address individuals about masks. I certainly never hear anything after takeoff.

@TheMiddleSeat Those saying the crew takes the mandates too seriously would think that any enforcement was too much. Unfortunately, few Southwest flight crews do much to enforce the mandate. A few make a little effort, but most do very little.

@megedav I don't know. I've never flown Southwest internationally. I flew Qatar to Saudi Arabia in October, and the first leg was on American. At the airport, American checked my passport, my visa, my vaccination card, and my negative test.

@megedav Whether or not you check in online, you still need to show a passport at the airport before they will let you board an international flight. They also check visas if required and other entry requirements. A negative test, if required, is just one more document to inspect.

Turnaround times for PCR tests in Oklahoma are less than 12 hours. That's just go to the local labs time. You drive up and they do it in your car. I know that we aren't that advanced compared to the rest of the country. Cash pay places offer 2 hour tests.

I found an interesting new data point. As stated in the article, the new fare will be slotted between WGA and Anytime, and it would not take anything away from any other fare class. Apparently, Southwest also says that they will be increasing the benefits tied to BS, Anytime, and WGA fares. Okay, now I'm truly stumped. If they had said "enhancing", I'd jokingly say that it was a euphemism, but the word used was "increasing".

I'm not really sure what people get out of Anytime fares. What could they possibly have for a new fare class between WGA and Anytime fares without taking away from any other fare class???

I'm not sure about other states, but we finally have them in Oklahoma, and they are a PITA to get. You need to make a special appointment to do it, and you need to bring multiple documents verifying stuff. If a passport is the best id, shouldn't that be enough to get a real id driver's license?

If I'm using travel funds to buy a ticket (funds exceed fare), is there a way to use a credit card to pay for some of the fare? Chase Sapphire Reserve has really good travel protections, but at least some of the ticket needs to be bought with the card.

My flight this morning had 10 drink choices. In addition to the five that they've been having, they've added ginger ale, seltzer water, tonic water, orange juice, and cranberry juice. This is a change since my last flight on Friday. Still no Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke Zero, or alcohol. With the expanded choices, the ordering by fingers is now gone as well.
