For most people, the idea of paying for wifi on a two hour or less flight isn't worth it. However, if you do buy it, it has to work.
During the flight, there is time and the beginning and ending of the flight when the wifi is off so subtracting that from your total flight time leaves very little useful time for the wifi.
I just wait in most cases, but when I do buy it, I typically get refunds in more than half of the cases due to poor performance.

I agree that this is very unfortunate. I believe that we all have a front row seat to the dismal outdated system that is the focus of the Holiday DISASTER.
I would recommend calling their corporate office and arrange a meeting with their CEO. Let them know that you've tried it their way and it hasn't worked. Ask for a meeting with their CEO and, of course, the additional costs of travel.

Everyone, including you, has the right to express views. On this board, you hardly "speak" but you have the right to express views. I suppose if you attach an audio clip, then you could "speak".
The conclusion about my post is that of the original poster's and I'd imagine that their thoughts are different than yours.

No, read the lawsuit. It has to do with not only refunds and lost luggage but the inconvenience and loss of enjoyment that went with this Holiday DISASTER.
Whether you view the lawsuit as ridiculous, or not, is not relevant. You are not the plaintiff and have no influence in the lawsuit.
Whether I am a plaintiff, or not, is also not relevant. I have the right to participate on this board within the terms of use.

We've covered the subject of their finances before. It is all relative.
Their net worth is not the legend that everyone thinks and their past performances have been acceptable, but not the legend that everyone thinks.
If I had been working for 41 years, I would expect to have more than a year's salary in the bank.

People have the right to come to this forum and express their views without their thoughts or position being minimalized by frequent contributors.
I like to see varied levels of perspective. However, if you wake up each day and believe that everything that Southwest does is correct, innovative and cutting-edge, you will not have any appreciation for those that cite failure in the brand.
After the Holiday DISASTER, I believe that Southwest is standing hat-in-hand dolling out apologies, cash and trying to smooth this over.

This individual has the right to choose any airlines. To suggest that the person fly another is not making a meaningful contribution as I'm sure the person already knows that.
The only SURVIVING FACT is that Southwest needs to clean up the wifi issue right after they finish swimming through the aftermath of the Holiday DISASTER which will likely eat away at their pocketbook for some time.

Just because someone posts here a lot does not mean that they have any status over you. You are welcome to share your views here, at the local grocery store or by contacting Southwest directly.
When I buy the wifi and it doesn't function properly, I contact Southwest and get an $8 credit. I agree with you that even an old dial-up modem was more reliable than what Southwest is doing.
Now, if the wifi was free, you wouldn't be as agitated but to charge a fee and then it doesn't function properly is unacceptable.

I've wondered the same thing. I have been there with my phone at exactly 24 hours and the moment I click, if it isn't too early and it returns the request, it does tend to hang up. I cannot imagine that there are that many people doing what I am doing and I get position B20.
I have said before, let Southwest sell the tickets based upon the boarding position. That solves everything. You pay for your position in line, PERIOD.
A1 costs a lot more than C60.

I guess I could ask General Motors to enhance their Chevrolet to be a Mercedes, but that is not going to happen. They will tell me to buy the Mercedes (which I do).
Southwest was once described to me by a flight attendant as "The Walmart of the Skies" and they are not going to change their business model.
Of course, you want Southwest fares with Delta luxury. I flew Delta for 20 years and always rode in first class. Now, I use Southwest and yes, I miss the luxury of first class, but in those days, I didn't pay for anything, my company did.
So you need to choose which you want. Myself, if I want a Mercedes I buy a Mercedes.

I had an experience with Budget where even though I had a reservation, they sold the vehicle to someone else. Left me stranded at night with no vehicle.
Even through Avis Budget Group reimbursed me for what I spend in addition to their vehicle's original price, I am working on a lawsuit naming Avis Budget Group, their CEO and AARP as defendants.
I'll let you know how it goes. I am asking for an additional $1,000 for disruption of my trip.

Yes, there was a post about luggage being returned and then a photo of luggage delivered that wasn't theirs.
Yeah, it was returned. But not to the right person.
With Southwest now being under Congressional investigation, the story will become even more interestiing.

Within the limits of the forum rules, an individual has the right to come here and express their views. Thus, the purpose of the forum.
Now, if the forum contained only pre-filled drop-down narratives, then you could argue that the content is limited to the pre-filled narratives. However, that is not the case.

I would suggest that you re-read my post.
The lack of attention to the individual's situation is the core of the complaint. I referred to the experience over the Holidays which I refer to as the DISASTER as an example of what happens when Southwest ignores these complaints.
Again, please re-read. Thank you.

The issue of preboarding has been discussed many, many times. If you do a Google search you will find posts that date back over 10 years about the same subject.
Southwest has unassigned seating, open seating. That means that it is truly first come, first served. With preboard, the passenger has the right to self declare and is the first person on the plane. That's the way it works.
There is somewhat of a "perfect storm" with Southwest since they charge a surcharge to be an earlier boarding passenger and then those same passengers get irritated by preboarding.
A little song has developed and I've heard it a few times at different airports.

Southwest is handling multiple legal issues including one from shareholders and another from passengers who were part of the Holiday DISASTER.
The big question I have is whether they will be able to give any increases to the union given their current financial situation.
While there are those on this board who believe that Southwest has more money than Dubai, the public financial statements tell a rather meager story of their current condition.
